I just took a survey of several friends, and they all believe that the POI is male, and wearing some kind of hat or helmet. What's our consensus on this?

I think male and bike helmet which leads me to believe the perp did own a bicycle. JMO.

There was a latent print found in or on the car and a miniscule amount of dna that wasn't enough to test at the time.....Lt. Kenda says that there is ALWAYS something left by the perpetrator at a crime scene...

Totally OT, but I love me some Kenda!

I haven't watched the video in ages. However, I always thought it was for sure a male. I also think he might be a painter due to his clothing.

Please take a look back a few pages at the surveillance camera images of normal and UV unfiltered during day images. The light clothing is from UV (nighttime surveillance) unblocked during daytime. The Orlando police saw their own uniforms show up light when they tested the camera. Police uniforms are just as light as painter clothes, need to look at the clothes and what gear is on the POI.

Also for anyone reading, The images I worked with are from a surveillance camera aimed at the gate. The video is from a surveillance camera aimed at the entrance from Texas. I have not analyzed the video and actually culdn't see anything in it because it was so dark when I clicked on links to look at it back in the day. I leave analysis and even enhancement of the video to others such as NASA as mentioned.

I wonder if Jennifer's place of work used a courier service? Well, well, well, I binged and came up with:

Couriers at our company often ride bicycles or motorcycles in order to achieve the shortest turnaround times from pickup to delivery. Indeed, the bicycle messenger, whizzing through crowded traffic at unbelievable speeds with a satchel over one shoulder, has become a symbol of the youthful daredevilry of Florida city's life.

When detectives are 'stuck' during an investigation they go back to the beginning.

When Jennifer first went missing the consensus was it happening in the morning. She had laid out a couple of outfits on her bed to choose what to wear to work.
Her shower still had water droplets in the afternoon and her towel was damp.

A second scenario developed where she went out the previous night after the phone call with Rob Allen concluded at 9:57 pm.
Apparently the cell phones were powered off at 10:40 pm.

It can't be both. Which scenario is the correct one?

I thought this may be of interest. The first day I posted a basic blowup of the POI, May 28, 2007, I posted:

"I believe it is a woman with her hair tied up in a bun. Take a look at the back of the head. You can see the hair tufts."

Then an associate posted:

"...in the blown-up photo, it looks like a bicycle helmet on the person's head."

Then I posted:

"I still think it distinctly looks like a woman's hair pulled up in a bun, but some others on websleuths think that it is a cyclist and that the shoes are biking shoes."

Then another associate:

"Maybe a bike messenger?"

Then I posted, now two days later:

"Ok, I can see clearly now. You're right. I posted a closer shot of the head and the profile is clearly that of a cycling helmet.

That and the shoes which would now be cycling shoes make this a cyclist. Messenger? Good question.

And guess what. Jennifer needed to send a cell phone overnight that day. Is there a messenger service connection here? "

Haven't advanced much from May 30, 2007. Still good questions.

One reason that some things have not been released I think is because they dropped the ball on so many things that OPD is ashamed for the public to see just how badly they screwed Jennifer's case up.....

I don't care how "burned out" these two original detectives were their negligence could have very easily cost a young, vibrant woman her life or caused her family and friends over a decade of worry and wonder about where Jennifer is....

With most jobs there are consequences for incompetence and negligence, law enforcement owed Jennifer every consideration in the collection of possible evidence.....Once the opportunity is lost for that collection of evidence, there is no going back....

I have been reading thread #10. I have to say some of the thoughts I have been having have matched up with comments in that thread specifically. Kind of spooky in a subliminal way.

I wonder if LE has explored the avenue of a messenger and the phone that needed to be shipped? Putting myself in Jen's shoes, I think I would have been aggravated about the phone being left behind and then having to be responsible for getting it back to that person. I might have told my brother it wouldn't be sent that day, but I can definitely see Jen wanting to get it out of her apartment and not wanting to be responsible for it, and in fact, going back out to ship it. Or, alternatively calling a messenger service to set up a pick up time perhaps not at her apartment itself, but elsewhere in a parking lot.

The second cell phone bugs me.

I thought you posed an excellent question, wanted to answer, but needed to sleep on it.

If you go by Jennifer's website strictly then I think scenario #1 makes the most sense. However, I do believe that information about the cell phones being shut off at 10:40 to be true (did not see this information on the website, but I trust the sleuthing and information that has been gathered after the fact).

So, just because the bed looked to be slept in, does not mean that it was Jennifer that slept in the bed. Remember Monday night would have been Jen's first night back at the condo from the cruise. Perhaps the brother slept in her bed and never made it. Likewise, just because the shower was wet and the towel was damp does not mean it was Jen that showered.

