I think it is bad reporting. In the presser, they said they had evidence that he had purchased those items, not that they recovered them. I'm thinking they found a receipt somewhere - in his apartment perhaps, and then corroborated it on surveillance videos.

I think Pedro has been simmering for some time with jealousy. Christian was living the life he thought he should have. I think also he probably concocted a fantasy and prospective story of him being a hero of some sort (tried to rescue Christian from the bad carjackers or something) and also could swoop in and comfort the ex-girlfriend.

I thought the same thing as far as Christian living the life Pedro wanted. UF is a really hard school to get into. I read somewhere that Christian was also the valedictorian of their school. So here's Christian, he goes to an amazing school that Pedro can't attend, he's super smart, he's a super nice guy that everyone likes, and now he was dating pedro's ex girlfriend. Sounds like the guy had a lot of reasons to be jealous. It sounds like a little switch went off in Pedro's head and he just snapped. I read that Pedro had hunting guns which he sold to be able to go up to Gainesville. It sounds like he was really obsessed with the ex girlfriend. She says she doesn't believe they were fighting over her and while I believe there were more reasons pedro harmed christian, I do believe ex girlfriend was a big reason.

Ok, so that's not much time to get to know the area. So, he either is an outdoor adventurist and has been exploring, or he did some research. If he bought the items a few days before, then he was planning. Should be internet history if that's the way he went, or he talked to people about cool places to hike, or he just happened across somewhere in his daily travels that he kept filed away.

Any areas within a 5 mile radius that you can drive down a dirt road that are secluded? Or did I just open a massive can of worms with that question? (some places have literally nothing like that, and others are riddled.) I don't know the area at all, just working off past case histories.

Just a side note, that if he did in fact murder him, and then transported the body (which could explain why the vehicle is missing), then the trailing dogs that they've brought in aren't going to be of much help. They're looking for live scent.

It does make me wonder though if one of these groups on the case has a trailing dog trained in car trailing. If they can get one and start at the Best Buy, they might get a direction of travel at minimum. This is a specialized thing though and I don't know how readily available they are out there.

Yes - there are plenty. Not riddled with them, but definitely some near many of those places. Plenty of places in gainesville that you can get to without knowing the area well. Paynes Prairie is where I would hide a body - I go into more detail in an earlier post - I'll try to find it. Lots of old/desolate cemeteries too, but I didn't know about those for about 5 years of the 7 I lived there =P

There are so many dirt roads in Gainesville. Not sure where on the map but I have been down a billion myself. They brought in a few different kinds of dogs, but I'm not sure if there's one that trails vehicles. And I agree that they need to get a hold of this guys computer because it DEFINITELY looks premeditated.

Per the presser, TES is there and other agencies have helped too. They brought in both bloodhounds and cadaver dogs (per the presser), but they didn't turn up anything.

Paynes Prairie was one of the first places that came to mind to me too. Everyone knows where Paynes Prairie is. It's easy to get to, and it's huge enough to hide a body.

Yeah, HRD dogs are only gonna work if they have a general idea where to look.
