Cold water may not have woken her. Several years back I was taking Ambien for sleep. I may have taken 2 this particular night (by mistake) I say this because I could not be woke. My husband needs help with the Apnea machine and soon after I fell asleep he tried waking me.
He said I was more than asleep, he did everything to wake me and finally marched me into the shower and ran cold water on me. I never woke up but he believed I was more lucid then dead weight.
Next morning I woke up Hair still wet , and no memory of what went on during that night. I believe if my husband did not find me unable to wake and placed me in the shower, I may not be alive today.
That DRUG should be off the market. Cold shower still left me with NO memory--I was unconscious. Never touched the stuff again.

WoW!! That's a scary story. I have never used it, but it sounds to me that is should be pulled from the market. There are other sleeping aids available and not any of them cause to a person to react like that, at least that I am aware of. Thank God you are alright. Katt

I think it's important to note that not remembering is different than not being "awake." Which is exactly the effect of Ambien. You can do things as though you are awake, like write completely coherent emails (which is why you weren't dead weight), but have absolutely no memory of it even when reminded and confronted with clear evidence of what you did. This will make you feel as though you were "asleep," but you probably (I would say certainly, but that's moo) were not actually sleeping.

eta: re the coherent emails example, ask me how I know :D

Still no cause or manner of death?

The police became involved when a missing person report filed. It seems the family is satisfied that KG's death was a tragic accident. I think it's probably now a private death matter and I don't know that any additional information will be shared with the public. MOO

As someone who at one time in their life sleepwalked (I think I'm too tired to do it now) I can tell you it is extremely disorienting to be "woken up" from it if someone even perseveres long enough to. It's much easier for them just to get you back to bed. In the rare situations it happened around a group of guys who thought it would be a good laugh and worth the effort to get me fully awake it certainly took them much longer than 60 seconds and I can't even tell you at what point in the process I would have been able to be aware enough I was in water to actually swim - but on the other hand there's also truth to the phrase "I could do it in my sleep". If she was truly a regular surfer she might have actually been able to swim in her fugue.

I agree with you. Unless the autopsy shows foul play, we'll likely never know unless her husband or other family members decide to make the COD public. Or, if a lawsuit is brought for one reason or another, that might be picked up by local media.

So we don't get to know final demise. Wow. If no determination of foul play, all the cases on this website just end?

I'm thinking the dogs tracked her to the water. If there are no indications that a gator got her or bodily trauma indicating foul play it will probably list as an accident. Toxicology is of interest and if a drug of some kind the question is it legal or not. If legal did she have a prescription for it and if not; where did she get it. Same question if illegal. Weeks away unless rushed through the system. Without supporting evidence suicide is no IMO.

Reporter from salt lake just responded to an email. We don't get to know what actually happened. End of story.

Whoever started this thread should get verified information and end it so that we don't continue trying to sleuth.

That’s not how it works here.

I stated on Sunday that family seemed resolved to call KG’s death a tragic accident and therefore the likely end to public info. This opinion was based on experience and deductive reasoning.

There’s always the possibility that family will take future civil action against RX mfg or hotel and those claims can be revisited here. Choosing not to sleuth a case is no reason to close or archive a thread.

MOO

This isnt a TV show or a movie. This is a real tragedy that has a family mourning. We arent owed a conclusion if the family or LE gives an update then so be it, but we are owed nothing.

I think all of us at WS know this isn't a movie and we aren't owed an explanation. We all invest our time and emotions into CARING for these victims (and their families) and knowing the end is kind of a closure. It also helps those of us who try to make sense out of cases on "how" the crime happened. The poster wasn't being disrespectful, just stating how a lot of us feel here. Newer posters haven't yet learned that sadly, a lot of times we won't ever find out the ending.

If it was a suicide, I don't "need" to know. If this was an Ambien related accident? I'd really like to know that!

I just read through this thread. Whether we, as interested observers, get closure is really irrelevant to the families affected by the tragedy. There are some facts that came to light after her discovery that just add to the mystery, though.

The first fact is that many on this thread have been under the impression that Kelly and Adam had been together, as in engaged for about 13 years, prior to their marriage but the obituary states quite plainly that Kelly and Adam only reconnected in the last two years of her life.
