GUILTY FL - Dan Markel, 41, FSU Law Professor, Tallahassee, 18 July 2014 - #6 *arrests*

My guess is that WA was totally unaware of the assassination initially, but soon after found out that family was involved. If she is questioned under oath, and is asked if she discussed it with her mother or Charlie, it would no doubt implicate them or perjurer herself, hence the 5th.

I think there is enough to point to her knowing before as well. That she is currently working as the head of an immigration policy tank to fight family separation - while deplorably separating Dan's children from Dan's parents - is mindblowing. Who are these people who hired her for this ironic position?

Years back, I had a friend who lived in Colorado with her two children. Ironically her family was wealthy and live in South Florida. She was ordered by the court to stay in Colorado because that's where her ex husband and father of her children lived so she did and accepted it. Noone in her family would have even entered the thought of killing her ex husband which is insane! It just shows how abnormal and sick and evil the Markel situation is. How CA could even go this bad is beyond me. I believe it was him alone who orchestrated this but I could be wrong. MOO

Donna made the payments to Katie, Charlie was definitely not alone in orchestrating.

Among those scheduled to be deposed: Dan Markel’s parents, several of the couple's close friends, ex-wife Wendi Adelson’s boyfriend at the time, a host of police and forensic investigators, and a jail inmate recently added to the state’s witness list.

Sorry, too late to edit my post.. had been about to question who the recently added jailed inmate might be, then remembered this guy, could it be him if he is still in jail, if so- what could he add to the mix?

"A former cellmate of Sigfredo Garcia said the accused murderer of Dan Markel believes he's beyond redemption.

The former cellmate told investigators that Garcia, 35, said “he did not believe he himself could be saved” during a January conversation in which he opened up about the July 2014 murder, according to court records obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat.

The inmate was released in June after being charged with escape from the community release center in Tallahassee."
While they worked out, the conversation turned to religion and salvation. The former inmate said Garcia told him he was facing the death penalty for a murder he was paid to carry out."

There is NOTICE OF TAKING DEPOSITION filed on 6/21/2019 and 6/27/2019, but I don't know the specifics of who is being deposed nor the date of the deposition.
Court records aren't available to be viewed on the court website. The documents must be requested separately, which is what the WCTV reporter would have done.

There are no listed hearing dates prior to the SEP dates you have.

There is a new motion hearing and transport order on Magbanua's docket.
No motion hearing on Garcia's docket, but there is a transport order.

*Motions Hearing (@ 1pm ET) - FL – Daniel Eric Markel (41) (July 18, 2014, Tallahassee) - *Sigfredo Garcia (34) arrested & charged (5/25/16) with 1st degree murder, conspiracy & solicitation of murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. DP case.
Murder for Hire hit man. They split a $100K payoff for murder.
only for *Katherine Magbanua (32) (Garcia's wife) arrested (Oct. 2016) & charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy & solicitation of murder were brought together into one case on Tuesday (3/20/18). Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
KM has rejected several offers of immunity for her testimony.
Trial was to start 6/3/19, but has been delayed to 9/23/19.

6/17/19 Update: Motion for Recommendation to Leon County Sheriff's office for defendant to have access to MP3 player to review discovery. A continuance was granted today & June 3 trial is off. Status conference set for June 18.
6/18/19 Update: Next pretrial hearings on 9/4 & 9/19. Trial date set for both on 9/23/19.
7/2/19 Update: Wendi Adelson gave her deposition today. Among those scheduled to be deposed on 7/15/19: Dan Markel’s parents, several of the couple's close friends, ex-wife Wendi Adelson’s boyfriend at the time, a host of police and forensic investigators, and a jail inmate recently added to the state’s witness list.
7/15/19 Update: only Magbanua has motion hearing on 7/17 @ 1pm.
Accomplice:
*Luis Rivera (33) charged with 1st degree murder. Took a plea deal (Oct. 2016) & plead guilty to 2nd degree murder. Will testify against Garcia & Magbanua. Will receive 19-year sentence to run concurrently with his 12 year Federal time, which he is already serving.
POIs: Wendi Adelson (ex-wife of Markel), her bro Charlie, mom Donna Sue Adelson (68) & father Harvey Adelson. Investigators have not charged anyone in the Adelson family in connection with Markel’s death, but say Adelson’s mother and brother – Donna and Charlie Adelson – paid $100,000 to have Markel killed following the couple’s contentious divorce so their two young sons could move to South Florida.
