But what does it matter? A person could walk up to baggage claim with a loaded gun. Or walk into a mall. Or the large crowd of people waiting to go through security at Disneyland. Or wherever.

I don't see that being able to put a gun into a checked bag really makes a difference. They can't access it on the plane. Or past the security gates.

Forgive me, I'm from the UK, where the mere thought of being allowed to roam around freely with a weapon just boggles my mind. I'll never understand it, nor do I want to if I'm honest

A witness told MSNBC that the gunman was a "slender man' who was wearing a Star Wars T-shirt.

The gunman, who appeared to be in his 20s, did not speak before or during the attack, John Schlicher said.

What a 🤬🤬🤬. He walked around imperiously shooting through luggage to get at poor, scared, innocent people who were trying to save their lives.

I so want someone to mock and humiliate bastards like this who stay alive. Ask them what kind of cowardly, weak, little person they are to shoot innocent people. Talk about how they have tarnished their family's name
forever and will be remembered as a gutless, infantile coward. A worthless human being who accomplished nothing in life and should never have been born because they are a waste of air.

I think it's safe to say ANYONE who shoots up an airport has mental health issues. There is no excuse for his actions. Just my opinion, though.

Home-grown violent extremist influenced by ISIS or other extremist groups, possibly online.

Per the sheriff via local news.

lots of fake news out there about this story already, be careful what you repeat.

tho it does seem to be confirmed from eyewitnesses now that he stopped firing, dropped the gun, and lay down spread eagle.

so i guess he wasnt suicidal, for whatever that is worth...

CBS reporting Santiago previously walked into the FBI in Alaska saying he is being forced to watch ISIS videos. The FBI took him to a mental health facility. (sorry, I missed when he did this.)

Hmmmm, and someone with mental health problems and possibly hearing voices and paranoid is probably ripe for the picking...

Do you have a direct link to this?

He's an Iraq war vet.

Local news - so take it for what it's worth at this point.

Where is he getting this?

No idea. But that's a loaded statement if he's just speculating.

The FBI is apparently now the lead agency rather than his department.
