FL - FSU Law Professor Dan Markel Murdered by Hitmen-Donna Adelson Upcoming Trial - *5 Guilty* #28

How did Det. Isom know so quickly from where to fetch Wendi Adelson the day of the murder?

In the US, the physical location of a working (or enrolled at a university) adult would be known within about a couple of hours at most, under normal circumstance when the person is not hiding. One of the multiple tools for so doing is “phone pinging”.

Major Police Departments have their own pinging devices from about 2005 on-ward, which allow them to by-pass the need for pinging help request from cellular service providers. It takes at most 12 pings to find the location of any phone.

In actuality, it takes much less than 12 pings. For example, if with 1 single ping of a MD’s phone you find the closest tower nearby a hospital, you know that she is at work. If after 3 pings you find someone’s car at a strip mall by a restaurant, you infer “Voila! She is eating.”

STS says they will be interviewing a juror on Wednesday, not the foreperson.

Do you have a link that shows that major police departments -- or the Tallahassee police department -- have the physical and legal ability to privately ping a phone? My understanding is that law enforcement generally needs a warrant to access a phone's current location. An exception would be exigent circumstances -- an immediate threat to life or safety, or a risk of evidence being destroyed -- which I don't think was applicable to Wendi's situation.

I think Wendi may have texted Dan those horrible messages (nice was fun while it lasted, and no you can't take the boys swimming, even though it was his parenting time) on the morning of the shooting as a plan to try to get him to respond unkindly to her, to show he was riled up and could have upset someone on the road, and they followed him and pulled a gun on him, so not a planned hit.

Magbanua and Rivera have both been transferred back…… are they trying to indict Wendi?

Don't believe STS, they spread false information. Irresponsible if you ask me. KM is not coming back to Leon County. She never was in LCJ during the trial. All the hoopla originated from a simple notification that the Leon County Sherriff's Department picked up KM at the Wakulla County jail. They then drove her to Ocala.

LR has never left LCJ since the trial. He was not "bought back".

I know everyone wants a Grand Jury to convene but this is a dead-end.

NEW: Despite speculation online, Katherine Magbanua and Luis Rivera are headed back to their respective prisons.

A sheriff's office spokesperson confirmed Magbanua was already transported, and Rivera should be soon.

Some thought they might be testifying before a grand jury.

WA's call to DA from the police station (and my interpretation):

W: Hi Mom, how's it going? (Have you heard about Danny yet?)

W: I need you to sit down, I am fine, the boys are fine...um, Danny has been shot (the hit men finally did it) umm and I don't think he's gonna make it (well, there could be a snag, they did it, but maybe didn't fully succeed at doing it).

W: I found this out at 1:00 or 2:00 today (no fore knowledge of any hitman plan here!).

W: I'm at the police station and I'm trying to help them figure out who may have done this (you all can count on me, I'm trying to misdirect them, only said you guys hated him the most and Charlie told jokes about hiring a hitman as a divorce present, but don't worry, the cops don't suspect a thing!).

W: I really need you to come and be here with me (we have to look all united and deeply saddened by Danny's eventually passing, and before you know it, me and the boys will be in sunny south Florida with you, yay!).

I really hope her arrest comes soon.

Could be. I just know I was scoffing at the noise from down south throwing shade on Dan Markel from July 2014 until the arrests in 2016. It really kinda pissed me off knowing the most likely scenario that we now know is true. Too much preemptive protesting.
2016 Tallahassee Democratic article- Chief of Police Michael De Leo. You can find the article - he wanted to arrest the whole family in 2016 along with the others who were arrested in 2016.

I was just coming here to post this.

STS posted something saying that Magbanua has been transferred back to the Leon County Jail and a real journalist had to come out with the facts. STS has fully stepped into their speculation and fake news era. Without this case, STS knows their views are going to dwindle fast. How many "Will Wendi be arrested" slop content will we get from STS in the next several weeks, I wonder?

Jack Campbell in that clip is saying his prosecutors are exahusted to the point that he's concerned for their well-being. Well, sir, it was y'alls decision to try these cases one by one. Had you tried the Adelsons all at once, it would require less effort/resources. Lets not forget the Markels have been traveling back and forth from Canada for all these trials. I'm sure they're exhausted by having to dredge up this horrific event in their lives every 2-3 years let alone the exhaustion and expense of travel. Just sayin'

Edited to add: Also, I'm sorry but didn't Georgia just tell us there are other cases besdies this one? Isn't that what these prosecutors do? Go to trial? If they are so exhausted after trying an 8 day case then how can they possibly function trying all these other criminal cases???

Blame the delay on Willie Meggs who was Georgia's boss. Presumably he feared losing in court more than he wanted justice for Dan.

After listening to Jack Campbell's comment about how worried he is that his prosecutors are going to be sick from trying these cases, *I* am feeling sickened, quite frankly. I have never been all that impressed with the lead prosecutor in this case. Her affect and low energy has never been more evident than in her 2 hour closing argument at Donna's trial. It was a long, tedious summary that she read to the jury for 2 hours. It came across as lazy and as if she was just going through the motions.

Her performance at every one of these trials in my opinion leaves a lot to be desired. I find her rushed and impatient with many aspects of the proceedings. She leads witnesses and gets testy when told not to by the judge, she speaks over objections/rulings, she gets irritated at low stakes events and seems non-plussed at the high stakes events etc. Her cross of Charlie was pretty tepid as well. I feel that she didn't put Charlie in his place enough. She answered his questions and got defensive at times. A curt, one-time "I ask the questions not you" was all that was needed to remind him that he's not the maestro anymore. I think the cool, calm, and collected demeanor is nothing more than haughtiness.

