Funny, her being a lawyer and all - lawyers usually tell their clients to say nothing and contact your lawyer asap.

Too bad her brother and mother didn't do the same, she must have advised them during their alleged conspiring to not get a lawyer, talk to police a lot and try to be as helpful as possible. Maybe if they'd followed her advice, Charlie would have outsmarted police too.

JMO
She was in a quandary. She had to play the part of the grieving wife because she knew it was all recorded. She says a lot and she tries to pass the blame to her brother and I believe she mentions Jeff laCasse as well. If she clams up immediately it solves the immediate problem but then the investigation focuses on her. I think Det ISOM immediately suspected her but he'd also seen her ID Card for TSU - law school so he had to be careful least she shut down the conversation.

I would say that Wendi advised the whole family about the structure of the communications leading up to the plot and No Emails, no text messages would have been one of the rules. That's why the electronic evidence is so sparse.

Does anyone know if KM's original phone was recovered ? I know she bought a new one to replace it but did she store that first phone and were the police able to trace when it was bought and if bought for cash.

======================
TV matter - one aspect that is most strange. Donna apparently booked this from 700km away. Perhaps she just used her first name to do the booking , hoping that would create some confusion if the police checked out the story. Another possibility is that if it were booked by someone else and had to be rebooked because of a change of plans, the dual booking for the one repair would not be such a flag as Wendi would do the second booking.
It's almost as if CJA and DA were doing all the alibi planning.

One question I have from the day of the murder is, “Did WA have a babysitter lined up for the stock the bar party she told the detective she was planning to attend that evening? Or did she forget to schedule a sitter because she knew she wouldn’t need one?”

So you think she actually drove down Trescott and turned around before the driveway? Wow. Then that is interesting.
Did she say why she turned around?
I'm sure (or so I hope) they have phone records showing she called CA after tha
Officer Bill Brannon testified that he saw a car that looked like Wendi's car drive up to the crime scene tape on Trescott and do a 3 point turn. He said the tape was set up 2 houses north of CA's house on Trescott -- between Trescott and Centerville Rd. He also said that you could not see the crime scene tape from Centerville because there is a bend in the road. See below at 32:24.

Re Wendi, has anyone verified with Best Buy whether the Geek Squad actually did visit her home that morning? If not it doesn’t totally exculpate her but it lends truth to the story that there was a TV repair involved, however dated that seems. But if BB/GS has no record of such a visit that’s hugely damaging to her.

Good point. It's clear now (to me) that the whole "TV" thing was part of their code wording. Which is so darkly ironic for a family a narcissists. The fact that Donna arranged the TV repair and let her know it had been scheduled tells a whole different story now, to me.

Like many of you, this case isn't far from my thoughts this week.

I got to thinking about those boys. One day they are going to be old enough to start wanting to know about their father and questioning things and have their own minds to make decisions. They will make friends and partners who have critical thinking skills to put all the pieces together.

They will have no option but to see that their father was killed because of THEM. By their own mother, uncle and grandmother. The motive for KILLING THEIR OWN FATHER was them. Talk about burdening your children/grandchildren with a lifetime of survivor guilt, even though they had absolutely nothing to do with this.

This is the behavior of Malignant Narcissism in my opinion. Sure, everyone may have a passing thought of "wouldn't it be so much easier if that person was dead?", but to take that in to a well thought out plan, act on it, scheme about it, execute it and cover it up, essentially throwing those children under the bus. It's just unfathomable.

Hopefully that family money, if there is any left after expensive defenses, will go toward therapy for those boys.

Officer Bannon will have to a whole lot better than a car that "looked like Wendi's " to convince a jury. That's not a nasty comment - there might have been insufficient police and a lot going on when Wendi allegedly turned up. However if they don't have a registration plate they really have nothing --- unless Wendi was being tracked by her phone precisely.

One thing that has me beat - does anyone know if WJA has an Apple I phone of at least version five ? If she did , that phone and subsequent models do GPS recordings on where it is on either a change of position or so many per hr basis.

