Parker: she told me she wasn't drinking and I believed that. #JulieSchenecker

That alone is the toughest part ... he was not in any way responsible for her recovery.....

PS communicated with Dr. Obregon because he wanted to make sure the doctor knew what was actually going on -- because patients tend to under-report.

PS and Beau came back from the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2. He doesn't remember other trips before deployment to Middle East. During this time, JS doing car pool and dinner.

Beau talked to his Dad about his mother's driving, but he can't remember if it was before or after rehab -- he thought it was before.

In December, they went to family counseling.

PS did not consider divorce. He was committed to his family. He never expressed to Julie that he was going to divorce her. He sent an email (Julie didn't see the email, but thought it had to do with divorce) to Jim Powers, Pat Powers, Nancy Schenecker, Dave Schenecker -- on Jan. 15 -- prompted by communications from Julie's family about the way he was handling the problems between Julie and Calyx.

In the email he invited the family members to share in her care, he asked them if they'd ever lived with a 50 year old who had the judgment of a 10 year old.

How could he be? She lied to everyone about her addictions. How could anyone be helpful to her? She is an adult and the way the laws are set up, if she wants to lie to her family and lie to doctors, no one can ever know unless she allows them to.
You simply can not help someone who does not want help.
She clearly did not want help.

Agree..having lived through a loved one with MI plus the addictions..they are very manipulative and controlling. I think he was doing the best he could. His obligation was to his kids not her. He tried to keep the family together throughout all the ups and downs. He had to work. If he was controlling it was to keep the kids safe..most would have divorced in this situation. IMO.

My ex would not allow me to help, even when I begged him to see a counselor and set up the appt for him. I thought he was depressed, but likely he is NPD. He lied to the individual counselor, lied in marital counseling and lied at the workplace. Now he's with a codependent woman who enables him, and is much happier.

PS puts on a brave face in view of his life's destruction at the hands of the person he tried to love.

How long is this break?

that frequent flyer double return flight to CA from FL has me dizzy (((would seem like eccentric behavior to some wouldn't it??))))

why not book it with one of the kids --- wouldn't that be way to go ((2 return flights))

timing is unusual ((after she's of rehab -- was his mom in FL at the time))

IMO he comes off as an arrogant, narcissistic, control freak, talking out both sides of his mouth.

Says things like, I hope her energy is too low to commit suicide, then heads off to the Rose Bowl? smh

I totally agree that PS was not responsible for JS's recovery. She had to want to get better. All he could do was put the fires out as they happened and try and give his children a good life. I'm sure he cherishes his memories of taking Beau to California.

The shame is that JS only talked about suicide and he was focused on that. He probably never thought she was capable of killing the children.

She kept a lot hidden from him. It's not all that unusual, I'm afraid.
