GUILTY FL - Jill Halliburton Su, 59, murdered in her Davie home, 7 Sept 2014 *retrial 2022*

What time was Jill supposed to be volunteering that day?

Was her schedule regular?

Did Jill often have baths? In the daytime? Before work?

Jill's regular volunteer day was Tuesday morning. The crime took place on the Monday prior to Jill's return to her volunteer schedule. (The day before).

Willboo, what is your theory on this case?

Well, I don't want to break any rules of the forum on my first day! This seems to be the only place that is intelligently discussing this. :shame:

I DON'T think it was a family member and am more inclined to lean towards a botched robbery but who knows. There has been hardly ANY real factual information released by the PD and I hope the reason for that is because they are (slowly) building a case against the killer and don't want to misstep. I thought for sure there would have been an arrest by now, with all the surveillance in that neighborhood and at the guarded entrance. But nothing.

But when people have just experienced a big shock, like finding a relative dead in a bloody bathtub, people may react in completely opposite ways. I would briefly freeze, possibly scream, leave the room, maybe go outside, then pull it together, calmly call 911. I would have my s*** together to answer LE questions, etc. Then when I was finally home, I would lose it, cry, shake, wail, whatever. Some people lose it immediately. Some may not lose it for days, weeks, months later. You may say something and never recall it again. JMO

I agree with you....

Is there a chance that the perp is behind bars on another charge so they are carefully building the case against them?

Apologies in advance, I am new here... is it not kosher to speculate on suspects based on the news articles? The police have not ruled any one out in this case as a suspect at this time, nor have they named any people of interest.

If my post needs to be deleted I will. I wasn't sleuthing him I was just throwing my theory and feelings on it out there.

I'll go back to reading and let you all investigate. [emoji4]

I thought 'sleuthing' was the point! Anyway, like TamE, if I have posted anything inappropriate please delete.

On OkieGranny's link the news story says her arms and legs were bound and her throat slit. It was a stranger robbing what he thought was a house with no one home. The male was arrested with 3 females. If he didn't know her he didn't have to kill her. He could have left her tied up and taken what he wanted. So senseless.

Just so senseless :(

Wow. The details are horrific. [emoji20]

Wow. Glad they got who they believe is at least a suspect, even if they're not fully certain yet he's the only one.

Very strange and very senseless. And some of the stuff that had just come out before the arrest have me even more puzzled now given the arrest.

He praised Sunrise police for arresting Resiles and the Broward County Crime Lab for processing evidence from the crime scene, adding that detectives had not yet submitted all of the evidence for testing.

"The fact that we have this individual in custody does not end our investigation," Engle said.

Detectives will also review service companies and vendors in the community. Engle called Halliburton Su's death unusual for the town but would not call it a random attack, "because it's not clear if there was any sort of personal connection. I don't want to discount anybody. We're continuing to look at everything."

Given his age, and the son being 20 also (and the daughter 24) I wonder if it'll end up that he knew one of them or even just of one of them b/c of mutual associations or something and that perhaps he knew of the wealth or something and decided to target their family?

And if he thought the house would be empty, apart from her schedule, some degree of knowledge of them could mean perhaps he thought they were still out of the country and the house was vacant at the time (meaning not just vacant during the day b/c of someone being out) Or maybe he just has really bad "luck" and missed having the house very vacant while they were gone...

Just interesting they'd not even been back in the country for 24 hours when it happened!

It just seems so bizarre to have been that cruel - and senseless like many of you said if they are entirely unknown to one another - just because he unexpectedly found her home if it was truly solely a robbery attempt initially?

Curious to see where it goes.

Also interesting is not just a record, but a record since he was 14! But given they were more robbery related, it's a little surprising he'd jump all the way to murder if he broke in and found the home occupied.
Resiles has a record of arrests by police agencies in three counties that date from when he was 14. Nine of those arrests included burglary or theft charges, state records show.

He went to the effort to rent the Mercedes, presumably to stand out less, but he wore a construction vest thing prior?! :waitasec:

The vest would make him stand out enough as it was, but it'd be even more odd to see a guy in a construction vest going in and out of a Mercedes... Strange.

In January, Boca Raton police said Resiles drove a rented Mercedes-Benz and wore a construction vest when he was seen at a home where there had been a break-in. He was arrested, and police said they found stolen items from the house in the luxury car

Interesting...and even more strange.

“
We did a calls-for-service check of this neighborhood, and outside of just common alarms, there has been no crime,” Engle said. “We haven’t even had a vehicle burglary in that neighborhood.”

Also:
Davie Police said more arrests could be made in the Su murder case.
