No, we do not agree. You are fighting facts every step of the way. MM only backed up when he became aware of the gun. It happened quickly, in about a second. But MD had to be quick didn't he because he could not risk that the man standing over him might strike the weapon from his hand.

Sounds like we agree he backed up, which means he wasnt a threat of deadly force. Thus no reason to shoot, no application of SYG

<modsnip: snipped reference to post that was removed> he backed up before the gun was ever even drawn. That contradicts MD's claim to have deadly force thrown upon him. How can it possibly make sense that a man backing up is providing deadly force?

Not just my mouth. They've reasoned that because people were glancing over as they walked to and from the store, it means MD was screaming. However, they never for a moment question whether it was the woman in the car that was causing the disturbance.

Why would you think it was her? Is there something about her makes you think that? I say MD was because it was reported so. What is your reason for going against every report to say Britney was causing the disturbance? Im genuinely curious

I disagree completely. MD had to make the decision quickly as MM was advancing on him. He reached back, aimed and fired in one fluid motion, taking just over a second. MMs fate was sealed when he advanced on the wrong helpless person. Now if MM had pushed and walked immediately away, that would have been a different story.

<modsnip> he obviously backed up, but not until after MD reached to his hip. <modsnip>

But you said he backed up as MD reached for his hip? So which is it, he backed up or advanced on him?

<modsnip> I have not heard any report of what was said. I can only go by what happened on the video and I've stated as much many times, but I'll say it again for your benefit. The only thing that we know with any kind of certainty is that MD said over his shoulder as he walked away "you're in a f__king handicapped spot". This was according to the woman in the car. A second later he turns around and responds, so she must have said something right? Now what do you think she could have said? She was in the handicapped space, so there really isn't an explanation there. Probably didn't say "I'm sorry". So more than likely she told him to mind his own business.

You will also notice that as MM appears, she jumps out of the car. She is not afraid of this guy. She is clearly upset at him. She's angry. On the other hand MD seems very calm and composed. He gives her space, never coming within 4 feet of the car. He isn't being demonstrative with his hands like some have said, although he does point at her as MM exits the store.

I'm not saying that MD wasn't yelling, he likely was raising his voice by the end of it, but I don't believe that he was the only one, nor was he the one that escalated the argument.

<modsnip>
<modsnip> He backed up only because he realized that he was now not in 100% control of the situation.

So, was he backing away or not? It cannot be both.

I believe he was backing up because he had neutralized the threat against his family. To me it looked like D was reaching down to push himself up. The gun was very unexpected and shocking IMO.

Here is the link to the sheriff's press conference from earlier today. Take note that the NAACP was to participate and didn't show up. Also, listen carefully as you hear the sheriff say that BJ told the police during questioning that MD NEVER threatened her with violence. Please again listen to the sheriff tell you that MM shoved MD hard enough that it lifted him off his feet before he was shoved to the ground.
The video is only showing 4 seconds of the scene. They also stated that MM NEVER said anything to MD prior to assaulting him. Watch the entire video, I did. The situation and investigation speak for themselves.

Clearwater 'Stand Your Ground' deadly shooting case could go to state attorney this week

<modsnip> MM advanced on MD until he pulled the gun. That should tell you that he made the right decision.

For MM to so quickly physically attack an older guy by shoving him hard to the ground in a parking lot he has been the aggressor before so he is not naïve.

Everyone knows guns are the go to these days.

MM decided that he would stand up for doing something wrong [parking in handicap].

He had time to second think what he was doing as he approached.

He could have diffused by showing some grace and saying “hey, move the car” to B and “we hear you dude move on now” to MD. Been a good example to his child and would be here to live his life.

But it happens every day when puffed up folks feel they have been dissed.

Our community has similar senseless diss based fatal shootings frequently and they don’t make national news. <modsnip>

Parking lot brawls and consequence shootings are common.

MM was a big boy who has plenty of company dying for what he believed was his honor whether we agree or not it appears to be a price many are willing to pay.

IMO

<modsnip> I don't know how I can be any clearer. MM advanced on him. Two steps, then he puts his hands on his hips. MD reaches for the gun, which MM probably saw and he took a step back. You've seen the video <modsnip>

Our community has similar senseless diss based fatal shootings frequently and they don’t make national news. Why? Because it is black on black crime and that is somehow ok?

IMO

you do know Drejka has harassed people and threaten to shoot them over a parking spot in the past
