BOOM. This. Thanks Dexter.
The video doesn't support that. The video shows D talking to the woman in the car, MM running out and slamming him to the ground, and D rolling, sitting up and shooting. No gun nuts, no aggression from D, no violence until MM comes along. Total self defense. Don't want to get shot? Don't attack people.

well, we really don't know how badly Drejka was injured, because that info hasn't been released...
Because he wasn't injured at all, IMO.
Where is that written in Florida law? That you can respond to words with violence? Please post a link.
Right here........
776.012 Use or threatened use of force in defense of person.—
(1) A person is justified in using or threatening to use force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. A person who uses or threatens to use force in accordance with this subsection does not have a duty to retreat before using or threatening to use such force.

And since I have to say it so often on this thread, this language justifies non-deadly force to defend another, not just yourself.

If this ever reaches trial I'll watch every minute I can. Considering how many people on this thread see totally different events in the video I can't imagine a jury wouldn't do the same. moo

If this ever reaches a courtroom, I'll eat my shirt (because I don't wear hats often enough.)

That would be a violation of the right to privacy. Why would the person defending themselves be "mentally ill" and the person brutally attacking them not?
Lets keep it real.

Do you know how many legal gun owners that are actually not mentally fit to continue carrying their guns.

But instead of reporting themselves. They keep carrying regardless.

So hopefully the family files a civil suit against him and have his mental health medical records subpoenaed. Jmo

That's a great idea. I hope so too.

I absolutely agree a wrongful death lawsuit should be filed.

Exactly. Because even an abused spouse would have initially been arrested after shooting husband dead because he pushed her to the floor.

LE would have checked her Internet searches and everything else before simply say no harm no foul.

It's a fantasy many people have. Did you ever see A Christmas Story? There are grown men who see themselves as Ralphie, using their Red Rider BB rifles to save everyone from the bad guys.

Did you ever see Groundhog Day? I feel like we’re living it on this thread. JMO. Hopefully updated info will be coming out.

more like Happy Death Day day (not nearly as good as Groundhog Day, but decent).

You are not allowed to file a civil suit against someone who used self defense in Florida. It's the law there. So, no suing of D. They will probably sue the store

Check Florida law, you can't sue someone who acted in self defense. Why do you believe the man has mental health records? Most people don't need psychiatric or psychological care. Anyhow, there is nothing crazy about not wanting to be beaten.

In Stand Your Ground Cases, only the past 60 seconds are relevant. I know it's hard for some people to understand, but 60 seconds only. Medical records, criminal histories, prior run-ins - don't add up to jack.
Still awaiting toxicologies...

There were no threats, the woman's police report states that. You can't attack someone unless there is a clear and present threat. The woman
said that there were no threats.

You're right and the woman will be responsible for all courts costs, including the attorney because a civil judge won't allow the suit to go forth and if the case is found to be self defense, the family is responsible for all costs since Florida believes a person shouldn't be victimized twice. No, they'll go after the store because the insurance company will settle, if the owner has insurance. If he doesn't, he will be responsible for defending himself in court.
