This is the key part that some people are missing. You don't get out of your car if you're scared of somebody you're arguing with. MM didn't react with an uncivilized shove because he was afraid for her. He thought he could just bully the little guy arguing with her.
MD trapped her car in, started circling it and harassed her. She probably felt trapped and tried to get away

Also to dispel mistruths being pushed

MM and MD were same size, per pics
MD is not elderly, he is 47 which nowhere is considered senior citizen

Calling Drejka a "small" "weak" "elderly" "old" or "helpless" is wrong and stereotypical just as assuming MM is a gangbanger or 🤬🤬🤬🤬 which is wrong. Also where is the description of the mother being "weak""precious" "vulnerable" or "helpless" that MD is being attributed with (for no actual reasons)? I know its is common for young white women to be considered so just from reading missing persons cases on here. IMO BJ is not getting looked at the same way, I saw people infer she started the argument and was screaming backed with nothing other than the stereotype that black women are "sassy" and "combative". IMO

Characterizing these two as such only creates a false narrative, projects racial stereotypes and give ammo to any who wants to use this situation to push a racist agenda. (not stating anyone in particular)

I wish the case was reported without mentions of race because IMO I am sure that there would be some different opinions.

No way to know, but an interesting hypothetical - if she had shot and killed him then would SYG have applied? Would she have been let free after taking a man's life? It seems so subjective, like if she could just convince the officer she believed her life was in danger it would have been acceptable.

What an absolutely insane law.

Maybe... I noticed the man loitering in the area with out an apparent purpose. This made me nervous. No, I did not see the handicap sign.

Next thing I know, I am be confronted by the loiterer. He is angry, talking rapidly, and has one hand by his waist- possibly near a concealed weapon. Fearing a vigilante attack, I killed him pre-emptively....

I can put a believable spin spin on it: I noticed the man loitering in the area with out an apparent purpose. This made me nervous. No, I did not see the handicap sign. I think that there has to be a descriptive adjective in front of 'man' for that to work with the law. And there has to be the opposite adjective for the woman.

bbm... link?

This is a lot of speculation on your end. We can only go by what was on the footage and actually reported in MSM. He backed up and by the letter and spirit of the law he was not a deadly threat.

Also it is completely relevant as MM was not a threat when backing up. The situation was over after MM stepped back multiple steps before MD ever even pulled out a gun. If a man is 5-7 feet away and stepping backwards, imo that is not a immediate deadly threat to MD. IMO he had a itchy trigger finger as per reports he had harassed others and threatened to shoot them too.

Here's a link to one statement by BJ, the relevant part bbm.

He is accused of killing someone in a parking spot dispute. Authorities say he was standing his ground.

“My man hears what’s going on, sees the guy yelling at me and I’m sitting in the car. My man is defending me and his children, so he pushes him down,” she told “Good Morning America.”

“The guy is on the ground and he pulls the gun out. . . . My dude steps back ’cause my dude is fearing for his life — all of us were,” she added.

I might add that not one witness including BJ said that MD threatened her.

Also notice the bystander in the video. He appears to be approaching perhaps to diffuse the situation. He appears to step away at the same time MM does. I think they realize simultaneously that MD is in the process of retrieving a firearm.

My dude steps back because he was fearing for his life. He wasn't fearing for his life when he pushed MD imo. He fears for his life when the guy on the ground pulls the gun. By then it's too late.

You don't think that killing someone is an overreaction to being pushed over?

I think that there has to be a descriptive adjective in front of 'man' for that to work with the law. And there has to be the opposite adjective for the woman.

Good point: The male was aggressive and large. Furthermore, he had appeared to be targeting me as he stalked around my car and peered inside. I concluded that he was noting that I was a vulnerable woman. Once he saw that I was the only adult in the car, he confronted me. I then killed him... .

And then he would not be described as an old (47!) weaker, smaller man. The descriptive adjective would be enough.

I agree, and if we were to look more closely I think we could find lots of examples.

I think from MD's vantage point on the ground, after being violently shoved, and MM advancing, it's reasonable to think one might be further attacked.

And would you feel the same if the positions were reversed?

It's been agreed upon by both sides of the conversation here and by video that Markeis was backing up. Again, please stop spreading mistruths

Yes and the old weak 47 year old, half his size and twice his age. And pummeling.

girlfriend says she was fearing for her life. but her actions (or lack of them) indicate otherwise. why not roll up window? honk horn? drive away? call LE? instead, she verbally engages MD, gets out of vehicle?? tells responding LE there was no where else to park (video proves otherwise).

Why not criticize MD for harassing her in the first place? Why could MD not call police on the errant parker? Why does it fall on the victim of the harassment?

Drejka trapped her in with his car. Circled the car peering in. Thats scary no matter who it is.

You miss the point. I was pointing out the inconsistency in her statements.