This is where it really gets creepy for me, because if that scene was staged, including the outfits laid out for work, this was someone who was obsessed with Jen. This was someone who had been in her apartment before. This was someone who had watched her closely and stalked her. Creepy, creepy, creepy! It reminds me of law student Lauren Giddings and her stalker/murderer Stephen McDaniel. Hannibal Lector and Silence of the Lambs creepy.

So, I believe the second scenario to be the correct scenario. The phone call ended at 9:57 with her BF and whatever happened to Jennifer happened just prior to the phones being powered off at 10:40 or immediately after they were powered off.

I appreciate everyone's theories regarding what happened to Jennifer. I wish we had more answers. I wish her family had her back home. It's so sad.

Don't you think that if the POI was a courier that this was a set up from the time the phone was lost until he dropped her car off at The HOTG? I don't think that this was quickly planned for 1/24/06, surely it would not have gone as smoothly as it did if it were...

I don't think it was quickly planned either. The perp just put it into action when she returned from vacation. I believe he was not happy with her leaving to go on vacation at all.

The poi parked her car some 4 hours before Police were even called . She was already gone . And the crime was completed .

And since there was no evidence at the apt ,like they said adults can come and go as they please . 99% of MP reports are resolved quickly , people off having affairs ect .. And Rob admitted they had an argument / disagreement what ever you like to call it .

I think There is possibility two people were involved in the abduction, and maybe the person in the video is a woman accomplished to a man .
Not even a single hair strand was left in the car ,
She/he wore hair net under a hemlet or a hat.
Also to throw off the investigation the shoes are few sizes biger than the actual shoe size he/she really wear.

I agree with your overall point, but was surprised to see here that they didn't call police until 4 pm. I would have thought they'd be calling police and hospitals trying to find out if anything was known about an incident involving her. Of course, as per your point, I doubt police would take any action that soon anyway.

But mentioning POI parking the car, I think it coincides with activity at her condo from staff and family and may be a factor. May be entirely coincidental, but a good possibility that it wasn't done without having seen that.

RD,

Joyce and Drew stated that people that she worked with, Jennifer's fraternity , friends, family were calling the jails and hospitals shortly after Jennifer didn't show up for work....

Do you think that it is possible that the POI was headed back to The Mosaic with her car when someone already there called him and told him not to return there due to the Kesse's and friends having arrived?

  • #1,257
OPD did not know for sure that there was no evidence in Jennifer's apartment if they never checked....

You are right that the crime was already completed when the car was parked at the HOTG but the original detectives never took a note, never processed her apartment, a polygraph was not done on Drew or Logan until three years after Jennifer disappeared, they even threatened Drew with arrest if he approached them with suggestions....

  • #1,258
I can assume the poi backed the car into that space to delay it being found , since FL dosent have front license plates however they brought the vehicle back within about a mile of her condo. Seems counter productive . And if the poi was known to her they had to know someone would be looking for her as responsible as she was . A head scratcher for sure .

I agree with all your points here. Just want to add that the 10:40 pm cell phones powered off info is stated by Jennifer's dad in a 2014 Guestbook post (which I only came to find ouy here a few weeks ago).

The clothes on the bed I have always thought could be from night before and she never made it to bed or morning after she got up. Without wanting to intrude in the personal lives of the family, they have probably considered all this but you raise some good questions that should be given some thought. Did her brother and friends pull down the covers of the bed while there? It's possible one or more of them just slept on top of the blankets, I've done that. Did they leave her bed unmade? Would she have wanted to change the sheets if it was used? Is there an indication she did change the sheets? Would she have necessarily made the bed as part of changing the sheets? The gist of these questions may not come into play if the bed was not used, but even if it wasn't, would she have likely changed the sheets to start the week off and probably not knowing whether the bed was used or not?

The family can make some determination on these questions knowing the state of the apartment when the brother left and knowing what the bed looked like when they straightened it up, but I don't think it's cut and dry that an unmade bed with clothes on it meant she got up that morning. And of course with her phone powered off I have listed the reasons why it's difficult to comprehend how those involved, authorities included, could think she was there that morning.

It's been suggested here including by you I think, and I think it's not entirely coincidental that he parked the car down the road on a North - South and East - West bus lines at that time. I don't think there was anyone calling him, just that he may have been headed back to her condo and saw the activity, time to ditch the car. Of course may have planned to ditch the car then at that spot beforehand, and never went back by Jennifer's condo. I do find it interesting that he parked the car almost precisely at noon, 11:59 am as I read it from the news reports. That appears planned to me. Possibly with just minutes to spare before a scheduled bus stop? Possibly a lunch break? Possibly going to work at 1?
