UNSOLVED FL - Mandarin, Skeletal Remains in yard, Mar'11

Yes, exactly. Knew the ground was already disturbed perhaps, and that more rubbish would be thrown over the area soon.

It doesn't look like a place one would stumble on at random.

This property looks to be one that has been well maintained for a very long time. It was reported the previous owner (and I have no idea why they wouldn't focus on the present owner. Maybe they've only owned it for a short time.) had owned and lived on that property for 30 years. That would indicate to me it was perhaps an elderly person when he sold the property. My point is this. Being a well maintained property for a very long time is no easy feat in the great State of Florida. The rate of growth the majority of the year is a major feat to keep at bay and unless you are an avid gardener and yard person, in good shape, I might add, you need to hire others to do that kind of work. If I had to guess, this property owner hired people to do this so it would be anyone's guess who.

Your statement leads me to believe that this body was found under a pile of debris? I didn't pick up on that in the news report.

Landscaper or maybe......."tree service"?

Lo and behold, I did a search on the distance from Palatka to Mandarin Rd. and it's only 57 minutes travelling time. Just a hunch here, but it would explain a 2 to 3 hour gap in someone's accounting of an "8" hour shift that lasted 11 hours with time to stop for cigarettes and peanuts.

Anyone we know with access to landscaping tools, vehicles, etc? People who trim trees, and do landscaping...where do they take the truckloads of debris?

Not yet that I know of. I'm trying to keep an eye on the news in that part of the State.

I can't see Ron doing this himself. I'm sure he "loved" Haleigh in his own deranged way, but I don't think he could put her in the ground though. I would be more suspious of the aunt with the wood chipper (sorry folks, makes me sick too,) and landscaping business. Also, there's Jack, Ron's father, another shady character and GGS. She's a tough lady and I could see her taking care of the entire thing herself.

That whole gang seems pretty confident about the body not being found, so I'm thinking that it is not little Haleigh.

I thought that's what the video showed when it gave the glimpse of the LE vans through the vegetation. Maybe I was seeing it wrong. You're right, they didn't say anything. It was clearly quite a distance from the house, in the kind of area where vegetation would grow rapidly.

I'm pretty sure they did say the current owner hadn't been there very long. It was early on, right before they talk about the previous owner who had lived there for 30 years.

I agree totally with the rest of your analysis. Over the course of 30 years, who knows how many different people had worked there and remembered it when they needed to get rid of something?

I wonder if the back of the lot is approachable by boat. The house does not appear to be very close to the water?

The skull and bones were found 3/15/11 correct? -so 6 days ago, and basically we have heard NOTHING else about it? This brings a few thoughts to mind. Was an adult a child.... Since they did not announce "this is an adult" or "this is not a child" what are we to think?

a) CHILD/ ADULT- with in "hours" experts on the scene could tell if it was a small child or an adult. Is it just me? *Did I miss something? Usually there is an official annoucment rather quickly to confirm or deny ~ can we assume by what we have NOT been told that indeed it may have been a child?

b) One reason LE would not announce it was a child is because there are MANY missing small children in Florida. It's in LE best intrest not to alarm the public by stating it is a child but we don't know what child. IMO they would want to identify the remains and be able to give an identity at that time as well.

c) Dental records would only take a few days to yield an identity, but I believe *I read HC had never been to see a dentist? * Do we know if HC ever had any x-rays done? if not all that can be done is DNA analysis. DNA can take weeks get results back.

Their silence, and the location of the find is concerns me deeply.

Also at one point when searching for HC wasn't *Great Grandmother out in the woods near the St.Johns river kicking leaves around looking for evidence or for HC after a tip was called in but before LE got there?
It's been so long!
*Can anyone help me here?

I found the GGma story!
It was bothering me because the terrain sounds oddly similar to shell habour rd.

HOLLARS: I was the one that called you and told you that.

SYKES: Yes, she did. Ms. Hollars called me and told me -- she certainly did -- that she had called down here and told them what Tommy had told her. And Teresa and I went and -- over to that area and walked around all afternoon and looked in the woods over there. But of course, we didn`t find anything. (This would have had to have occurred on Monday afternoon, April 12 , not Tuesday afternoon, April 13, as LE were there conducting their search at that time + see the last part of Gma Syke's comment below)

Why would GGma Sykes and Gma Neves search the wooded area near the St. John River all afternoon, the day before LE began their search? Didn't they realize that any claims of finding evidence would be deemed seriously questionable (chain of custody...)? Of course they did! Which raises my GGma Sykes & TN suspicious behavior meter even more. Actually it may have gone off the charts on this latest...

Bingo........yes.

and...yes.

Has anyone looked at this real estate to determine previous owner? has anyone found a connection to this family?

The County Tax Appraisers office would list prior owners but those owners are neither suspects, POI's, nor publicly named. I do not think we can name them here. TOS. Correct?

Correct. If there is a strong possibility that these remains could be Haleigh's, you could use initials and link to the property profile. But at this point, that would really be a stretch.

Let's see if we can find out more about the remains. We at least need to know if it is a child or adult, KWIM?

I do recall that at one time it was said that CS and or RC had Haleigh's DNA that they gave to LE. Anyone else recall this?

Does anyone not find it odd that we start hearing that Misty is offered immunity, then a plastic skull is found near a dock in Satsuma in Feb 2011, and now this real skull and remains are found around a home at the St. John's river. Then we hear nothing about a possible ID on who it could be? They can measure legs/arms/skull to know if it's a child or adult. They also have Haleigh's DNA I thought, if it were not her they would of already came out and said so I would assume right? Something fishy here, and today is election day FYI.

I do recall reading the previous owner had lived there for thirty years... I checked the link on page 1 of this thread that named the previous owner but the information is no longer there for me...JMHO

OK, I sent a couple of emails to a few reporters in hope they will keep the public updated on what is going on. I hope they take the time to follow up. The silence is driving me

I did a quick map-quest from Green LN to Mandarin Road just to see how far it is from where Haleigh went missing. It shows that it's about 1 hour 15 mins away. Pretty far, but it still makes me wonder. Wasn't Misty in/near St Augustine area the weekend before Haleigh went missing while she was on her party binge? Anyone know how far this is from GGMS house? Anyone know if that store Ron stopped at is on this route? Not that this means anything, no knowing anything regarding the find on March 15Th makes ones mind just start to wonder. :banghead: Wish LE would at least say if it was an adult or child that was found. :banghead:

May I please ask have they found out any more on this skull found?I am interested in this.

Ms. Suzanne, no, nothing new yet. I'd be more inclined to think it's related to your sister than to Haleigh.
