No updates, still searching for them. Police continue search of man wanted in connection for missing 70-year-old woman
Didn't see this called out yet - this article also states, "The Thomasville Police Department found the white Toyota Tacoma driven by Robert Carter on Cemetery Road in Ochlocknee on Friday."$5000 reward offered Reward offered in search of Thomas County wanted man
snipped: Our sister station, WALB, reports that Carter is now a suspect in different cases and the connection is, he did handy work and construction work for several residential people.
A Thomasville man accused of several crimes remained behind bars Monday night after bond was denied during his first court appearance.
Captain Steve Jones describes how they found Carter.
"With the two helicopters in the air is why we think he was bedded down, and stayed in one, pretty much central location," Jones said. "And one of the search teams actually found him in the river."
It has been more than a week since a Thomas County woman went missing and the search is now intensifying to track her down.
Carter has a long list of charges including exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and kidnapping along with other charges.
The convicted child molester was taken into custody following a massive manhunt involving numerous local, state and federal law enforcement officers.
Officials with the Thomasville Police Department, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia State Patrol and other agencies are currently searching in an area behind the Peaceful Rest Cemetery, located just off of North Pine Tree Boulevard in Thomasville.
Teams are searching a thick wooded area and a swamp behind the cemetery. A GSP helicopter is helping search from the sky, while law enforcement officers are searching on foot and on ATVs.
Authorities are not releasing details on why that specific area is being searched. However, officials say that since the Georgia Bureau of Investigation asked for help from the public yesterday regarding the case, numerous tips have come in that they're following up on.
Moped? I had not read about a moped. Link please.I read that he owned a moped and put it in Ms. Shirey's car as transportation back to Thomasville.
If anyone is still confused about where this is taking place like I was - Thomasville (where Deanna lived/went missing) is in South Georgia, just 45 min or so northeast of Tallahassee (where her car was dumped). The city where RC’s car was found - Ochlocknee - is just outside of Thomasville to the north.
So the only connection so far to Tallahassee, FL so far is her car being found there. I wonder if he took a bus back after dropping the car?
It sounds like he has been causing a lot of problems for the residents in the Thomasville area. Glad he is caught. Very sad for Deanna and her family. Hopefully he will talk soon.
All IMO
Authorities have uncovered the body of Deanna Shirey, the Thomasville woman who was reported missing nearly two weeks ago.
Body of missing Thomasville woman foundTPD says Shirey's body was discovered within 50 feet of Robert Carter's home.
Carter, 47, was identified a person of interest on July 6 in the disappearance of Shirey. Police said they were searching for Carter in connection to a separate incident, but added that they "strongly believed" he was connected to Shirey's case
LE apparently missed finding her body one week ago when they searched Carter’s property.