And now listening to Jack Campbell and watching his affect, it's like this is about the prosecutors and the DA's office. No, sir! This is about a man's reprehensible murder and seeking justice for him and his family. If your prosecutors are going to be sick from trying one of the most notorious murder cases in recent Tally history, then you need better prosecutors.

Huh? I thought they were absolutely great. Absolutely great. They had home runs in record time, what more can you ask?

That's because of the stellar investigation done by TPD, FBI (Agent Pat Sanford), and other LE agencies. The level of detail and effort they put into this investigation was excellent and, I believe, they are the ones that need to be credited for these quick convictions.

I think prosecutors did a good job of organizing the sequence of the testimony, and the opening was good in laying things out for the jury. But in my opinion the pacing in the questioning of the witnesses , cross examination (except for the cross exam of Katie in her 2nd trial - that was very good!), and the closing argument by the lead prosecutor (esp in Donna's trial, Charlie's was better) is not impressive. Just my personal opinion but I feel like the lead prosecutor gets so much undeserved credit and adulation. And I just don't see it.

In fairness, this was an unlosable case – so the praise Cappleman and team received was nice, but putting it in perspective, they were essentially in a can’t lose situation as far as outcome. They would have really had to screw up to for Donna to have been acquitted by the jury. I’m not saying I dislike Cappleman or she is a ’bad’ prosecutor, but objectively, I agree with some of the critiques of Cappleman. My personal observation after seeing her in action for several trials is that she asks way too many leading questions and often responses with a very sarcastic tone. Sarcasm can sometimes be used to drive a point home, but to use it with so much frequency can be viewed as unprofessional and is not good courtroom mannerism. If she worked a case (e.g. the Karen Reed case) where the defendant wasn’t viewed and portrayed as an evil villain by the majority of the public, her courtroom demeanor might not go over too well. I think there is a lot she can work on. Wendi will be her real test :)

I hope the state moves quickly on WA and not wait another 2 yrs.
With no statute of limitations on murder…… in that sense there isn’t really a rush. And the longer others sit, and time passes, who knows what can surface and dynamics can change. That is aside from any evidence that the state, investigators, and the prosecution already has that others don’t know about.

And some might prefer one good crack at it. As my late father always said (and he was a long time civil structural engineer at NASA): “there is never time to do the job right, but there is always time to do the job over”.

But in this case, there is no do over. They get one crack at it. I’d rather they take the time they need. Let others wonder their next move. No rush IMO. IANAL. MOO

I think her planning and plotting predates that text you referenced…. I believe Wendi became a contortionist as a young teen because she was planning on using those skills to twist and bend herself out of this mess :)

Well, that puts those rumors to rest.

In August 2016, attorneys Lauro (for Wendi), Markus, Moss & Weinstein (for Charles), Rashbaum (for Donna), and Jeffrey Neiman (for Harvey) wrote in their collective letter:

To be clear, none of the Adelsons – Wendi, her brother Charlie, or their parents Donna and Harvey – had anything to do with Dan’s murder.”

Fast forward September 2025, the talent, dedication, hard work and skills of the wonderful lead prosecutors Georgia Cappleman and Sarah Dugan, supported by their backstage team of lawyers, investigators, and experts, have secured the conviction of 4 criminals. The dolts will have their oafish comments but the tangible big results remain. With evidences dependent on circumstances only, the smart and effective lead prosecutors Georgia Cappleman and Sarah Dugan have put 3 murders behind bar with LWOP. And the likely 4th LWOP sentence for Donna Adelson is on the way.

Now that Charles and Donna are both convicted, the evidence recorded in 4 trials’ transcripts “show clearly that all of the Adelsons – Wendi, her brother Charlie, and their parents Donna and Harvey – do have a lot to do with Dan’s murder.”

The question is then “who is next in line?”

If politician and State Attorney Jack Campbell decides to present 2 PCAs to the secret Grand Jury, would the jurors return 0 or 1 or 2 indictments? If the jurors were to return 1 indictment only, which one Wendi or Harvey would please the crowd?

If politician and State Attorney Jack Campbell decides to take it prudently by continuing the divide-and-conquer strategy that has worked well thus far, which single PCA should be presented, for Wendi or Harvey, to please the crowd?

After Donna’s sentencing, which will likely take place on Tuesday October 14th, the evidences remain as before, largely dependent on circumstances for the alleged co-conspirators.

Since Donna is Harvey’s “domestic coordinator”, it seems trivial to ask Harvey “Why were you paying a steady income for Magbanua, over 24 months after the murder, while she does nothing for your dental care business?” It is likely Harvey has started to consult with Jeffrey Neiman!

Since Wendi is Donna’s “sunshine” who has the most motives and for whom everything is done, has Donna’s trial added more evidence against Wendi? It seems obvious, the addition of Matthew Luka is triggered by the need for more hands on deck to defend Wendi!

No matter what comes next, Wendi or Harvey or both, it is hoped that next indictment(s) will come by Thursday October 16th . The sooner is the better for more Justice for Dan Markel!

Dr. G did a body language breakdown analysis of Donna during the verdict. I highly recommend seeing it. It gets more interesting at each turn, she was very angry throughout. There is reference to when she was mad at the judge, jurors and the Markel’s. It made me feel angrier to see her specific manipulation tactics.

Judge E deserves an award for his discernment, he was spot on. The domestic coordinator and manipulator actress.
