This letter is mind blowing, really.
Hmmm… I thought Decoste was representing her still now?Looks like Magbanua has filed to remove her public defender and replace with her own counsel for her appeal. Lawyers in the group, please review to ensure what I'm saying is correct. Thank you.

Not a lawyer but my interpretation is that the DCA has granted the previous motion from her appointed appellate attorney to withdraw due to a conflict of interest, and then authorizes the circuit court to appoint her a new appellate attorney. I don't think there is much here.Looks like Magbanua has filed to remove her public defender and replace with her own counsel for her appeal. I agree. Saw this also happen with two of the defendants in the Frostproof murders at the trial level. Not a lawyer but my interpretation is that the DCA has granted the previous motion from her appointed appellate attorney to withdraw due to a conflict of interest, and then authorizes the circuit court to appoint her a new appellate attorney. She's copied because Attorney Tara Kawass was referenced in KM's 11/28/22 Amended Motion:Why, then, is Tara K. served with this document if she has already recused from Katie's defense?
Thank you - I should have read the previous docs before posting!I agree. Saw this also happen with two of the defendants in the Frostproof murders at the trial level.
From KM's Oct 18, 2022 MOTION TO WITHDRAW FROM APPEAL AND FOR APPOINTMENT OF SEPARATE COUNSEL:
[..]
2. This Office was appointed to represent Ms. Magbanua on appeal on October 13, 2022, nunc pro tunc to July 29, 2022. The record on appeal has not yet been e-filed. There is a pending order to show cause issued to trial counsel dated October 10, 2022.
3. This office cannot represent Ms. Magbanua on direct appeal without a conflict of interest. The nature of the conflict is personal conflict because the victim in this case was a Florida State University Law school professor.
4. This Office previously withdrew at the trial level for a co-defendant, who testified as a State witness, after consulting with The Florida Bar.
The Florida Bar informed this Office that it could not ethically represent any of the defendants in this case. Subsequently, this Office moved to withdraw from another co-defendant’s direct appeal in December 2019 in case no. 1D19-4005. This Court granted the motion to withdraw.
I feel like the distinction is only really meaningful to those who have experienced both jail and prison.Did anyone else find Daniel Rashbaum's comment yesterday "the prison has been terrific!" right in front of Charlie a little....bizarre?
I bet it's not been so terrific for Charlie! I mean helpful, cooperative, even "good to deal with."
But "terrific?"
It did kind of make me laugh though.
I think the effusiveness of "terrific" was what was the most bizarre. Wonder how Charlie felt sitting there hearing his prison/jail experience being described as "terrific". #nolobsterforyouI feel like the distinction is only really meaningful to those who have experienced both jail and prison.

They do say sociopaths transition surprisingly easy to the prison system.I wouldn't be surprised to learn that CA uses "terrific" with his attorney.
In one of the YT blogs that lists CA's jailhouse call logs, there was also a report written on 11/17/22 (the date he received the MP3 player) by a jail guard that asked how he was doing physically and mentally pre-holiday season where CA actually used "fine" and "great" to describe himself.
