The more I read about this case, the sadder I become over this innocent man shot as well as the trauma his patient was put thru!
Another over zealous cop using his legal weapon to take control! This type officer is in the miniority, but they are the ones who set the tone for all their fellow officers nationwide. MOO.
My opinions only.
I am somewhat encouraged listening to a snippet of the news conference at the ABC link above.
City Manager Larry Spring spoke in a manner that sounded like he understands the problem and sounds responsive to the community needs.
He said the Officer involved in the shooting, Jonathan Aledda has been with the department for four years and is a member of the SWAT team. (hmmm) And he is represented by the Police union. And, as stated above he said that Commander Emile Hollett gave evidence of conflicting statements and has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay!
He went on to say that they have set up a 1st Ammendment Zone outside the Police Department.
It wasn't the whole briefing at the ABC link.
I would like to hear the transmission and find out how far away the officer making the call was. If true it's a failure and dangerous overreaction on at least two LEO's parts.

Authorities in North Miami, Florida, on Friday identified the police officer who shot an unarmed African-American man lying in the street with his arms in the air this week.
The officer is Jonathan Aledda, North Miami City Manager Larry Spring Jr. said at a press conference. Aledda, a four-year department veteran and a member of the SWAT team, has been placed on administrative leave. Officer Jonathan Aledda has been placed on administrative leave.
A second police officer, Emile Hollant, has also been placed on administrative leave without pay after giving conflicting statements to investigators, Spring said.
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why there are NOT local and national protests and riots over the Charles Kinsey shooting? Why is there not wall to wall coverage of this on the 24 hour news channels?
This is a case that I can certainly support outrage and protest over. The shooting officer, Johnathan Aledda, is a completely incompetent idiot, IMO. Mr. Kinsey is very, very lucky to be alive.
Where are Black Lives Matter on this one?
Where is Rev Al Sharpton and his supporters?
Where are the New Black Panthers?
Disability advocates?
Why aren't the teacher's unions linking arms and sitting in the middle of the road protesting THIS case?
Why aren't there crowds hurling rocks at police and blockading highways over this case?
Hmmmm........ maybe it's only worth their time to protest if someone dies??
"I'm tired of all of it": Black Lives Matter rallies at North Miami Police station
Black Lives Matter activists held a protest at the North Miami Police Department on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in reaction to the shooting of unarmed mental healthcare worker Charles Kinsey.
Black Lives Matter has been protesting it. With all the police killings it just doesn’t get as much news coverage, if the victim doesn’t die.

The shooting sparked calls for police department policy reviews by the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida and outraged U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson of Miami Gardens, who visited North Miami this week and demanded answers. On Thursday night a group of about 40 Black Lives Matter protesters stormed the North Miami police department and called for the firing of Aledda.
That haunting exchange is what stuck in the mind of Black Lives Matter activist Johnetta Netta Elzie, a prominent organizer who was pivotal in organizing demonstrations in Ferguson, Mo., in the wake of Michael Browns death in August 2014. After saying she is glad #CharlesKinsey is alive, she turned to the shocking details of the case.
I think his survival is part of it. Also, while I realize that Mr. Kinsey is AA, as a "Behavioral Therapist" I'm not sure that he fits the demographic of victimhood that the media likes to exploit and inflame. This is just a guess on my part, though. Interested to hear what others think.
Everyone I know is sad and angry and not buying the officer's story. When it comes to cases like this I don't pay attention to MSM unless it's to link stories here.
Absolutely. I agree. I too am definitely outraged and did not mean to imply otherwise. Just brainstorming on why the media hasn't been covering it.
And if that guy was that far away he shouldn't have been firing anyway. He claims he was shooting at autistic guy with a toy truck. If that is true, then clearly he missed his intended target and shot Mr Kinsey. And his other two shots missed (could have hit anyone I suppose). Why would he fire if he didn't have a clear shot?
