FL FL - Eva Ridall, 15, Bradenton, 1 May 1977

  • #61
The odd thing is that there is an extensive family tree on Ancestry, owned by a member of the Ridall family (not sure which one but the owner is lridall4) which lists Eva Marie as having married Dennis Carroll Mattingly who died in 1986. This would explain the Mattingly suggestion but the claim is not backed by marriage records or other reliable sources. I am not sure what to make of it.
That is very strange especially since she went missing in 1977 at the age of 15. We haven't seen anything listed that she was married.

Neither have I, and I have checked the marriage records on Ancestry (knowing that they are incomplete). It is the ownership by a family member which makes it so odd.

Is there an updated exclusion list? I’m thinking this Jane Doe could be her despite the doe being 1” taller. Long brown hair with blonde strands in it. It’s possible she tried to dye her hair back to brown since she went missing with blonde. Found on the West coast in WA, she was supposedly heading to California.

UP5706 is not listed as an exclusion.

I’m thinking this is the Dennis Mattingly who died in 1986. From Cincinnati Ohio 16th Dec 1986.

The lady Patrica remarried in 1990, now deceased, she did have a son with him though.

Also strange in an Ancestry for Dennis Mattingly there is also a Victoria (under spouse, with two children private). Victoria was one of Eva alias.
There is no records of a marriage, could have lived together though?

Wow ! Nice sleuthing Starr !
I looked lightly at Ancestry and when I did it said he had died in Ohio ? Could be an error, but your find really makes me wonder.
If Dennis was 34y in 1986 that would mean he was born in 1952. That would make him 25y at the time of Eva’s disappearance. It is possible she went up to Ohio to be with him and they took off together. Because Dennis was a 25y adult, police most likely wouldn’t pursue a missing persons case if they think he just “up and moved” on his own accord since he is an adult after all.
Possible he didn’t tell his family about Eva but kept in contact with his family as to not raise alarm bells. I’m curious as to if, when, and where did Dennis move, if at all, during 1977 or after. Could be a clue if he did move states in 1977, probably took Eva with him so they could “start a new life”.

*Edit : I’m also curious what the interaction Eva had with her cousin in Ohio was. Did her cousin give her any money or clothes ? Just a place to crash?

What did they talk about ?

Dennis Mattingly lived all his life in Ohio as far as I can tell. While I’m on a roll I found a few more articles about him. *If * there is a connection to him it doesn’t bode well for her.

Serving Time
To the Editor of The News: I am presently serving time in pris- on for a minor offense and I was hop- ing someone might help me with a small problem. I receive very little mail from friends or family and I was thinking someone might correspond with me. Maybe someone would take
the time to write me a short letter. I'm 25 years old and my interests are music, stamp collecting, nature, trav- eling and people. I would enjoy hear- ing from anyone who is willing to take a few minutes of their time and invest
the price of a postage stamp.

Do we know when he started serving his sentence ? This is not looking good for Eva if this is him.
