your question, was Madeline somewhere else where he picked her up from and then returned at 8:19am. sigh....we dont know if he was at the Soto house overnite or if there is an arrival time in the morning.
Red flags were waving to me when JS says she asked SS to "pick Maddie up and take her to school". You don't ask someone to "pick someone up and take them somewhere" If they lived in the same house. You'd say "can you take her to school", not "pick her up". Unless either SS didn't sleep at the house that night, but that would be odd for JS to ask him to come over and take her to school (~90 mins before it started), or Maddie herself didn't come home that night and she needed to be "picked up from somewhere".
LE: "we believed he moved her body" but they dont say from where.
While I could be wrong about this... I'd think LE wouldn't word it as "moving the body" if they were talking about getting a body in a car from the house. Sure, it's been physically moved because you can't teleport a body... but why say that about something so obvious (there's a body in the car so therefore it must have been moved there). It just sounds to me like he moved it from somewhere other than her house due to LE's wording of that.

Shortened for focus. Bolding was OP's (and what I'm focusing on)

IMO what she meant by what she was allowed to tell... was what storyline SS gave her to stick to. All MOO
Agree. Or what they had agreed on as The Story, and she momentarily blanked and this came out of her mouth as it sounds like something you would hear in a television show.

This is more like you're on a jury or witness to a crime and have been told to be discreet. It doesn't really fit though in the context of a missing child. I mean, your CHILD is missing--tell everything, tell it all, tell us what she had for breakfast, you miss her so much, a memory of when she was a baby, babble on lady!

This reporter says at a family's house and SS was there, but I think it was at grandma's house too. If we could find a pic of her backyard? Do we need to though? Will it matter, now that we know she was seen in the vehicle at 7:35? now there's nothing to say she was anywhere else but home.

It doesn't really matter unless we theorize MS stayed at her grandmother's or another relatives house Sunday night and that is where SS "picked MS" up from Monday morning, at some unknown time, but early morning hours as he was discarding the laptop, etc by 7:30.

This could make sense timeline was as well if the relative needed to get to work as that typically would involve an earlier start time that MS' school, and makes more sense with the general overall timeline we have been working from here.

The party being at a friend's house doesn't make sense to me, as grandmother said in the Telemundo: "She had her two friends here..." The use of "here" might be incorrect translation, but this seems really to have been more of a family focused party, which makes JS absence the more unusual.

Question: Under what circumstances would Mom not want to autopsy report released?

The question should be “what purpose would it serve”? I wouldn’t want my child’s autopsy report released, just to be picked apart by the general public. imo

what purpose would it serve for it to be publicly released? It will likely come out in trial [snipped as I was mistaken] I doubt it is mom who is keeping it from being released. I would bet that LE want it held closer to vest for now. JMO

I must have missed a link somewhere. Can you share where the cause of death has been disclosed?

I haven't heard anything about cod and wonder what I should have heard.

Well shoot, I got Madeline's COD confused with Audrii's my apologies. Maybe we don't know COD then for Madeline?

I should have bern more clear I meant COD, autopsy report is unnecessary. I was thinking if she could withhold the COD from being made public. Even though she owes nothing to the public, If the COD was known it may mean the public possibly giving her more support or can she win either way ? I should not have asked why wouldn’t she ? It baits a negative response, when I was thinking more about how the general public interprets lack of info.

I think a couple of things were happening concurrently.

First, the subhuman SS was working a years' long scam. Presenting as a steady stepfather figure to gain unfettered access to a minor, had to make sure that stayed solid. The mother, groomed and gaslit. Just like he groomed and gaslit poor MS. Why didn't she tell? Maybe she did. Maybe she was underbelieved or he was overbelieved. Maybe she didn't tell because she was told that telling would cost her her home or her mother or embarrassing photos... or her brain itself was confused, trying to make sense of abuse she'd grown up with. Both mother and daughter living with major cognitive dissonance. SS may have convinced or attempted to convince MS that it wasn't abuse but a relationship. Vile. But not unheard of.

