The prosecutor is getting to the heart of it: Parker would be the first one to find the bodies...

I don't know if I have ever heard of anything so depraved...

Her husband, Parker, testified that she said 'I guess I stomped your heart flat, huh? after he became aware of his children's killings.

Assented to State questions:

Parker lived in his own world. Didn't say "hello" or "goodbye" to her. Did not list her as a priority in his life.
(objection)

Julie has written Calyx a letter explaining her disease. Calyx showed it to her friends, embarrassing Julie #scheneckertrial

Who is this on the stand? Whoever it is this is very damaging testimony.

I see now see where the PT were going in that line of questioning, but when he asked this, I was like...."WTH does being able to learn and speak Russian have to do with being insane or not?"

Being mentally ill is not dependent on your IQ?!?!

It also can show how intelligent the person is and how much easier for a person like this to manipulate others, like doctors...

Precisely.

No, but intelligence is a factor in being able to manipulate psychologists and therapists.

It happens.

Ya beat me to it :floorlaugh:

JS hurt that Parker did not list her as a priority in his life (in 2003). She always remembered that -- it hurt her very much.

JS felt the kids were distancing herself from her. She felt victimized.

In the time period when she was bed-ridden, none of the family members came in to visit her. She felt her husband wasn't compassionate, and wasn't teaching the children to be compassionate.

In Windmoor during Thanksgiving. Family went to panhandle area and celebrated Thanksgiving without her.

Stay at home Mom. Bought her last car with her own money. If divorced, would lose her husband.

Told gun store owners she wanted the gun because of burglaries. Hid real reason.

Dr. S doesn't know if JS could really appreciate the wrongfulness of what she did.

She wrote in her journal: "the evilness starts Thursday"
Told detectives: "this is the worst thing I've ever done" that Parker would be upset with her. She didn't want to go to prison.
Told husband: "I guess I stomped your heart flat, huh?"

Sure....but you don't need a high IQ to be manipulative either. In fact IMHO, a lot of manipulative people are not self aware, although I don't think that is the case with JS. I think she was very astute.

To what degree her self awareness was/is based in reality is questionable. I guess that's what the trial is all about though.

A psychologist hired by the defense.

I actually feel sorry for this doctor but it will pass...:floorlaugh:

State questioning seems to be pointing out that #JulieSchenecker planned murders well in advance and may have been revenge against husband

#JulieSchenecker was angry at her husband according to state

the doc to testify that she was insane......

Not going good for the DT from what little I've heard so far

assenting to State:

JS excited to execute her plan. She didn't tell a soul, "because they'd thwart it somehow"

JS said it was a horrible, horrible thing to see my two babies like that. Didn't want to shoot herself because of the destruction.

Dr. S's opinion that a sane woman doesn't kill her children. Definition of sanity at time of the crime: in and out of psychotic state, particularly of last few days. Definition of legal insanity -- she didn't know right from wrong. Didn't know the wrongfulness of her acts. When you're psychotic, you don't care about society's standards. She was focused only on her goal.

This is absolutely correct does anyone remember the movie 'A Beautiful Mind" true story of John Forbes Nash a brilliant man who was stricken with Schizophrenia?

Dr. S indicated she knew JS was appropriately dressed while buying gun, but that she was on automatic pilot during that time, while driving kids to school, etc.

JS sought treatment for her illness -- saw doctor or counselor 26 times in 6 months prior to murders.

In the past, when she spent days or weeks in bed, she was able to recover. Dr. S thought that was her strategy -- if she stayed in bed long enough, she would recover.

JS had periods of depression early on in the marriage.

JS was the primary caregiver for her children when they were young.

PS understood seriousness of JS's illness. PS told JS's doc that she was in very bad shape. Memory failing, falling a lot, worst in 20 years. Mentioned suicide - he was hoping her energy was too low to kill herself.
