At this point, I'm almost having enough compassion for KM that I think she should be let out on time served if she talks and all the Adelsons get convicted. She seems to have so severely been taken advantage of by the two men in her life (CA mostly, but also SG who got paid).

Charlie is trying to grope for the right words in case Katie is wired for music maybe ? I love his story about a stick up of McDonalds in Orlando using a rented car. Perhaps working on teeth at $80 an hour was not enough and he had Walter Mitty flights of fantasy into stick ups too . Some people never have enough dosh.

Charlie never uses the word murder, never mentions any victim in these transcripts (as far as I hear). He does say "this horrible thing". He's on the edge of his seat during some of the video we see - he's unhinged at the thought he an mum are going to pay this extortion for ever and he's suspicious that KM may be in on it with the Latin Mafia too.

Harvey Adelson is 77 or 78 years old. There have been comments on this board that mentally he is faltering a bit due to age. That's to say he has early stage dementia. I can't verify that but it is reasonable at that age so perhaps I should not have repeated it. His cell phone was used in two conversations to do with the murder plot according to police records (you 'd have to go through the whole boring phone saga exposition in the first trial to check that but I believe it is true ) . It's likely someone like Donna simply used it. He's just a tooth cracker not a murderer. He also did not trust CJA to do any but the simplest dental work. He didnot want the Adel institute sued. Charlie has had at least one legal action against him and possibly others. Various posters here know more about that. Not only does CJA use the word Fk very often as you can now see... he does not give Fk. In the litigated case a patient got severely abscessed and had to be fixed by another dentist. Perhaps Charlie was spending too much time thinking about holding up McDonalds Orlando FL, or paying for murders in Leon Cty and lost the plot on on the patient.

It has been so long since I thought and read about this case. I'm so happy to hear that they finally arrested and charged Charlie. It has had to be so devastating to Dan's family and friends that the people who arranged to have him killed have for so long been dodging being properly held accountable. I hope and pray that this arrest is sparks a swift end game that results in the convictions of and sufficiently severe sentences for each Adelson family member who had a role in Dan's murder or the efforts to obstruct justice from being served.

It is not beyond possibility that this G Jury has been convened and convinced so that CJA is charged and in custody or simply charged and bailed so that every potential juror knows this when the KM case goes to trial in May.

That way in these jurors minds they will "know" that not just Someone (Latino mob ??, disgruntled past student ) paid for KM to give money to SG and LR to kill D. Markel but that CJA paid for it - allegedly. It therefore becomes a lot easier logically to convict KM. The cunning bit is that the charge was not an arrest affidavit coming straight from G Cappleman's / Campbells's office - it came from a grand jury of citizens. And there is not a thing lawyer T. Kawass can do about it except scream to Judge Wheeler about tainted juries . I don't thing he will care .

*Status Conference Hearing (@10 am ET) - FL – Daniel Eric Markel (41) (shot to death July 18, 2014, Tallahassee) - *Katherine Magbanua (32/now 37) (Garcia's wife) arrested (Oct. 2016) & charged with first-degree murder & 1 count conspiracy & 1 count solicitation of murder were brought together into one case on Tuesday (3/20/18). Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Murder for Hire hit man. They split a $100K payoff for murder KM has rejected several offers of immunity for her testimony.
First trial started on 9/23/19. Jury: 10 women & 2 men & 1 alternate (woman); was 2 alternates one (man) got sick & excused on 10/3/19. Jury Deliberations on 10/10/19: 4.5 hours. 10/11: 6.5 hours for guilty verdict on Garcia. Mistrial declared for Magbanua. (10-2 for guilty). Total 11 hours. Will remain in jail as a charged co-conspirator, and the State will try her case again.
Re-Trial set to begin on 5/16/22 with jury selection. (should last 3 weeks).

2/8/22 Update: Trial continuance-granted. Next pretrial hearing on 3/31/22 & on 5/8/22 & trial will now begin on 5/16/22. 3/31/22 Update: Next case management conference hearing on 4/8/22 & pretrial hearing on 5/13/22.
4/8/22 Update: Judge Wheeler wanted to know if discovery is being received by defense. State says she sent transcript to defense & will be emailing it also per defense‘s request. Defense depos still need to be taken; they have received vast amounts of data – double the time they thought they would have. All discovery should be done by 4/15/22 deadline. All pretrial motions have a deadline of 5/2/22. Next hearing on 4/22/22 for status. Final pretrial hearing on 5/13/22 & jury selection will begin on 5/16/22.

