Did you see the look the court reporter gave?

Yes, and she's seen a lot, I'm sure. Looked like she was trying not to laff or roll her eyes.

Hmmm ... 🤬🤬🤬🤬 is not allowed in most, if not all, jails/prisons, but apparently is a big selling item when smuggled in. Up to $200 for a magazine, then often photocopied for cheaper rates:

The prison commissary sells 🤬🤬🤬🤬 mags?? Damn.

I meant that he buys items from the commissary (snacks, etc.) to "curry favor" with his fellow inmates whose protection he may need. The 🤬🤬🤬🤬 mags ("adult magazines") he gets by "other" means!

Right, smuggled. I didn't mean to imply that he bought adult mags from the prison store. I should have been more clear!

Donald Smith Jr is supposed to testify next, but he is Skyping from a McDonald's and there is music playing in the background. Julie Schlax tells him to try to go outside to connect to wifi from there. @FCN2go #DonaldSmith

No way...from a McDonalds?!?!

Your dad is facing the death penalty for a horrific murder of a precious child, you have to testify by Skype so you choose MacDonald's to go and testify from? Jeez!

I was wondering what was taking so long to set up.

ETA: The live feed is back up on lawandcrime

We're back in the courtroom!

This is already tough to watch. Talking about DS destroying his toys when he was a toddler, and then at 9 yrs old (after the 6 year sentence) he was excited to see DS, picked him up from a rehab center, and DS was not interested in him at all.

  • #372
Jr. had drug and/or alcohol problems, but has several years sober now (I think he said 5 years?)

  • #373
Jr. referencing God/Jesus a lot; seems to have been an important part of his recovery and turning his life around.

  • #374
" he gives me really good advise"... don't tell me. please don't.

"we don't talk about the past"... how convenient.

  • #375
This is just sad...
with him being in bible college he should understand God forgives but the law does not

  • #376
why is he even testifying? this is so ridiculous.

  • #377
This is so sad and pathetic. Does anyone think this testimony will help?

  • #378
Describes building a relationship with DS more recently, talks to him at least once a week. Has an understanding of DS "chasing the drug" or "chasing the high." DS being incarcerated has helped Jr. stay sober. Jr. better understands how to father his own kid(s) because of DS('s mistakes).

No cross?

Was the son used to garner sympathy toward the idea that the son needs his dad alive? I can’t see any other reason. It didn’t change my mind.
