I just can't imagine how difficult it must be for prosecutors to sit across a table from DA for hours on end. I feel as if I'm viewing a geriatric version of "Scared Straight!" From the "icy Donna stare" I still get a defiant vibe. Sympathy for her, IMO....no way.
Any idea what she might be thinking right now?

My guess is either Donna Adelson is not thinking, or she is thinking about some bad ideas such as murdering the father of her grandchildren, as alleged!

To guess what people are thinking about, you have to be able to relate to them or you have to own some experience similar to theirs. Not many persons could relate to a woman equipped with Donna Adelson’s personality combined with her ugly protruding lower jaw. Even fewer persons would share her alleged experience as the “domestic coordinator” of conspiracy, solicitation, and commitment to murder.

I recall defense wanted to eliminate unnecessary mentions of the Adelson wealth. So maybe the strategy is to make her look less wealthy?
You may be right about the defense trying to downplay her wealth, but don’t know how they will achieve that. Just that one scheme of maybe paying Dan a million dollars to let Wendi move to south Florida alone to everyday people trying to get by will show different (and you know that will be coming in), then add all the other stuff.

End of day Recap:

At the end of day 1 of jury selection, 102 jurors were screened for the Donna Adelson trial, 64 of those qualified for further questioning. That will take place on Thursday, when these jurors have been told to return.

On Wednesday, 100 more potential jurors will be screened. Judge Everett's goal is to get to 100 to 110 jurors by Thursday. We will continue to bring you coverage of day 2 of jury selection Wednesday from 8:30am.

I don't really know. Apparently she has been replying to letters sent to her saying she is very confident of being found not guilty, which I find utterly bizarre. HA's behaviour, such as his cocky smirk and waving to the cameras, also is suggestive of his confidence of a not guilty verdict.

Can people really be that delusional? Is her lawyer encouraging that confidence? I think deep down she knows she screwed, it's some surface level false bravado which is going to make that guilty verdict all the more harder to swallow. WA will be the same, smirking and laughing on trial right up until she's found guilty.

Donna Adelson’s trial for the murder of Dan Markel starts today August 19th, 2025
  • It appears the objective of the extra table request is to place Donna Adelson facing the Jurors such that she could entertain them with “the performance of her life”
  • We will get a lot of Donna Adelson’s facial expressions throughout the trial, but at the end it might backfire for her
  • While waiting for more snapshots, here are the Adelson main characters as of recently:
The Broad Smiling Sunshine
The Facetious Director
The Crying Domestic Coordinator, and
The Blacked Eye Maestro

She is faking it. The sad expressions are pathetic. She is trying to look like a sweet little old lady who can’t possibly be a killer. She is also appealing to WA for sympathy and support.

8/19/25 Tuesday, Jury Selection Day 1: Nearly 300 prospective jurors will be called. 50 will be screened in morning & afternoon. Some 50 jurors are seated in the court room for morning session. A few have been excused because they’re full-time caregivers or have other exceptions. The potential jurors went through initial questioning & then will be brought back for more questioning by the attorneys & judge one-on-one. Those left will remain in a ‘pool’ of possible jurors & they’ll pick the final 12-person jury from that. Circuit Judge Stephen Everett says jury selection is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, 8/21/25, with trial proper to begin on Friday, 8/22/25. Jurors wait their turn for one-on-one questioning with Judge Stephen Everett & attorneys in a private room. More than 25 jurors advanced from the first 50 in morning session. Another 50 brought in for afternoon session. At the end of day 1 of jury selection, 102 jurors were screened for the Adelson trial, 64 of those qualified for further questioning. That will take place on Thursday, when these jurors have been told to return. [see post #654, page 33, thread #26 for link to more of Day 1 Jury Selection].
Jury selection continues on Wednesday, 8/20/25.

Nugget! Judge Everett says the trial proper is expected to start on Thursday.

That would mean final jury selection and potentially opening statements tomorrow.

……
Court begins with the State asking to introduce evidence that Wendi Adelson, Donna Adelson’s daughter, changed the names of her children from Markel to Adelson.

The judge said he would take the matter under advisement and review during lunch.

I am concerned about any shenanigans that might be up their sleeves. Whatever became of the allegations that attorneys gave their devices for her to use undetected just for one? Will we hear about allegations of HA and or DA wanting to neutralize in some way an informant's mom, their own son and KM? Seems that the attorneys and client are quite well matched.

Heard some of the pundits talking about the possible Thurs openings last night. I had thought the defense atty asked for a full day after jury selection, but I guess that was not granted?

CA trial started away, I would not expect this one to be any different.

Georgia brought up Wendi having the boys' names changed to Adelson and how DA is involved in that too per some new email. Can't wait to see what DA had to say about the Markel name, it won't be anything nice, that's for sure.

I get the impression that this is a woman who has always been in control of events, circumstances and other people - including her own children - and is indignant that the control has been taken away from her. She doesn't think she should be there right now - in her mind, she is Donna Adelson the Miami socialite and matriarch of the wealthy Adelson clan, and not a common criminal. There is barely-suppressed rage and contempt in her face.

I think it's arrogance, which makes DA and WA both over-confident.

Assistant State Attorney Georgia Cappleman is asking Judge Stephen Everett about her motion to allow into evidence communication between Donna Adelson and her daughter, Wendi Adelson, about changing her two sons' last name from Markel to Adelson.

Judge Everett said he expects to reach a pool of 100 potential jurors today ahead of group jury selection, which will start at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Donna Adelson and her lawyers, Josh Zelman and Jackie Fulford of Tallahassee, wait for the first group of potential jurors to come up to Courtroom 3G.

Now, Judge Everett is admonishing potential jurors not to talk about their service and to avoid news accounts about the case until they have been excused.

Judge Everett says he expects Donna Adelson's trial to start Thursday afternoon, following group jury selection that starts at 11 a.m. that day.

Judge Everett said the pool of prospective jurors has been narrowed to 110 people, who will report Thursday for a final round of group jury selection.

Everett instructed lawyers on both sides to be back in court by 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Group jury selection starts at 11 a.m.

Jury selection is done for the day in Donna Adelson's murder trial, though court is still in session. Circuit Judge Stephen Everett is discussing group jury selection set for tomorrow. Opening statements are expected tomorrow afternoon.