*Luis Rivera (33) charged with 1st degree murder. Took a plea deal (Oct. 2016) & plead guilty to 2nd degree murder. Will testify against Garcia & Magbanua. Will receive 19-year sentence to run concurrently with his 12 year Federal time, which he is already serving.
POIs: Wendi Adelson (ex-wife of Markel), her bro Charlie, mom Donna Sue Adelson (68) & father Harvey Adelson. Investigators have not charged anyone in the Adelson family in connection with Markel’s death, but say Adelson’s mother and brother – Donna and Charlie Adelson – paid $100,000 to have Markel killed following the couple’s contentious divorce so their two young sons could move to South Florida.
4/21/22 Update: Charlie Adelson was taken into custody "without incident" Thursday morning at his home by the FBI. State Attorney Jack Campbell said Adelson was indicted Wednesday by a Leon County Grand Jury in connection with Markel's July 2014 execution-style shooting in Tallahassee, which investigators say was a murder-for-hire financed by his in-laws. The state attorney said newly enhanced audio from a secret recording done at a South Florida restaurant led to Adelson’s arrest. He also lauded the extensive work of investigators. The so-called Dulce Vida recording, taken in 2016 by FBI agents at the Miami restaurant of the same name, captures a conversation between Magbanua & Charlie Adelson in which they allegedly discuss undercover agents approaching his mom about Markel’s shooting. Prosecutors say the conversations detail the chain of information flow about the murder conspiracy.

So called transcription after Mr McElveen's efforts larger transcription, 37 pages Front page says audio is 34:01 minutes long this is on lines 23 to 25 of page 24 of 38 of the recently deposited transcription with the court.

In fact he drops a hot potato - I believe . Did the transcriber intentionally excise it ? It does not make a lot of sense in context of looking after Latino hit men in prison, but the context of
Jewish Charity does. Charlie likes to run off at the mouth - some of what he says in general is in a slightly parallel reality - like the idea of his carrying a pistol in a back holster and gunning
down a blackmailer and getting away with it without any penalty.

No way is that transcription correct - what Charlie really says is below - starting at 15:30 time stamp. Run audio at 0.5 time factor from Settings in Youtube.

After that, the Ytube audio version stops and I have not been able to find the part 3/3 version that continues this Dolce Vita tape.

There is definitely "people" in the spoken words. There is NO somebody. It makes you wonder how accurate the rest of the transcription is. I know there is a child's voice in the background at times, but that voice is not present for the words I quote.

Magbanua sold a decent and just man down the river to his execution (she warned Rivera and Garcia that he was out of town Saturday and they'd better kill him Friday in LR's version of events). She did this for the price of a pair of false breasts (I was about to use the T word). That's her level of morals and morality.

She deserves about 12-14 years for being the go between plus extensive parole time once she gets out. At 14 years nominal by FL standards she'd do 8.5 years. She helped kill for money & if you do that in FL with a prior felony or murder behind you , you may get the DP.

Formerly Umchinda was going to testify on this but she proved dirty and may even have rxd a real estate payoff in this area. If you recall she tried to recant her written testimony in the first trial .

So now the prosec. have to use someone who knew Charlie a long time earlier (Ryan, new witness ) on this matter. Defense will say that CJA changed his habits with money meantime, post knowing Ryan. This is highly relevant to a KM conviction too. It's now looking a bit sad unless Ryan is a very plausible witness.

The sting operation seems to have been quite cunningly prepared - the information from the approaching agent appears to have been deliberately limited, to create the illusion that it had come from Rivera and his incomplete knowledge, rather than from the investigative files and their full picture. That's apparently what made Adelson believe that he was not dealing with an undercover.

By the way, it's amusing to see how many tabloid hacks are taking the calling agent's word "brother" literally, and have no clue that it's simply gang parlance. (Although I do have to say that the agent probably showed a little too much of his real self in the phone call - an actual "banger" would be likely to use a few obscenities and slang terms in the conversation, with the occasional louder and threatening demeanor.
