Daughter of missing Hernando County woman always suspected stepfather in 34-year-old cold case

Deep down inside, Kelly Carpenter always knew her stepfather was responsible for her mother's disappearance more than three decades ago.

"I always thought he had done something to my mom, yes," she said Monday.

If convicted, Mackey will either face the death penalty or spend the rest of his life in prison.

"I feel grateful that he's being held accountable," Carpenter said.

I just saw this one today, may be the same article, but wanted to post it anyway. So happy that this man is in jail and the family can get some justice.

So Meryl did go to jail, he never told where Evelyn was buried, just recently he died in jail. It was about a month ago I think. I just never thought to post here because he was convicted. He only got about 5 years I think but it was enough that he spent his last few years behind bars. I hope there is a hell for his after life so he gets what he deserves. I only wish he would have let her daughter know where she is, so she could bring her home.
