Oh. Anyone catch what I just read? n lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dr. Sievers Family Foundation at - 🤬🤬🤬.

No way they had time to set up a foundation.jmo

I just read that part. I just hope the money goes directly to the kids. Hubby doesn't need to be supported by everyone for the rest of his life. Jmo.

Agreed. She was a Dr and well-educated and I have no doubt as a Mom she must have wanted her girls to have the ability for a great education. I hope an official trust for that is set up at least.

It is quite a process. Did they have one before?

Agree. Moms would have done anything for her girls. And of course she would want them taken care of for life. But that doesn't mean hubby.

It's just very hinky that A million dollars was being asked for. It sounds embarrassing in a way as well. Dr supposedly no life insurance. The family can use a million to be situated during this ordeal. Idk. Jmo

Sorry but I must have missed it. What kind of work does the husband do? Is he also a doctor?

Snip from the obit:" Dr. Sievers believed strongly in supporting local charities and giving back to her community. In 2008, she became directly involved with Our Mother's Home of Southwest Florida and teacher to teen mothers and their babies. She also worked with Wings of Shelter International in SW Florida and The Good Shepherds Ministry of Ft. Myers."

I would have thought that in lieu of flowers the family would have suggested that contributions could be made to one of the above charities. MOO

Is the Go Fund Me acct still out there? Can't find it anymore.

ETA: Found it under Dr. Teresa Family Foundation

I still find the million dollar goal baffling (and in very poor taste). Is this the new process: instead of life insurance - have everyone contribute money to support the family for a very long time? Bizarre.

Everything I've read about her - she seems like a very wonderful person, so this Go Fund Me just doesn't sit well with me for some reason.

2nd ETA - the HUSBAND created the account???? The introduction is by her colleague, bur Mark is listed as the creator. Oy vey.

Is it even possible to obtain business loans without proof of life insurance?

I don't think so. I know when my husband opened his business, we had the life insurance company out to our house taking blood and other stuff. I assume the bank was the beneficiary.

IIRC the guy who lost his wife after she gave birth to quads only asked for 200k to stay home for a year and hire help.

Agree. Not knowing much about "family foundations" is there any way it would disperse monies to these charities, or is there an accounting of where the contributions would actually go? I do believe, however, when one formally establishes a Foundation it has a direct account already set up through a bank. Actually I have only seen this type online for those in dire need of funds due to an emergency such as funeral expenses, loss due to fire, etc. and for much smaller amounts. It is definitely confusing.

Dad worked for mom but he was considered office manager. But still decided to stay on vacation while moms had to be back in the office. He probably had access to all finances since he supposedly managed things.

Btw. The obituary doesn't state when they met and i don't know if they were in Connecticut to see her family only. If he stayed visiting her family while moms headed back then something is off. Jmo.

I wonder if they felt like why is he still out here with us when sis had to head back.

Maybe if you have good home equity. Or maybe it depends on loan size and business plan.

Good credit and some decent assets can get a business loan of a nice size. But maybe things have changed after the housing bust. Maybe banks that give business loans want life insurance.

But me and my wife have a different kind of insurance for our home loan. It's basically covers the loan if something happens to us. But that's it. So maybe a biz loan has the same insurance criteria.

Now some debts can carry over to joint spouse. But usually they lien what they can and move on. So if hubby has the house in his name and the loan is in her name. Than they can't lien the house. Jmo

An online account atgo fund me.com/y8vg37q*was opened Monday by Sievers' colleague Lenka Spiska, a licensed massage therapist and intuitologist.

What if they are both actually.........

Just thinking out loud. I could be way off.

We are as solid financially as one can be with plenty of credit, net worth and nearly 100% equity in the house and we still have to add insurance policies as the bank dictates. We have to add another policy soon, in fact.

I'm thinking that many/some of the services provided are not covered by insurance.

For now at least, it is still okay to pay a licensed MD cash for professional services rendered. Until this administration perhaps decides that is another freedom we do not need to worry our pretty little heads about.