Apple Inc has made it impossible to turn this off. This is one of the reasons for their refusal to assist in any form of passwork cracking for seized phones. The user can turn off whether this information is transmitted as part of the metadata but the internal storage is a hard algorithm. THe police allegedly did a dump of the memory of her phone - you can see it being taken from her in the interview video.

This is one hell of a question. Its similar to the "why didn't Wendi ask any questions about the safety of her kids in the first 4 hours of the police interview discussing the violent daylight shooting of her law professor ex-husband?". She presumably doesn't know the time of the shooting or any of the details but seems confident that her kids are safe.

We never heard any of these details in the first trial, and I doubt its because law enforcement or the prosecution never thought of them - but more likely that they are dead ends. But you never know!

The assassination of Dan Markel was planned for months by an extremely wealthy and educated family. (How the hell is Magbanua still not talking???). Luckily they seem to have made just enough mistakes to get caught. Or at least some of them did.

This question reminds me of one I had soon after the murder.

Did Wendy have an apt/house lined up to live? I mean - why wouldn’t she unless she knew something was going to go down? Wonder if G Cappleman has investigated this?

Wendi had moved out months before.

Wendi had moved out months before.
If I'm not mistaken DM came home from a trip to find the marital home cleaned out with divorce papers nearby. WA said in a note that she and the boys had moved to South FL where she and the boys lived with her mother.

A judge from Tallahassee ordered her and the boys back to Tallahassee. It was probably then she found her own place. They each had custody of the boys, sharing different days etc.

It was then that things got pretty bad. She was basically "trapped" in Tallahassee with no way to get back to S. Fl until the day DM was murdered. Soon after that, she and the boys moved to S. Fl.

This is only my recollection.

Right - exactly. But since she was ordered to stay did she seek out another living arrangement? That could be key to determining her mind set. Was it month to month or did her landlord let her out due to the circumstances? Just wondering.

Charlie Adelson makes first appearance in court for Markel murder charges - Court TV
''While his team hoped to bond him out, that didn’t happen due to his first-degree murder charge. It’s a decision that his attorney Margot Moss said they’ll fight.

“We will be filing a motion for Arthur hearing shortly,” Moss said in court Tuesday. “We understand the charges he has right now are no bondable offenses, but we will be filing to rectify that in the future.”

Criminal Defense Attorney Don Pumphrey explained that an Arthur hearing is requested when someone is charged with an offense that comes with an automatic no bond.

“A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. In the Arthur hearing, there are just certain cases where the person has to petition and the judge has to hear the evidence,” Pumphrey said. “Basically, the state is going to put on their evidence to show that the proof is evident and the presumption is great.”

Markel, Adelson sparred up to the end (tallahassee.com)
''While he was away, his then-wife and fellow FSU College of Law professor Wendi Adelson, moved out of the house, taking the toddlers with the help of her parents. Divorce paperwork dated Sept. 5, 2012, before Markel had left for his trip, sat on what used to be the couple’s shared bed. She left no address where she and the children were, court filings said.''

''Markel called his family’s exodus a “plundering” and “his worst nightmare,” in divorce filings. He likened it to infamous military attacks: “A Visigoth-like sacking of the marital home” part of a “Pearl Harbor style separation.”

''Adelson, court documents filed by Markel said, took whatever furniture and belongings she wanted for herself and the boys. No pajama bottoms, no diapers, no wipes, not even the elder son’s bed remained at the house. All that was left was a crib mattress on the floor. She also took Markel’s tennis racket and family jewelry, and removed hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and equities from their bank and investment accounts.''

''For weeks, Markel said, Adelson gave “no correct information” on where the boys lived. He would later learn Adelson and the children moved to her parents' Coral Springs home.

With the boys, the jewelry and furniture went all evidence of the once-happy union.''

After the murder WA moved into her parents rental apt in South Beach for approx the first year, then moved into her own rental apt which she recently purchased.

We all know she moved to South Florida after the murder - where did she live the week before the murder and did she have a lease for that year. She was suppose to stay there as ordered by the judge. It’s just speculation that maybe she knew she wouldn’t need a place to live in Tallahassee - JMO.

Yes, she had her own apt. However, I don't know the lease info.
