Sounds like you think they are going to arrest her..you are getting closer…:)
Theres going to be lot more evidence.
Georgia didn’t work this hard for 11 years to make a plea.
Imo Wendi is going down. And soon.
I say this due to Campbell and Ruth’s recent interview comments.

I agree. It will be in September. Wendi if you're on this forum, get a fake moustache and head to Mexico ASAP.

In the book, didn’t she say one summer she was supposed to spent 2 weeks at the Markel family lake house (with Dan and his family),and she decided instead to travel to Israel ?(or go someone where else)?
It’s been a couple of yrs since I read it but I remember that. Like she didnt want to be with the family (pre kids).
I didn’t get he feeling that she liked his family,
I don’t remember - you could certainly be right….time for me to go back and re-read her book.

@Knitpicker - I'm just waiting for GC to message us re our 2 trip theory. Will she??
Haha. I used to email her years ago. She did reply back. The case has gotten too popular and shes probably flooded with emails.
Just remember. You heard it here first :).
Yeah, I stay awake at night trying to find that “puzzle piece”.
I do notice my theory was flooded with comments afterwards pushing my “brilliant theory” way back..:)
I am sure Georgia is more than one step ahead of me.

Will be reviewing the first trial and the time WA originally said she left her house. Almost sure it was 12:00 and then changed as time went on to 12:30. Going Rogue mentioned 12:45-that is in the back of my mind but not sure where that was and at what trial. My brain isn’t as young as it used to be.

We do have to fit in the issue with SG’s 12:30 call to KM when KM said “I know” (which she denied-also interesting…maybe covering for WA?) so that kinda solves it (2 trip theory). We are allowed to speculate here right? :)

I actually put it aside to mail to someone and now I can’t find it. I’m going by memory. I remember thinking “why would she find something else to do rather than stay at the lakehouse”? Seems she purposefully avoided it. I do think they were engaged at that time. Maybe you can correct me if I’m wrong.
It could have been work related but she was still in law school I think. Maybe something like the Coca Cola events.

Interesting.

She'd lived in that area for 7 years+ and she liked a drink or two (twenty) so I'm sure she knew where her closest liquor stores were.

Nothing wrong with going to one that was further away. I do that with certain stores. But then lying about it and saying things like "I'm bad with directions...." really.. And you have an iphone with Google maps and she referred to herself as being "techsavy." How did she even navigate her way to Mozaik...
In Florida, Publix sells wine in their store itself. For hard Liquor you would have to go to their attached liquor store. If she was a wine drinker I’d think Publix would be the choice closer to her home. If she is frugal like her parents (one way ticket etc), she would definitely drive to ABC or Total Wine because Publix wine prices are probably 30% higher than a large store. (Especially if you drink your wine for dinner and go through a lot).
They do have weekly specials but their “special” price is still higher than a large wine and liquor store.

Yeah the “bad with directions”..and the “it was the first that came up” definitely is an issue.
Which is it Wendi?

She said that when choosing which store to go to it was “the first one that came up”. I’d think she is referring to a google search on her phone.
Georgia never probed with that answer. Such as “Do you mean you did a google search”.?
She seemed to know of that store.

If she did that, I doubt with her phone location it would have been the “first” and at the top.
That comment from W came up in the first trial I think. So she had her phone if thats the case.
Why would she tell Jeffrey that? And the state isn’t going to even ask him about that.

Good try :)
JMO and experience but counterpoint: if she had searched for that particular ABC store on her phone or navigated to it on maps another time, it may indeed have been the top hit.
Not that I think she’s being truthful here, but phones know where you’ve been before and will make suggestions.IMG_8094.webp

here’s an example from my personal cell phone just now. My kid took music lessons at a chain called “bach to rock” for years and they opened one much closer to us a few years back, but we have never been to that location. When I search Bach to Rock in google maps, you’ll notice the top (matching) hit is the Herndon location, despite fairfax being 3 miles closer. My phone/google maps knows that, for whatever reason, the other times i navigated to bach to rock, Herndon is the location I asked for.

