Listen, if it's this hard to convict KM and we all agree that the evidence is overwhelming against her, imagine how hard it would be to convict the Adelsons?? It's not happening folks. The Adelsons will be in civil court, not criminal.

Tell me ain't so, Weki. Please.

But for the opposite reason that Katie was not convicted (at least not yet, and it looks only ONE holdout in her case ), the A's are in group (rich, jewish and arrogant) that will not have the sympathy KM got. Moo.

Court TV just read a letter from CA's attorney. I'm going from memory - but it started with some feigned sympathy for the Markel family and that they must be relieved that SG was convicted. But that CA and his family had nothing to do with the murder and that's why they were never charged in this case and that this is why people are tried in the court and not via "podcasts or the internet". He also implied that KM was innocent. Surprise.
Two down, four to go.

Here is the full statement:

My first reaction is that I hope the Markel family feels some sense of justice and relief that Garcia was convicted. This trial must have been so hard and taxing on them. My second reaction is that the prosecution couldn't prove its theory on Katie after 3 years of really thorough investigation and preparation. This is why they have not charged Charlie and his family--the case simply isn't there. We don't charge people based on podcast and internet speculation. David Oscar Markus

I really hope to be wrong. But I can’t think of any reason why they haven’t charged anyone in the Adelson family yet! They must feel they don’t have enough to convict. Or they could be waiting to get these two out of the way first. I guess that’s possible. To see if KM changes her mind at any point and flips to make the case against the Adelson’s stronger. Now they may feel like there’s an opening to re-open negotiations. Possible. I’m no expert just a lay person and a realist.

No mention of the grandparents and if they have seen or will see their grandchildren.

This is a must listen to interview!! Friends in high places anyone?

Yes, it was very enlightening. I was unaware of the backstory.

agree!! Friends in high places ... may be why WA replied on stand ... "they're not going to come arrest me"

I think the proximity of KM to the actual killers makes her case a lot stronger. But there's no communication between CA and KM where he tells her to hire someone to do the kill. There's only communication after the bump and the financial transactions. It's still pretty good circumstantial evidence imo. But I don't know if it's beyond a reasonable doubt. I just feel like if state were going to indict the Adelsons they'd have done so by now. I'm not hopeful. JMO.

eta: Even then it'd only be CA. No way DA and WA get indicted. IMO.
Good point. The jury may have thought there could have been direct communication btwn CA and SG via burner phones or WhatsApp and that KM did not know it was a plot to murder until after the fact??? Meaning, maybe they thought KM could have put CA in touch with SG for a high paying job but she did not know the substance of the job till afterwards.... JMO.

The absence of evidence is not evidence.

Weki I agree with you
The states attorney has frankly said she doesn’t have enough evidence to go forward against the others.

It’s been hammered over and over that she needs KM. Well maybe KM will flip now that she knows SG ain’t coming home. The value of her flippery I think is compromised by her testimony at this trial but I don’t know.
IMO I wish this wasn’t a death penalty case because if the state is going to try KM again they need to start focusing on that future retrial on Monday morning. I think it’s ridiculous that SG could get the death penalty while LR got 7 years. I don’t think this jury is going to give him death either if multiple jurors are crying at the emotional SG/KM tableau in court today.

"It's ok to lose, but just try!" - commentator on CourtTV. I totally agree! At least try! The Adelsons have to be held accountable for their wickedness.

Can Tallahassee bring in a better prosecutor than GC to try the case?

I don't know how high up the ladder the attorney being interviewed is but he didn't pull any punches. The family should have been sitting right there along side the two defendants and in his opinion there is enough evidence to bring them up on charges. It could have influenced the jury not to convict KM that the real conspirators weren't on trial with her. It seems the state is leery of taking on the high dollar attorneys from down south and there might be politics at play as well.

I think she's a fine prosecutor. My only complaints with her were A. She should have cross-examined Katie longer and more harshly. She seemed to phone it in. and B. The disorganization of the first half of her closing and the lack of impact contained in her rebuttal. Still, I think she presented all the facts clearly.

I don't see how the State can do Trial 2 against KM without an Adelson there. This should force the State's hand JMO.

I think the hung juror was not going to convict NO matter what GC said. NOTHING would have worked! Facts had no bearing on her(?) decision.
