Found Deceased FL - Kelly Glover, 37, visiting from Utah, Ft Lauderdale, 9 Jan 2020

hmmm...so her dad says she sleepwalked all throughout her childhood, but her husband says she never did. how can those 2 things be synonymous? can one outgrow sleepwalking? (honest question, i do not know.)

He father knew she sleepwalked(?). Perhaps it is a fact she didn't want to admit to her husband. Was embarrassed by it. Only an autopsy and the subsequent blood screening for drug/medications on board, might give a hint to what possibly happened.
As far as the Ambien theory, she could have requested some from her PCP before her trip, hoping it might keep her from sleepwalking. That, and her body still being on Mountain time Zone, 2 hours difference from Eastern Time Zone.

Her friend did not work with her. It’s strange... she went down the stairs at 2am barefoot, what floor was she staying on? That’s a huge hotel, it’s a conference center. Unless she was on the 2nd or 3rd floor, it doesn’t make sense why she wouldn’t use the elevators. Why was the door to the room left ajar? Did she have her room key? How come the husband didn’t receive a phone call from the friend until mid-day? She filed a police report in the early morning. Even if he was 2 hours behind, you still call and text her husband! At least to see if she’s contacted him. How come he didn’t call the friend or her company or the hotel if he hadn’t heard from her by 9am? If it’s that alarming and you think something is wrong, why wouldn’t you try to confirm they are ok? Possibly Ambien, but wouldn’t her husband know she was prescribed or maybe the friend gave it to her, but I think she would have said that...

My oldest never sleepwalked until he went to Officer Training Advanced boot camp. The stress and sleep deprivation triggered it.

"The onset or persistence of sleepwalking in adulthood is common, and is usually not associated with any significant underlying psychiatric or psychological problems. Common triggers for sleepwalking include sleep deprivation, sedative agents (including alcohol), febrile illnesses, and certain medications." Sleepwalking Disorder Causes & Solutions - National Sleep Foundation

Imo, a person who has a certain type of genetic makeup which does not make them sleep walk while non medicated, may have a higher chance, of this occurring, to others taking the same medication.

I took Ambien for years, and never had a problem, and I am shocked, with my luck. However, that said, my physician will no longer prescribe it, and I take a benzo for sleep, which is so much less effective imo.

It would be nice to have a simple cheap test that would give a definitive answer if one could handle Ambien without sleepwalking. Perhaps, one day, because they have an oral swab DNA test for medications that are more suitable for some than others, and which ones are not, but not too sure if this aspect of Ambien could be detected.

Good point about body chemistry - I am one of those people that Nyquil keeps me up all night. You never know from one person to the next what chemicals will do to them.

I sleepwalked as a child and (I think) I grew out of it by my teen years, but I am married to a very sound sleeper so maybe I should sleep with my FitBit on and find out! My husband slept through a pack of raccoons smashing glass jars in our garage :). It's definitely possible that one partner might not know the other is up walking around, and also, if she just had insomnia and got up frequently that might not seem odd.

This is not meant to be accusatory in any way, but I still find it so odd that her husband was reportedly not contacted until the following morning. I believe the information that has been released said 9am, but I don’t think it was clear if that was FL or UT time.

That is, her friend found her gone from the room at 4am EST, reportedly the hotel is informed and police are contacted right away, and then somewhere between 5 and 7 hours pass before anyone contacts her husband. I know we all react differently in stressful situations, but if I woke up to my friend missing and the police were contacted, their significant other is the next person I’d be contacting immediately.

Agreed. And why wouldn’t the husband call the friend, her company or the hotel to check on her to make sure she’s ok, since it sounds out of character for her. The police were contacted I think almost immediately upon waking up by the friend, that seems a little impulsive to call the police immediately unless you really thought there was an emergency.

Nothing KG did logically makes sense to support a theory of suicide. She brought her water bottle with her and left her hotel door ajar. The strong favorite at this point has to be that her intention was to fill her water bottle with something or it had something in it she planned to drink while going wherever she was going and planned to be right back to the room. It's a little strange that she'd leave the door ajar with her female friend sleeping and unaware she was leaving at 2 AM but if the theories about some sleep or mind altering medication affected her mental state, then leaving the door ajar may have made sense to her at the time but never will to us.
^^sbm

I'm not in one camp or the other regarding KG's manner of death but I disagree that her actions cannot support the theory of suicide. Her actions can very much be indicative of somebody attempting to disguise a suicide as an accident. I think this is common especially among women.

