In my opinion, if someone used her vehicle in the commission of a felony (such as kidnapping/murder) they wouldn't likely leave it open, calling attention to it (and any evidence it might contain). A better idea would be to park it where it would not be easily spotted and lock it. But then again, I've dealt with some seriously stupid lawbreakers.
The car door being open pretty much tells me that’s where she was probably also found.
That’s what I thought too but the family posted she was found in a different location. They did not state exactly where tho. Trafficking popped in my head, random stranger type crime but that location tho, so odd.

Thank you @KatzEye for that photo. That "lake" by the mall looks like a detention basin (what I would call an overflow drainage pond) that could be full of water during rainy times.
There is quite a lot of water from that viewpoint, and it can be seen from the parking lot.
Yes that would be referred to as a retention pond here in FL. If you zoom in on the satellite photo I posted above, you'll see white areas around the pond. Those are tracks from ATVs, dirt bikes, etc. The darker areas with brown and green are wetlands. When the rainy season (June-Sep) and hurricanes come thru that area between the ponds/lakes is usually flooded until it drains. That may be why they are referring to Keg Lake, as it probably does look like a huge lake when flooded. (I’m very familiar with this area because my former in-laws live there.)
It is always helpful to have local knowledge! Satellite images can help, but they only show the area at one point in time. Conditions can change dramatically throughout the year.
