[bbm]

what exactly is a test chairperson?

I've never heard that title used before. But her job is to administer tests to large groups of students. Florida tests A LOT. The state requires a final exam for every course. Even PE has a final exam. And you have to add to it the SAT, ACT, FSA, various state tests, testing for ESOL students, etc. Testing coordinator is what it's usually called. They might have put the wrong title on the school's website.

Someone a few pages back noted that it's a stressful position, especially at the end of the year. And Miami Norland Senior High has had cheating scandals in the past (prior to Kameela ever working there, around 2012-2013). Something called "Adobegate" that appears to involve a couple of specific teachers who were caught. It's possible that if Kameela knew of something that didn't look right, or was a whistleblower, that someone could have had a problem with her.

Did they ever find her car? How strange if it is her in the canal, to find her body but the car is still missing?

I suspect if the car went into the canal that she may have tried to escape (IF that's her), and that's why she's been found but not her car yet. MOO

Oh gosh, this doesn't sound good with the body they have found. (And even it is not her, how horrific for whoever this woman is and her family).

I don't know, I keep thinking this reminds me of Hania Aguilar's case. If you aren't familiar, she was a younger girl who was standing outside her family's car in the morning in a trailer park when she was abducted in the vehicle and driven off. It all happened very quickly and by a man who was walking by.

Whatever happened to Kameela seemed to have happened very quickly. One second, her car is in the driveway, and then the next, it is not. It's almost like someone was just walking by but had nefarious intentions, saw her sitting there or possibly just pulling in and getting ready to get out, and jumped in the car (maybe with a weapon) and told her to drive. This is all MOO. I think I have posted a similar theory before, but I just keep coming back to this.

And there's the other scenario I wondered about: a possible carjacking. But if that's what happened, and the body that was found is Kameela, I have to ask why. Why kill someone over a car?

That link makes it sound an awful lot like they found her... without saying enough to get in trouble if it’s not her :(

School staffer, missing for weeks, believed to be found in canal

Just awful. My heart breaks for her family - she was so talented, and caring, and didn't deserve this.

I've heard several versions of rumors (possible love triangle with one of the assistant principals, a rumored pregnancy, etc.). Knowing these details, my bet is that there was some sort of entanglement with the colleague mentioned in the article. I hope they find the person responsible.

Has it been confirmed it was her. Not much media coverage. Any inside info around.

If police think it was her body, then I'd certainly tend to think this is all but certain. They likely will confirm it with her family today. It sounds like she left to meet someone, and that person did this to her. It's interesting that they were able to obtain a search warrant for the former colleague. It's also interesting that the former colleague was not in town.

The body that was found floating in a Miami Gardens canal has been confirmed as the missing mother of two who disappeared from her aunt’s driveway.

Two days after the decomposed body was found, the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office verified 41-year-old Kameela Russell as the deceased victim.

SBM

The body was found 10 blocks away from where Russell disappeared from the driveway of her aunt’s home, along the 800 block of Northwest 203rd Street.

How very sad. RIP Kameela. I hope LE finds whoever did this horrible crime that took this lovely mother and daughter away from her family.

Just based off the fact that LE was quiet after the body was discovered in the canal and they’re still pretty tight lipped about the details, I think they have an idea who did this and they’re waiting to build a case against them to get a warrant for an arrest. I don’t think this was a random act of violence.

I always try to have as much faith in LE as I can when they’re as quiet as they are in these cases. I try to think of how quickly they arrested Chris watts, Patrick frazee, more recently Riley crossman’s killer. Sometimes their silence is mistaken for lack of knowledge, when there is so much going on behind the scenes that the public is unaware of.

Well, they got a search warrant for a colleague. They must have had some evidence that was convincing enough to get a judge to issue the warrant. But I'm worried that this might have been a well-planned crime. It might go unsolved if they didn't find any evidence during their search.

Rumor has it that the guy has been in police and/or FBI custody for about a week. (Hearsay, but it seems a lot of the students and teachers have the same story). Again, it's merely the story that circulating, but they claim one of the school administrators, or former administrators who is married, was having an affair, and she was pregnant and not willing to terminate the pregnancy, so he killed her. [Which makes ZERO sense, and proves what a coward and a monster he is, if it's true].

I don't have any info to corroborate that, but it does appear that there's quite a backstory. I do not think this was a random, unplanned attack at all.

I was frustrated with LE's seeming unwillingness to release the details, as well — but then it dawned on me that this all happened around finals week, and they probably knew the effect it would have on the students, especially the seniors. She was close with a lot of the graduating class, and HS graduation was today. A few others have put forth the theory that because it (allegedly) involves school administrators, it's possible that someone on the School Board has some influence, and didn't want the story to get out.

Regardless of how the details pan out, I hope whoever did this is locked up for life. I think there's bound to be evidence - texts, phone records, emails, etc., once it's all said and done. Students are devastated. Many of them are in college now, and are saying how she was the person who pushed them academically, prompted them to start writing, was their "Mom" at school, etc. It's a devastating loss, for the community, and her family.
