FL - FSU Law Professor Dan Markel Murdered by Hitmen-Donna Adelson Upcoming Trial - *5 Guilty* #28

  • #1,561
Charlie responds that he was charged for conspiring with his sister and his mother. And Cappelman brings out the charging documents and refreshes his memory that actually he's charged with conspiring with Katie Magbanua.

Go to the 58:20 minute mark:

Interesting. Did CA believe he was charged with conspiring with DA and WA because that's what happened?

While we're on the subject of things Cappelman has said, I have yet to see a quote from her indicating that Wendi conspired with Charlie and Donna in the planning of this murder. In fact, let me just do a quick throwback here, during Cappelman's cross examination of Charlie, she brings up the fact that his defense lawyer talked about how the state thinks he conspired with Wendi to commit this murder, and she asks Charlie whether he has read his charging documents and knows the charges against him. Charlie responds that he was charged for conspiring with his sister and his mother. And Cappelman brings out the charging documents and refreshes his memory that actually he's charged with conspiring with Katie Magbanua.

You can easily deduce from Cappleman’s statement that it implies the state believes Wendi wasn’t involved – though I don’t think that’s what Cappleman meant, but it can certainly be interpreted that way. Regardless, no ‘public’ evidence provides the state with what they need to win a conspiracy-to-commit-murder case against Wendi. To meet the burden of proof, they must establish beyond a reasonable doubt that Wendi either committed an act in furtherance of the crime or willingly entered into a conspiratorial agreement with someone involved in the plot to murder Dan. It’s not about public opinion, it’s about what the state can prove. Many believe Wendi was involved, and she may have been, but unless someone can explain how the state proves either of those two elements I mentioned, the prospects for Wendi’s arrest and conviction currently do not appear to be as great as many are predicting.

I’ve said many times that public perception of Wendi’s arrest prospects changes like the seasons. Leading up to and immediately following Donna’s trial, optimism was at an all-time high, but the tenor in the air seems to be slowly fading away….. We need good old Joel from STS to stir something up to reignite the public’s optimism.

Yup based on what we know, there isn't anything to show she conspired with CA and DA.

Well, he didn’t mention Katie (on his own) so does that mean he didn’t conspire with Katie? But, sure, his answer can be interpreted as a Freudian slip.

I just thought it was curious that Cappelman went out of her way to address the fact that his attorney had said, ‘the state thinks Charlie conspired with Wendi.’ I agree @Going Rogue that it doesn’t prove that Cappelman thinks Wendi didn’t conspire with her family. But that exchange stood out to me when it happened live.

Stay tuned. 😄

How was she so sure that “professionals” killed Dan? As per her writing class podcast. Even before the first arrest.
Relates to the hitman joke for sure.

You mean her statement to JL and SY?

No, in her Miami writing class, months after the murder when she is talking about her “Latex” husband, she mentions he got killed by professionals aka hitmen. How did she know that?

And also , she admitted she doesn’t talk to Robert anymore at Katies second trial when asked.
Why not? (I know why).
Why would she not talk to Robert, unless she was part of the conspiracy?

Wait what??

I've never heard that. SG was arrested April 2016 and even when he was arrested it was still not known that he had been hired.

I'm surprised GC never mentioned that in her cross of WA. It seems kinda huge to me.

You haven't heard the writing Class Podcast part 1 and 2?
Exactly. She also said she had a birthday gift for her father’s 70th and it was a trip to Machu Pitchu (sp).
When asked on the stand by GC if she got her dad a Bday gift, she said she didn't remember.
What is interesting about the “gift” is that I believe it was to be in August bc she had to enroll the kids in school, right (August in Florida) There wasn’t a lot of time to take that trip…and she was to speak at FSU during the summer right? For the freshmen?
So I’ve always wondered if the state looked into whether any tickets/hotel accommodations were made for that trip.
GC did ask about a family cruise to Robert I believe.
The same with the trip to Cali she made twice and cancelled with Jeff.
Did she ever purchase those tickets?

I knew about the "latex" comment, but didn't know she mentioned it was professional hitmen. Even LE didn't know it was professional hitmen until LR confessed.

She didn’t say “Hitmen”. She said he was killed by professionals. Which is the same.
Right. It was the same with Isom when she kept saying someone must have done this FOR HER, as if she knew he was killed bc of her. Rather than any other random person.

Wow that's crazy. I'd love for her to be asked about that on the stand.

Not something Georgia needed for Katie, Charlie or Donnas trial but DEFINITELY needs for Wendi’s.
For someone who avoided Isom and never called to see how the investigation was going, she sure knew “who” did it.
She’s SMAHT for sure.
Darn now I have to see if it was “a professional” or “professionals”
Because if it was plural, shes even SMAHTER!

Title: “Wendi tells the story of her ex husbands murder” “Writing class Radio” Youtube channel

@11:05 “It feels sacrilegious these days to even suggest something less than heroic about my latex husband because he was murdered. He died violently and young and likely at the hands of a professional killer. And the media had a field day in response”.

Oh, this is also where she lies that she is taking her brain cancer surviving father to Machu Pichu in August as well as doing a commencement speech at FSU. He never had brain cancer.

My blood ran cold when I heard Wendi reading her essay and she said it was a hitman/ professional hit. This was recorded well before any arrests.

Yes, that was in the interval when they believed they had safely gotten away with it. They underestimated TPD.

I would love to hear her explain her Dad's brain cancer on the stand.
