Sheriff, NAACP to hold news conference on Markeis McGlockton shooting
Updated: July 31, 2018 at 08:14 AM
LARGO — Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, a local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Upper Pinellas County Ministerial Alliance will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. today to discuss the shooting of Markeis McGlockton.

Andrew, I will disagree. I watched the entire presser. I am gobsmacked. This guy, of all the high-profile things I have followed, is one of the worst people as to a presser. He inflamed, and was all over the place. Not a very good representative to have had doing that presser in my opinion.

Can someone link the whole conference when it becomes available. Couldn't watch it live. TIA!

He was terrible. They needed someone calm, rational, and professional. He was defensive, angry, argumentative, and seemed to hint if he had his way his citizens would be shooting each other rather than involving law enforcement in their problems. And when asked about the taboo subject - more defensiveness, more arguing, more denial.

First, no evidence that HE was yelling at the wife. You don't know if it was her that was yelling at him. Secondly, yes he did advance. After the push he too two steps towards MD, and pulls up on his waistband. It isn't until MD reaches for the gun that MM stepped back.
thats literally not true

Clearly took at least 2 steps backwards BEFORE the gun was even pulled. Clear as day

I dare anyone to deny he took multiple steps back and had his hands at his sides before the gun was ever pulled.

Video is proof

Attorney: Parking Lot Shooting of Man 'Cold-Blooded Murder'

"Drejka pulled up in his SUV seconds later, parking perpendicular to Jacobs. Drejka got out, walked to the back of Jacobs' car, looked at the license plate, and then went to the front, apparently looking for a handicapped sticker there....

...He then walked to Jacobs' window. He is speaking from about a foot away and gesturing with his hands. A man entering the store about 15 feet away stops to look and a woman glances over."

If a man blocked my wife's car in, circled her car and then got within a foot of her window yelling at her in such a way that other customers were staring...I'd feel he was a danger to her. That is very scary, very aggressive and threatening. This man looked for confrontation, as he has done this exact thing before and threatened to shoot someone.

Look closely. Two steps back only after Drejka reached into pocket. When the gun is produced, assailant blades.. Up til that time, the assailant kept advancing. I believe this key fact - the continued advance on the prostrate Drejka after the body slam - will be the determining factor in allowing Drejka to use SYG.
PS The video you show is WAY speeded up. Needs to be slowed down, not sped up.

Soo you agree he backed up before the gun was ever visible? That takes any threat of deadly force away.

Merly pointing the gun would have sufficed as Markeis was already backing up. <modsnip: removed opinion stated as fact>

also: look at the video, its clear steps were made backwards before Drejka even put his hand in his pocket.

Somebody has taken frames out. Dude running to his car vanishes. And I've studied the original video frame by frame and MM does not back up until MD reaches for his gun. Until then he was advancing.

Whether he saw it or not, which is inconclusive by the video, I think MM is likely street smart enough to know whats coming when someone reaches like that. I doubt it was in his pocket, so he likely saw the holster.

The lawyer is lying. MD never got to a foot from the window.

This is exactly where he was standing as MM exited the store. Between four to five feet from the glass IMO.

There are two videos I posted that show MM taking at least two steps back before the gun was ever visible. That makes him retreating and not a threat of deadly force.

You even stated that he took steps back as he was putting hands in pocket. So we agree, MM was backing up.

Of Course CBS Morning News would cut the moment MM was actually shot. Kids watch the show.

It does not though, cut anything that would show MM was doing anything other than backing away.

That only shows a portion. If you study the actual video frame by frame you will see that as soon as MD bounces up he is reaching behind his right hip. At this point MM was still advancing. What do you actually believe made such an aggressive man retreat like that. He saw the gun is the only explanation.

There are plenty of full clips out there. Find a good one and study what happens frame by frame. Focus only on MMs feet and MDs right hand. MD was clearly reaching and MM either saw it or sensed what he was doing.

No, we do not agree. You are fighting facts every step of the way. MM only backed up when he became aware of the gun. It happened quickly, in about a second. But MD had to be quick didn't he because he could not risk that the man standing over him might strike the weapon from his hand.

his feet like this? Pointing away?

MD looks like he is putting his hand down to get up, Nothing says explicitly he is getting a gun and MM still is backing up.

And even if your incorrect information was hypothetically done, you admit if MM saw him reaching, stepped back, was he still a threat and deserved to be shot?

No.
