GUILTY FL - Denise Lee, 21, raped & murdered, North Port, 17 Jan 2008

Big Buck, and SS, I will cover your backsides any day. There is indeed, some instances where those in authority need to be bashed and held accountable. Denise tried on so many levels to save herself, and she was failed by many. God rest her soul....and God give strength to those she left behind. I would give anything in the world to be able to somehow help her husband, her father, her children, and many, many others who loved her and now grieve her loss.

Well said Reannan. Denise's story has touched my heart more so than most. I agree SS no more toning it down! When bashing is deserved bashing they will get.

We have Reannan covering our backsides so it is all good, Buck! LOL

That being said......I will wait for further details to be revealed before I add any further personal commentary about "Public Safety" around here as I'm damn sure I don't want to end up having to call 911!

The standard "He was such a nice guy" article......

http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20080203/NEWS/802030360

"King's family members told the Herald-Tribune they were stunned to hear the accusations against King. They said that if the evidence against him were not so overwhelming, they would not believe it. Family members and friends say they would not fear King if he walked in the door today."

"The family attributed King's "oddball" behavior to a childhood sledding accident, Rodney said. King crashed his head into a metal barn support and instead of getting him medical treatment, their parents put frozen hamburger meat on the wound, he said.

King's ex-wife, Danielle, said the injury was so bad that even as an adult, King heard buzzing in his head at night."

:boohoo:

Strange......this guy gives me the creeps just as much as the other Burger King does!

NORTH PORT -- The state will seek the death penalty against Michael King for the Jan. 17 murder of Denise Amber Lee.

In documents filed with the 12th circuit court in Sarasota Wednesday evening, Assistant State Attorney Lon Arend filed the grand jury indictment for first-degree murder, along with a notice of intent to seek the death penalty against King.

The state also filed an "information" formally charging King with one count of kidnapping and one count of sexual battery with the use of force or violence. The "information" -- which is akin to a complaint or a petition -- charges King with raping Lee by threatening her with violence likely to cause serious personal injury. King remains in jail with no bond.

He should be put UNDER the jail. This creep, I wish there was a special island somewhere where we could send all of the child molesters/killers and men like this one who kidnap/rape/torture and let them all kill each other off.

One of Nathan Lee's biggest fears is that his sons will grow up with no real memories of their mother, so every evening he has 2-year-old Noah kiss her good night.

"Who is that?" Nathan asks, pointing at a life-size picture of Denise Lee.

"Momma!" Noah replies.

"Give Momma a kiss," Nathan says, before lifting his son into a crib at the foot of his father's bed.

This is the ritual that keeps Nathan going as he faces the future without Denise, murdered last month after a shocking daylight abduction while her children napped in their North Port home.

Denise Lee never left the house without calling her husband. They talked continuously on the phone throughout the day. If Lee was going somewhere, if she met with someone -- if the baby needed juice -- she told husband Nathan Lee about it. So the question of how Denise was targeted Jan. 17, allegedly by Michael King, remains a mystery to Nathan. As far as he knows, Denise had not left the house alone for several days before her kidnapping and murder -- certainly not to go to the post office as one witness claimed.

"She told me everything about her day," Nathan said. "There was nothing we didn't share."

On the day of her kidnapping, Nathan spoke with Denise three times by phone, with the last call at 11:30 a.m. They discussed going to the store to get juice and other staples for Noah, 2, and Adam, 6 months, and agreed to go together later in the afternoon.

"She liked for me to go to the store with her to help with the kids and because she wanted to be with me," Nathan said.

Nathan reminded Denise to open the windows so they could turn the air-conditioning off and save money. Denise said she was giving Noah a haircut on the back porch. At 3 p.m., Nathan called Denise to tell her he was on his way home. There was no answer. He called six more times.

"At that point I was nervous," he said. The first thing Nathan noticed when he pulled into the driveway were the closed windows."

"NORTH PORT -- Denise Amber Lee was sexually assaulted before she was found murdered, and DNA collected from her body matches that of her alleged abductor and killer, Michael Lee King.

Both revelations were made public today in an updated probable cause affidavit by the North Port Police Department."

Did she have her own car?
I wonder if they were one of those couple that truly did want to share EVERYTHING (3 calls by 11:30am seems a bit much when working, IMO ) or did the husband want to know everything going on?

Still doesn't explain the murder... unless there was a detail or two he didn't know about because she wanted some freedom. I know I couldn't live like that, checking in all the time....

Don't most mailmen start their day early like @ 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM? If so, three calls by 11:30 doesn't sound excessive to me.

There are actually couples who do call each other quite a bit throughout the day (I call this a rarity), but they do exist.

If he's a mailman on a route, it wouldn't be hard for him to talk on his cell with Denise while he is walking from house to house. I am assuming that he was a "walker" and not a car deliverer throughout the day.

Her husband is a meter reader for FPL *Florida Power & Light* not a mailman, fyi

Thanks again for the updates RR. I've been wrapped up in the Bobby Cutts trial. It looks like a slam dunk on King. They should save you all some money and forget about a trial, bind him with duct tape, take him to the woods, and, pump one shot into his head from a 9mm! Does that sound familiar Michael Lee?

:furious:

My husband and I talk several times a day....I have never considered it to be checking in. We just miss each other. We take turns doing the calling. He called more often when my kids were babies. I'm glad I needed to talk to an adult sometimes during the day.

From the same article:

"Nathan wants to go back, too, but he worries about being alone with his thoughts all day as a meter reader for Florida Power & Light.

Denise used to keep Nathan company during the long work days. Nathan would put his cell phone in his breast pocket and leave it on speaker phone.

Most of the time the couple did not even talk. Nathan would listen to Denise read Noah a book or give the boys a bath."

Once again.....a girl can dream! But I am pretty sure that it will be handled in a courtroom right before The Department of Corrections makes room for him on Death Row. :behindbar

She had her own car. I believe they were a close loving couple who enjoyed their time together. They shared the special moments via phone concerning the children. I dont believe she was ordered to check in or anything like that. I think it is sweet how they kept in touch throughout the day. I wouldn't even entertain the thought that she had any interest at all in King. I am just sickened over it all.
