Hard to imagine that Grandmother died in an accident and so she is buried in the yard in a shallow grave.

I think someone has been in denial about their son's mental/emotional situation for awhile.

Absolutely heartbreaking and so true about anything could have happened.
One thing that comes to mind, is that L was suicidal and K tried to console/stop him, perhaps fighting to get the gun and it went off. L, then totally freaking out, upset, scared - ransacks the house and takes the car. Can 15 year olds drive?
Has he met up with un savoury characters recently?
complete speculation.

Wow! Was not expecting this. Thoughts & prayers for the family. I hope he is taken into custody with no further violence. May God have mercy on all involved.

It's hard to admit your own child is a coldblooded killer.

That is totally possible. I hadn't looked at it like that.

I do agree there is a good possibility the boy was despondent and agitated. It's Thanksgiving week and Mom has new family , out of state, and Dad is on vacay with his girlfriend. Very sad situation. JMO

It would be especially hard if that son had wanted to come home to you but it never happened for various reasons...

I am in the Jacksonville area, and immediately had the same thoughts, especially in regards to the father. Why not take the son on vacation too? And his mom has 3 kids under 5? Clearly she didn’t have much time for him.

This appears that be a child that was left behind as both parents moved on to new lives. It sounds like he snapped and took it out on the person who probably cared about him the most.

Pretty early on in this thread, I began gently hinting my suspicions about the son. ...

There were a few things that made me question the situation. No home invader/burglar is going to take a grandma and grandson of a Deputy, hostage on a road trip. It makes no sense.

And they were both awol on mon and tues, but then someone sent those texts. That made it clear it was probably son or grandma sending them. imo

But before all that happened I had scanned through the FB's and I noted that the father is a very athletic, type A, extreme sports type of individual. There are pix of him deep sea diving, surfing, parachuting, boxing, running marathons, etc etc. But I didn't see his son with him in any of those sports pix.

And the son's drastic change from long haired, casual looking 15 yr old, to shaved head soldier type look--shocked me a bit. And then heard it was a 'dare' from his LE officer, type A father to get a buzz cut. That worried me...

On top of that, we have a long long dragged out divorce with his mom living in another state and having 3 children under 5. It sounds to me like the son may have felt some kind of way about his life. Mom is far away and distracted by new family. Dad is super competitive and an authority figure, and was likely a tough love kind of Dad.

Grandma was probably the most caring and loving connection he had. So I think he must have really gone off the deep end if he is responsible for that shallow grave.

I’m just really sad about Kristina. Presumably she moved to FL from MI to be closer to her family [emoji24]

I think it's totally unfair to blame the parents.People act like the dad left him on the streets. He let him for short time with his loving grandma. The kid was lucky to have people in his life that loved him which many kids don't.I feel bad for the actual victim which is Kristina. No excuses.

This may sound weird, but I get the feeling he loved his grandmother very much, and ended her life because he couldn't bare for her to deal with his future actions. Going to the fathers and ransacking and stealing guns--makes me wonder if he had planned to harm his father at one point...

Hi Katy. I had the same thoughts only with the guns taken, I wonder about violence on a much larger scale...school shooting etc

I think that he is far more likely to harm himself than anyone else and may have already done so.