In my case, there are multiple routes and this is a traffic heavy area, so we use maps often to get to same location, which I realize most ppl in less congested areas don’t need to bother with getting directions to same place repeatedly so may not have this experience, but the phone does learn!

WA First trial
GC: Is there a reason you went to that particular store (ABC)?

WA I just don’t know many liquor stores and that was the first on that popped up.

I reviewed the testimony of what time she left her house.
Georgia reminded WA that the police had her phone location and that it indicated that she left her home at 12:27. When asked if that was correct WA stated that she didn’t recall exactly when she left her home but “That sounds right”.

The WA said “ I know I had left to meet some friends for lunch so I..guess it was…I had left..I was home until that time…that sounds right”.

GC Alright, so it seems like kind of around lunchtime

WA Sure about half after noon

GC And then shortly after that at 12:29 it appears you were traveling on Centerville…when you left your residence did you go directly to lunch? (Then the discussion about the bourbon.

So perhaps I am mistaking the half past noon with noon,
I will look at the second KM trail later. Need to head out..

I still think there may be 2 trips especially after reviewing this,
Later…

I just started and already Wendi has inquired about the life insurance within days of Dan’s death AND then tried to take the GO-Fund Me funds causing much drama. That money was put into trusts for the children.
I’m gonna skip ahead to the incident we are talking about….

There is an instance, when WA and DM are in marriage counseling and they visit the Markels in Toronto. There is obvious tension. Wendi travels to NY for a Human Rights Watch interview meant to take one day. Once there, she decided to take a few extra days to visit with a friend whom she often confided in. Dan, seeing the writing on the wall, was very upset and took some private time (more than usual) at the Markel vacation home in Ontario while Phil and Ruth cared for their grandchildren. When Wendi returned to Canada, she was different, ‘had a sugary smile’ and Ruth suspected (correctly) that a separation was on the horizon.
If you think it was a different situation, let me know and I’ll keep looking.
But I must say, WA was terrible to Dan’s family after his death. And, I do not understand why she couldn’t just let her kids visit and have relationships with their grandparents, cousins etc.

As you know, I’m re-reading her book - see my other posts. As for MY assertion that WA and RM had a loving relationship, it looks like I’m wrong ! Will report more later

Yeah I get it but usually when you are from a neighborhood (such as Wendi) she has that one supermarket she must go to, plus other stores and Mozaik was nearby, so even if she didn’t frequent liquor stores you always see them. Florida is flooded with strip centers on every street-but Tallahassee in her area is limited to that one supermarket. I have a hard time believing she didn’t know about the one in that center.

Purely FYI, I just came across a similar case of murder for hire in 1992 in Vancouver, this time the victim was the mother.

Her mother-in-law was convicted, as she was directly tied to hiring and paying the killers.

However neither the ex-husband/son or father-in-law/husband of the killer were charged. Many believed they could have been involved or at least known - the son likely knew most about the victim's lifestyle, but had a perfect alibi that depended on purchasing and retaining a time-stamped ticket...the wealthy father-in-law had the successful business, however there were rumours his wife had received an inheritance that might have paid for the hit.

Anyway, I guess it was pre-social media, and of course, Vancouver is a pretty laid-back place.

One big difference though, is that custody of the child was awarded to the victim's mother. The father never saw his son until, apparently, they both showed up on opposite sides at the killer's parole hearing.

So perhaps the deep desire to punish Wendi is the perception that she 'won' the custody issue and got the benefit of the hit. I can't really see, however, how the boys could have been transferred to the custody of Dan's parents.

Ok if that is the account of when she decided to take a trip when she was invited with Dan to the lake house, then I stand corrected in my account of 2 weeks.
I did not think that was when they were married and had kids.
Hmmm…
I am probably confusing it with somewhere hearing that every summer Dan took he boys for 2 weeks to Canada for vacation.
I am still looking for my copy of the book and it’s frustrating me.

It could also have been in Stephen Epsteins book and not Ruth’s.
In fact. Maybe thats where I read it.
That book took e months to finish and I wouldnt know where to look for that info.

Yes her punishment of Ruth especially the weekend of the murder is hard to imagine -if she wasn’t guilty.
