I hadn't heard the entire 911 call before. So hard to listen to. "I feel like a fool." :(

I cant believe the demeanor of Smith. Not a care in the world!!!

I can hardly stand to look at him

I didn't hear opening statements. How is the defense trying to spin this exactly??

I think they were planning on cross examining Rayne but i don't think that will be happening now.

Defense opening IMO was just emphasizing Mother's poor judgement

Really grasping at straws then, it seems. No matter what decisions her mother made...there's no excuse for kidnapping/rape/murder. I am sure the jury will see that as well.

I missed opening as well I'm hoping I can find a recording of it somewhere.
Im watching the van Breda on YouTube live on my TV and watching this one on my amazon fire. Plus I'm waiting for Christopher Whitaker trial which I think is later.
I'm bit off more than I can chew. So glad for everyone's updates.

Yes. Rayne seemed to bear up well under that 911 call that was played. They can point a finger all they want, but as you say there is no excuse for what he has done. He knows it. You can tell by looking at him. He's knows this is just a formality. There is no defense for him.

Not sure if everyone saw the tweet I posted but Smith asked the Judge to instruct his Lawyers not to cross examine Mom. He didn't want to put her thru that. I'll stop typing now..................!!!!

Can't believe it!! But, I guess they are NOT going to cross examine her. Hence the reason the short break became an early lunch?

I thought the gift card was a $100 gift card. In the testimony, it morphed into a $150 gift card. Also, mother testified that Cherish did not want to go to California to visit her father. I had not heard that before.

Also, mother said that in the parking lot of Dollar General, she was standing outside of DS's van and he wanted her to get in it. She said he "got snappy" with her because she was balking -- I guess due to not entirely trusting him -- and he showed her his Driver's License. After she saw it, she did get in the van and they took off for Walmart.

He did everything in his power to manipulate the situation in his favor. Nobody can deny that. Lying about having a wife -- from the Virgin Islands, no less. What was that? Some kind of a Freudian slip?

Like I said before there is NO DEFENSE for what he did to cherish. I can't wait to hear the verdict guilty.