Did you see the video of a family member at the scene ..."We love you Kelly and know you didn't do this on purpose..." coupled with the friend's statement that she "slept walked out he hotel door" yet her husband (been together more than 14 years) was directly quoted that his wife had no history of sleep disorder/walking.

I also think that taking a sleep aid such as Ambien on second night of trip is realistic.

Her death is very said and I can't help but think of the irony of someone traveling for her company of more than 11 years -- most likely alone -- would presumably drown when she was on a trip accompanied by a friend.

Anywhere in this part of the south, assume that if there is water, there is at least 1 gator. This lake/pond has what looks like a walk in/ almost boat ramp looking thing down at one end- probably to clean it, as you know some folks love to dump trash. I took a look at an aerial view of the hotel. That water comes from the Intercoastal Waterway. Swamp it is not.
There are alligators in that lake. I’ve seen them on the bank inbetween I-95 and the lake. I believe they said there was no struggle, so don’t think it was alligators.

I used to bartend at Penrods, and hung out at more than one bar and homes on the Intercoastal WAY back when I was in college. There was gators back then too. I don't believe this has anything to do with gators either

I find the story by Oxygen misleading in stating that KG and her husband were just married -- suggesting a new relationship. While true the couple was only married since late 2018 -- they had been engaged for more than 14 years.

KG posted her bridal photo on her FB together with another photo of her much younger self-- stating it was her engagement photo from more than 14 years ago. I think the portrayal may be in-part to discount her husband's earlier statement that his wife had no history of sleep disorder/walking which contradicts the father's recent statement that his daughter did sleepwalk during childhood.

Since KG's discovery, I've found a number of odd choices of words attributed to mostly family by media including her dad's statement below about not suffering long. I certainly respect their desire to protect their sister, daughter, friend's memory if her death a suicide but believe in recognizing that depression does not discriminate and nobody is exempt from this disease.

Family Of Utah Woman Found Dead In Lake Behind Florida Hotel Believe Her Death Is An Accident

January 13, 2020

[..]

“Talking with the authorities, I don’t think she was suffering for very long,” Bryce Glover, the woman’s father, told Oxygen.com.

The father called his daughter’s death a “tragic accident.” While the woman’s family is baffled as to how she died, her father said she had a past history with sleepwalking, and said it’s possible that’s what led her to the body of water behind her hotel.

“Ever since she was a little girl she sleepwalked,” Glover added. “I think that could be a big part of it; if that’s the answer, I don’t know.”

However, Glover’s husband, Adam Bremer, previously told local media that he didn’t believe his wife was a sleepwalker, WPLG reported. Bremer, who said his wife was staying with a friend, said the friend awoke to find Glover missing around 4 a.m. on Thursday.

[..]

Pictures of the hotel’s pool area appears to show a small, metal fence separating a patio walkway at the rear of the property from the body of water where Glover’s body was found behind the Westin.

[..]

Glover had only married her husband, Bremer, an Amazon employee in Salt Lake City, last November, the woman’s family said. The newlyweds were supposed to close a sale on a new house this week. The 37-year-old’s father said they were picking out appliances for the home prior to his daughter’s death. They’ve since halted the sale.

I just read on facebook that her friend staying with her was also from UTAH and the reason they know the 1:48 am disappearance time is because each room records what time the doors open and shut ....so strange it was left propped open so it wouldn’t track how many times a person went in and out of the room. Am i overthinking???

I believe the time KG left her room was determined by surveillance video and not because hotels record the number of times a guest EXITS their room. The hotel can monitor or detect when the electronic room key is used to ENTER but no room key is used to exit guests rooms.

I'd love to see the surveillance footage to see if she appeared to be sleepwalking or if she appeared lucid. That would help. They likely will never release it though. I understand her family prolly doesn't want to accept that self harm is a possibility.

May be she remembered seeing an ice machine out by the pool. Or a water (bottled) machine out there, and that's what led her in that direction??????
If she was sober and lucid enough to remember seeing an ice machine by the pool and heading out there for ice, it seems hard to believe she then proceeded to walk through the bushes in her socks and fall into the nearby lake.

The father revealing that sleepwalking was a common thing for his daughter for her entire life seems to lead us pretty clearly to the answer for this, MOO. Big question now is was anything else involved, such as alcohol? But I suppose it's immaterial, really, if the end result was she was sleepwalking and fell into the lake all the same. If that's really what happened, it's almost scarier than the blame being with drugs, alcohol, or foul play. Talk about something truly random and almost unpreventable.