So the other part of this is that he obviously wanted to stay on this side of getting caught, not just by the police, but by JS.

Let's pretended she is allllllll victim.

Let's say SS returns from the party. Convinces JS that MS has already gone to her room. Oh so tired. Let's say he sits with JS for a time, lets her know he's planning to head back to his mom's for the night. GIves her a lil sumpin sumpin which knocks her out. Giving him time to work with AND might explain why she woke up too groggy for chauffeurring. So she calls him, assuming he had left, to come pick MS up.

Now he begins the next charade. Has to convince JS that MS is home, alive. Or, if not that, that there's a story to tell and she needs to provide and stick to it.

IMO MS was never in her own bed that night (unless SS drugged JS). It's possible MS was murdered the night before and never went into or out of that house at all. Just fancy foul footwork for SS, messing with JS's head.

Example: JS hears the shower. Hears MS's bedroom door. Believes SS is not there, it's just the two of them, JS and MS, at home so any sounds would lend, based on the errant assumption, toward being from MS. (Let's hope she's being utterly forthcoming with LE now.)

FWIW I think he murdered MS after the party. Went home to arrange what needed arranging, including JS herself. Returned once to discard the backpack and tablet, almost an afterthought. Drove MS toward school. Her body that is. Idiot attempts at staging normalcy.

JS may be an accessory or she have genuinely and blindingly believed that whatever happened to MS, it happened after 8:30 and the events from the morning were irrelevant... and also fuzzy. By design. His.

Lots of layers to pull back.

Meanwhile SS had how-many-unsupervised-hours to do his deed, clean up/conceal/stage.

Sadly I don't think MS made it out of her birthday (birthday-party day).

And if I could, take it one step further, perhaps MS had been told something "special" was going to happen after her 13th birthday. In the woods. And it was SS who set that up, knowing precisely what evil would overtake her there. SS controlled the subplot of this whole family.

I hope the moron had his phone with him the whole time.

JMO

Possibly any? I could see a shocked, grief stricken parent of a murdered child not want to make anything further public about the child at all. Especially if you are not well liked by the general public etc. she may just be guarding herself and whatever is left of Maddie’s dignity (though I think SS removed that entirely to be honest).

Re: So she calls him, assuming he had left, to come pick MS up.

The problem with this is SS' parents house is 3-4 hours away. If JS needed someone to give MS a ride to school, and she believed SS had left, why call him? Why not her mom, a sister, another parent living nearby?

I’ve asked this before - do police have to release it to mom if she’s being questioned and her statements don’t line up with what they say they know?

Ok, so if we go back to Sunday night or early Monday morning:remember how the police who has SS phone noticed there were items in the images that matched items in the Soto apartment. If I am remembering correctly--I do not have the document here, but will go back and look--this was clothing and linens in BOTH SS room and MS room.

And the LE who were with SS were able to verify with the officers at the Soto apartment at that time the items matched. Meaning some of the images were very recent--i.e. MS clothes and/or SS clothes were in both bedrooms?

Is SS had not been living with JS and MS, and by his own words "MS was happy we were all together here this weekend"
this seems like proof some abuse happened that night/morning in the Soto condo.

Does anyone have the document saved?

I don't have it saved but I know what you're talking about. And it does say they matched items from the rooms in the images / videos so yes, some abuse did happen inside her home. I had wondered, if they found clothes belonging to SS in her room or her clothes in his room -- how the hell did mum not notice this?? Surely she'd have seen her daughter's room and what was in it?? Doesn't even seem like police had to look that hard to match things up. If Maddie's clothes or his (eg: underwear) were in a room they shouldn't have been in and they were out in the open (eg: on the floor or whatever)?? OMG I'm going to rage so hard!! There is no way mum shouldn't have noticed that if it wasn't super hidden!

Ok I found a copy of it and it says "patterned underwear, shirts, blankets and sheets"...The copy I am looking at has the rest of the language blacked out, but I know the copy shared here on Websleuths discusses the part where there was LE with SS and his phone and LE at the Soto condo.

Edited: crossposted--Thank you!!
