Tentative plea deal for Rivera confirmed by SA!!!!!

"When asked about the delay in today's hearing, State Attorney Willie Meggs indicated there is a tentative deal."
Who's the guy speaking with Rivera is this article? It looks like Garcia's attorney. Are opposing attorney's allowed to speak with clients that are not their's?

Also, wasn't Garcia finally getting his long awaited bond hearing today or yesterday? Anyone know?

I hope arrest warrants for the A’s are being processed right now.
But ugh…. Rivera might get a really sweet deal. He may be offered a concurrent sentence with his current federal sentence, and be released in 2026.

"We gave up a little more than we wanted to give up in the desire to get information that we needed," Meggs told WCTV. "We knew we would have to give up something and we did."

Rivera is talking a plea deal today with the DA ! With the arrest of Magbanua and Rivera's plea deal, this murder case will start moving much faster and arrest of some of the Adelson's will take place soon!

The Adelsons must be shaking in their boots!!

Perhaps they're all meeting in the back corner again, away from any surreptitious surveillance which did not capture their conversations before, as they talk discussing what their next steps are?

Break for the border time for the Adelsons...
Ok. Just another question. How hard would it be to take a boat (personal) from Florida to Mexico and escape law enforcement?

I wonder if Rivera decided KM would probably make a deal and decided to get in ahead of her.

i bet the cops are really squeezing them.

I'm wondering how Garcia fits in with all of this. Hopefully there's more to the plea than him simply pointing the finger at Garcia.

I think it would be extremely difficult for any of the Adelsons to escape at this point. I would guess they're all being tailed 24/7.

Rivera was scheduled to go before a judge 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, but the hearing was abruptly changed and pushed back to 3 p.m.
When asked about the delay in today's hearing, State Attorney Willie Meggs indicated there is a tentative deal. There's no word yet on the details of that deal.
That still leaves questions open as to what a plea deal would mean for the other two current suspects in the case, Sigfredo Garcia and Katherine Magbanua, and whether or not there will be any additional arrests. When asked about that, Meggs said he wasn't sure on where it would lead but they're on the trail.
rbbm.

It would take at least a few days, you'd need a liveaboard boat, and experience with long distance navigation. Boats always have to register when they land, so they'd need lots of false papers, or get someone else to take them.

I imagine they're being closely monitored, if they got on a boat LE'd be there in minutes.

No disrespect intended, but Wilie Meggs sure likes to talk, doesn't he?

It is true that the first to plead typically gets the best deal. But it seems to me that, even with Rivera's apparent plea, the DA still has a strong incentive to want KM's cooperation. She -- not Rivera -- was the one who had direct contact with the As, particularly CA. I'm not sure that Rivera will have admissible, non-hearsay evidence that could be used against the As. If Rivera testified, "Garcia (or KM) told me that the As would pay us $50K to kill their ex-son-in-law," that would be inadmissible hearsay if offered to prove that the As actually did do that, right? What the DA really wants is for KM to testify, "CA asked me to serve as a go-between with SG to arrange the murder of DM. The As set me up with a BS 'job' at their dental office where I was paid not for doing real work, but for arranging the hit." That may be what's needed to convict CA and DA.

Not hard at all Razz. It's only about 330 miles from Key West to Isla Mujeres. With a bit of sailing know-how, not a difficult sail at all. Power boat would be quicker if it can carry enough fuel. Not sure I'd risk it right now though :)
