Wunderground.com says it was in the upper 70s that night with humidity around 88% to 94%. The high that day had been 88, but that was hours earlier.
Yeah, but houses tend to heat up all day so they're hotter in the evening. (At least, every house I ever lived in.) With that humidity, it would have been pretty thick and sticky.
I'm just trying to conceive of how anyone could spend 3 hours at Walmart.
Kind of a bad question, but I'm wondering how he killed her?
Also, any release of the 911 call yet?
I know this is a victim friendly site or whatever, but in this case, I just can't see the mom as a victim at ALL. I see her as greedy (not desperate or down on her luck) and I see her as very dumb (not naive). I just...can't with sympathy for her.
Today I was shopping with MY three kids, and thinking about what I would do if some strange man that set off my hinky meter offered me money and a ride in his van. I would tell him to get away from me and consider going to the security department and asking them to watch me leave the store because I would be worried for our safety. In fact, I had a super creepy man come up to me in a store before (Walmart, of course) and I did exactly that-I told the greeter and asked them to watch as I went to my car.
I think she needs some kind of neglect charge filed against her, as well as losing custody of her other children for good. People like her shouldn't be allowed to care for children.

I don't know if I believe she found him creepy or not. On one hand... He's an old guy who attaches himself to a strange woman and her kids, offers to buy them things and hangs out with them for hours... how could he NOT be creepy? If it had been just a charitable person who just wanted to help out of the goodness of his heart they could have completed their shopping in a much shorter time and got the kids to bed in time. But this man draws it out for hours. At some point, everybody would get suspicious, wouldn't they?
But then again, if you find somebody creepy you're not going to leave your kids out of your sight for a second.

These pedophile monsters are obviously all around us. Always been here, though sometimes it appears otherwise. They are from all walks of life and occupations. They are our family members, our acquaintances, the most trusted members of our societies, our neighbors and strangers.
And there will always be those adults among us who are less "smart" about such evil within our communities, our own families, and those adults more trusting, naive, less intelligent than we believe ourselves to be, or those of us with less than perfect judgement at times.
Should we have others control whether we can bear children or not? Should we have to pass a written or oral exam upon our child's birth? How about lessening perp's punishment since Mom all but made him succumb to his pedophiliac urges due to her poor judgment?
Wow. From that article, here's the information about a 2009 child custody evaluation performed by judge's order:
The evaluation recommended Cherish live with the father and the court did not listen to the advice of the evaluation. I could not grab this part but is says "I fear for the child's future living with Ms periwinkle."
I am sick to my stomach.
