Authorities are looking for a 62-year-old man in Lee County waters Friday after he did not return from a fishing trip.

(...)

The last ping from his cellphone was at 7:01 p.m. just south of Cape Haze on the northwest side of Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park, the Coast Guard said in a news release.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter air crew from Clearwater and a 29-foot boat from Fort Myers Beach helped the search. At 4:46 a.m. the Jayhawk helicopter crew found his boat boat near Jug Creek.

The body was discovered near the last known location of missing Jim Winkler of North Port. Authorities have not released the identity or the condition of the body found.

His boat was recovered undamaged hours later near Jug Creek in Bokeelia on Friday morning. An unmanned boat was also towed to Burnt Store Marina on Friday, but authorities have not confirmed whether that boat belonged to Winkler.
