GUILTY FL - Denise Lee, 21, raped & murdered, North Port, 17 Jan 2008

I would never be to be hard on the working boys, it's the political top-dog adminsitrative position as Sheriff I was referring too. Whoever fills the position next needs to be prepared to stay busy!

The Sheriff is elected, but someone could come in from the outside and run against him. The Police Chief is appointed by the Mayor, if I am not mistaken, which means another person from the outside could be brought in.

"Long-time North Port resident Chuck Briggs reported to the Sun that he saw Denise Amber Lee around 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the North Port Post Office on U.S. 41. He remembered her struggling with a large package she was mailing, and he held open the door so she could enter. He did not see the two children with Lee. The witness also saw a man waiting in the post office line, about four people behind Lee, whom he now believes was Michael King. He said he made eye contact with King. The witness has reported this information to police."

This would start to fill in the blanks - except for where were her kids?!

Unfortunately - we have a history with our past sheriff's that I realllllly don't want to add into this mix. But it is an elected position. The Police Chief is in North Port and I am not as familiar with their procedures.

I understand your frustration. A department is only as good as the people who run it. When I first learned about that womans third 911 call giving her location yesterday, I could not understand how Denise wasn't found and saved with so many cops out looking for her. If her life was lost due to an error or, by procedures not followed the sheriffs head should roll.

I hate to speculate but, could she have ran out while her little ones napped??

Time will tell is all I can say.

I would imagine that there are surveillance cameras in the Post Office that could confirm this, but then again I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there wasn't.

Unfortunately 911 calls not being referred to the right police dept or referred at all happens way too often. Hopefully this case will bring light to that issue nationwide. If that call had gone through to the right officers undoubtably Denise's life would have been saved. The lady who made the third call did such a wonderful thing, calling 911, staying on the phone and directing them to where the car was headed. Many people today would have ignored the whole thing.

How horrible that the 911 dispatcher didn't put the info through to the right individual. I think that 911 is a separate operation from the police, because they take all sorts of emergency calls..fire, ambulance..etc. So whom ever is in charge of 911 in that area is the person that needs to be looked at.
Just MHO

RiverRat, Thank you for posting the funeral link. It is truly heartbreaking.

I'm wondering if anyone from that area can answer my question other victims of King.
Is it possible this man woke up that morning at the age of 36 and decided to become a ruthless killer of an innocent young Mom or are there other victims of this monster we know nothing about?

???

Other than a few reports mentioning that his DNA will be tested with whatever they have in the CoralRose Fullwood murder.

Now I am wondering if Adam Tebrugge from Carlie Brucia and CoralRose cases will end up with King as a client!

I don't know. Driving to your cousin's house with your victim tied up in plain sight in your car to borrow a shovel to bury her with. Tells me he's either very stupid or, hasn't had much practice at it.

I think we already have a thread on this one.

I think it's under Missing/Located Discussions. It probably does need to be in the Crimes area too so don't feel bad.

Put her name in the Search (top of pages) and it should show the thread.

This one is still really bugging me. It's 12:30 am here in Cleveland and I need to vent. I just cannot get Denise and her kids off my mind tonight. Can someone please explain to me what kind of EVIL would make a man take a happy, young mother and in one instant drag her from the safety of her own home. Rape and assault her then drive her bound and screaming to her death right under the noses of her rescuers. Who were practically given a damn map of where she was in time to save her.

I know there's no answers for the evil that exits in this world. I had hoped typing this would help but it hasn't.

BB - I believe that we are all gathered here at WBS looking for answers as to WHY would a human being turn into nothing short of a monster, but I don't think that any of us have come up with an explanation that gives us comfort. It does help though to be a part of a community that cares enough to get involved rather than look the other way as the majority of people do.

The last report I read is about how King's attorney has asked for a Gag Order, so the news may start dwindling down. I'll go snag one more for you before that happens. :blowkiss:
