IMO, I think it depends if anyone in the A family (not in prison at that time) files for custody. If both the Markel gparents and A family members file for custody, there would be a custody hearing where a judge would decide which environment would be best suited for the boys. Age would be a factor against the Markel GPs, but Dan also has a sister who may be interested in custody.

While I agree with the statement on the hearing for the custody of the boys, I cannot imagine a judge considering a member of the A. Family if one or more are in prison for the murder of Dan. After all, as the judge will surely know, the argument on the city where the boys were to live is what got Dan murdered. Grandmother Donna wanted them to live close to her. For me, the Alderman's do not lead a life that is the type Dan or his family live, let alone raise children in.

Take these boys away from all this filth and let them grow up in a new environment while they are still young. They have a rough road ahead of them, but with good therapists and a loving secure home, may they become the young men Dan hoped they would be.

Yes, I do hope the M's would be given custody of the boys for those reasons, but there is another brother of WA who does not appear to be involved in the hit and, IIRC, live in another state. While I would not agree with the decision, I could see a judge awarding custody to that brother and his wife with the rationale that such placement would give the boys consistency by keeping them in their mother's family. The judge is likely to consider the ages of the Markels should both parties sue for custody. Another complicating factor is that the Markels live outside the US.

If DM's sister should sue for custody instead of her parents, that would eliminate the age factor, but I'm not sure where she lives. If she also lives in Canada, that would remain an obstacle. I don't know much about family law, so I don't know how that will come into play. But, I do know that judges often make unpopular decisions, based upon a detached analysis of the options rather than allowing their emotions to guide them. I had a coworker who battled for primary custody of her sons for years. Initially after she and her husband separated, her ex wanted nothing to do with the children and so the coworker moved out of state to be near her parents. She had a good, stable job. Then her ex and his new GF moved into the area also and began fighting for custody, and then continued the fight after he remarried and moved over 500 mi. away. After numerous court battles, my coworker ran out of money to continue the fight while her ex and his new wife owned a lucrative business. They finally ended up with a judge who decided to award custody to the ex because she (the judge) felt he and his new wife could provide a better home environment for the boys since they had more money. It was so unfair because having more money does not naturally equal a more loving, stable and nurturing home environment.

I will be terribly disappointed if the M's are not awarded custody of the boys. Of course, none of the A's have been arrested yet so we don't know if WA will be arrested and convicted. If WA escapes prosecution and retains custody of the boys, I think the boys will begin looking into what happened to their dad as they enter their teens. They will figure things out for themselves and it will make them very bitter against their mother and her family. I don't know of any families in which one parent had another murdered, but I have known some in which one parent was abusive and the parents shared custody after divorcing. When the children got older and began to understand the situation between their parents, they wanted nothing to do with the abusive party and severed ties when they turned 18.

Can any of you give me a good educated guess when an A will be arrested?? This is killing me. Anyone think they will get off?? I have a vested interest in this and dont understand what is taking so long. Please someone reassure me that justice will be served.

It will be before KM trial date which hasn't been picked yet. So once she accepts a plea deal before her trial date then Charlie and Donna will be arrested.

So I would assume that her lawyers are simply trying to negotiate a lenient sentence for her as we speak.

So imo. An arrest will be soon once her lawyers see that her goose is cooked and the D.A is willing to work with her for exchange of a light sentence.

Hope you are not in the middle of a dental procedure!

Imo. The Markels should file a civil suit against the Adelsons today. Because it's time to open up the books and get answers from them.

I am hoping that CA will be arrested on his 40[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday October 27.
KM has been behind bars for 3 weeks now, and I think she will soon bargain her way out of jail.
Then, CA will go to jail. And, perhaps DA also will be jailed at the same time. Maybe WA, too!

Sounds like WA is high maintenance. I watched her interview video when she found out that DM was killed and her reactions looked too fake and acted just like Mark Sievers , blew it by talking about her brother. I think she was in on it in the beginning and want other ppl to take the fall for it. Its really sad that this is the second high profile case in Florida that the kids end up suffering because the other spouse cant stand their other half. DCF should get involved and take the kids away from the A family ASAP.

4 of the 5 "grown up" Adelsons have clearly demonstrated they have a screw loose. I can't imagine a judge letting those boys go to another Adelson.

1. LR started being questioned by police and was shown the Prius photos etc. around the time SG got arrested on 5-25-16. It took about 4 months for him to plea. unfortunately, It could take just as long for KM to navigate through the process, "Come to Jesus", and negotiate her final deal.
2. it's usually best to wait until after the criminal case conviction to file the civil case. after the criminal conviction - the defendant can't take the 5th, new evidence will have been found during the criminal trial that will be useful in the civil trial, and there will be no question about the motives of the victim's family. there is no statute of limitations for filing a civil case for murder in FL - "The Jeffrey Klee Memorial Act was put into effect to remove the statute of limitations for filing a wrongful death claim in cases of murder or manslaughter. Generally, the statute of limitations to file a claim in Florida is two years. Under this law, families whose loved one is murdered or killed in a case of manslaughter may file a claim at any time regardless of how much time has passed. The Jeffrey Klee Memorial Act was signed into Florida law in 2010." now i wonder if the alleged masterminds are protecting/transferring/hiding assets as we speak in preparation for a possible future civil trial.

Imo.

If Charlie is still allowed to practice dental on his patients.
Then the dental board should be overseeing his work.

Plus if Wendi is still employed. Then the runner up should sue the employer. Jmo.

Because I would hate to find out that I can't get the job because someone wants to keep the wife on board that may have had their husband killed.

Jmo

Wonder what the other "A" brother, who is a doctor in NY, thinks about all of this? He has been strangely silent. But, if I were him, I would stay as far away from all this madness as possible. I think he may be the only family member who has his head screwed on tight.

IMHO

Just how important to the case is the gun used in the murder?
The only time i felt there was a slight hesitation in LR's plot reveal in the LE interview, was when he was asked to tell them the location of the gun.
Wonder if it has since been found?

Also wondering about CA's buddy in the " special forces" whom he allegedly ( as stated by JL) claimed, would be able to help CA, uh, fix tvs.
If there really is such a person, has he/she been located, do they pose a potential danger to any of the remaining players in the drama, do they read here?
all speculation, imo.

In addition, the fact that a murder weapon has not been found is an obvious factor. Was it tossed into the canal that runs at the end of Markel’s street? Was it taken back to South Florida?

"Wendi had reported to me that Charlie had considered all the options possible to take care of this problem," he said. "She said it in a dead serious, chilling, uncomfortable way."

When investigators asked Lacasse how he thought Adelson would have committed the murder, he said: "He'd get his buddy in the special forces to do this, or he'd get some seedy guys down in the Cuban neighborhood or something like that."

I hope so, but don't know enough about these things. If it's true,I hope she can take the whole family down.

Could be. But, unless I missed it, I think at this point she was only charged with murder pursuant to a probable cause affidavit. To have a formal indictment for first degree murder, the state needs to take the case to a grand jury. I seriously hope you are right though.
