I haven't been able to keep up with the news today. Can someone please fill me in on the closet homosexual part? TIA

He was not closeted, in the pure using of the word. Closeted gay men get married, make babies , and with their male buddies talk about how hot "she" is, and what they would do to "her" if they got her.

Men who are driving to gay bars , hours away, cruising gay days are not closeted. moo

Closeted gay men, if the report is true, do not ask other males out on a date.

nor do they flirt with drag queens on a reguliar basis!

Closeted gay men are not interacting with gay males on three gay hook up sites.

It is so confusing , as to the "resistnace" the dude was gay.

Why did the killer give blood? Hoping he lives on? Does he have a disease? Cruelty to make those who got blood to question if it was his? Just gives a sense of how twisted he was.

Maybe at the particular school you worked at, or the particular school district, but it's certainly not something that "all US schools" are "supposed to do" every month.

Please don't make assumptions about where I live or what the schools do or don't do where I live. If you have a question about it, feel free to ask, but don't make assumptions.

I've been teaching for 7 years and we don't do any type of drill or situation drill/training monthly.

Anyone else notice in http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nside-home-Orlando-terrorist-Omar-Mateen.html June 14
that the photo of OM's Statewide Firearm License, State of Florida shows Sept 13, 2015 as expiration date. Of course, entirely poss it had been renewed.

I thought I read - source unknown - that he had been terminated from G4s (Wackenhut Security). Anyone else? MSM source? Or did I dream it, LOL?

If ^ already covered, sorry, catching up.

Mateen’s licenses were valid through 2017.

Putnam runs the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which oversees weapons permits in Florida. The department hasn’t released Mateen’s application paperwork.

http://m.newsherald.com/news/20160613/putnam-orlando-gunman-cleared-background-checks

His licenses are now listed as Archived/Deceased.

https://licensing.freshfromflorida....COUNTY=00&LICENSE=D 2723758&STATUS=IND_DETAIL

The 2017 expiration dates were easily verified online (yay Florida!) before the status was changed.

I haven't seen anything that suggests he had been fired from G4S. I do recall a statement from them on Sunday verifying his employment. I can fetch a link for that if need be.

There are over 100 radical mosques in the U.S. How do we know the one he went to was not one of these? We have one not too far from where we live and it makes me very uneasy that it is just being "watched" but nothing can be done about it!

And both him and another radical islamic terrorist went to the same mosque.

I guess I don't understand the meaning of "closeted."

This guy did get married & make babies. (Well, one baby I'm aware of.)

Driving to gay bars hours away? Isn't that exactly what a closeted gay would do? He wouldn't want to be seen going to a gay bar in his own city where he might be recognized, so he goes to one hours away. And while there, since he has anonymity by being far from home, that's where he would flirt with drag queens and ask other men out on dates.

Interacting with gay males on gay hookup sites? Isn't that exactly what a closeted gay would do? He wouldn't want to be recognized hitting on gay men openly where he could be seen, but gay hookup sites would provide relative anonymity.

I would think gay hookup sites and gay bars hours away would be exactly what a closeted gay would gravitate to, since he can't be seen openly in public going to gay bars near home or going out in public on a same-sex date or having a same-sex relationship.

What am I missing?

Ha! Yes .. I think I know what he was 'surveying'! ;)

And yet, despite the Islamic terrorist's own words telling us why he committed this horrible atrocity, still there are so many who seek to deny its truth. I have to admit, I just don't get it. I don't understand the overwhelming desire to not recognize Islamic terrorism for what it is.

I agree. This was not just a hate crime.

Security company G4S released a statement saying that Orlando, Fla., nightclub gunman Omar Mateen had worked for them for several years.

"We are shocked and saddened by the tragic event that occurred at the Orlando nightclub," the statement said . "We can confirm that Omar Mateen had been employed with G4S since September 10, 2007. We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, including the FBI, as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends, families and people affected by this unspeakable tragedy."

And:

G4S plc - Statement on attack in Orlando, Florida
12 June 2016

G4S is deeply shocked by the tragic events in Orlando this weekend and the thoughts of everyone at G4S are with the victims and their families.

Omar Mateen was employed by G4S at a residential community in South Florida and was off-duty at the time of the incident. Mateen was subject to detailed company screening when he was recruited in 2007 and re-screened in 2013 with no adverse findings. He was also subject to checks by a U.S. law enforcement agency with no findings reported to G4S.

G4S is providing its full support to all law enforcement authorities in the USA as they conduct their investigations.

Even people that are usually exempt from reporting criminal behavior (i.e. shrinks) have a duty to report it if a patient tells them they plan to commit a murder.

I think that falls under the category of Mandated Reporter, which also includes knowledge of abuse.

Please don't think I'm being petty, however, if the shooter, in fact, had an AR-15, he did not have an "assault" rifle. The "AR" simply stands for the company that made them, ArmaLite (why they didn't use AL is quite beyond me). The AR-15 works much the same as any other firearm, such as my own pistol. You pull the trigger it fires a round. However, it is capable of firing up to 60 rounds per minute (iirc). You can get magazines that hold up to 30 rounds (I've read that people can modify those and put two together. I am not 100% sure on that.) An assault rifle is fully automatic rifle -- it is a machine gun, and it is capable of firing 1,000 rpm. An assault rifle will also have a folding stock, a very noticeable, protruding, pistol grip, and a bayonet mount. Both are nothing to play with but I did want to clear up the difference. People are drawn to the AR-15, imo, b/c it is very lightweight (5lbs +/-) and the large capacity magazines.

God this is getting so CNN ey on CNN. Getting angry. They keep (not proof whatsoever) that he was going to gay bars and places where gay men gather translates to surveying places

If he were attempting to shoot people in the FBI building, I assume he might "survey".

Its insulting in its stupidity. What exactly is there to "survey". Its a small bar - it has a door . You walk in . You have a mean gun - you pull the trigger - its not a bank robbery

For someone doing all this "casing" he sure was not good at it - evidently he was unaware that there was an armed dude at the door"

He went to gay bars casue he was gay - so simple! moo

I don't get why he would need to survey Pulse if he had been there a dozen times over a 3-year period. So is this the same person?

because he also pledged allegiance to a rival group? idk I don't buy it. why be a regular at a gay club? this smacks of mental issues and latent homosexuality he couldn't deal with to me.

BBM

But Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, a counterterrorism analyst and senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told Business Insider that it's not all that unusual for a jihadist at Mateen's level to have conflicting sympathies for different terror groups.

Mateen's contradictory allegiances are "not only unsurprising, it's what you'd expect," he said.

I have no problem believing he could have been gay or repressed gay but I can't ignore that he travelled to Saudi Arabia twice in recent two years, which is expensive, and was one day drive from Yemen where apparently many go to get radicalized. First trip he was there 10 days, second there 8 days. Many experts on this have said that 2 trips 2 years in a row raises huge red flag. Then the next 2 years investigated 2 separate times for ties to terrorism. Watching beheading videos, watching radical teaching videos. Supposedly also considered Disney as a target. He was quite effective with those guns, achieving great destruction. I can swallow one coincidence. Maybe two. Not sure about three, but definitely not that many. I'm not saying he wasn't gay. I just don't believe that is all there is to this attack. IMO

What behaviors does one see when one is "casing" a place?

Moving eyes?

This is, imo, such media hype - it makes the story so much more "drama". James Bond does it.

Can a authority tell us how they distinguish "casing" behaviors compared to "being" at some place at some time?

The only thing I was casing when I went out was men..............

dont get this

at all

Not being snarky, trying for a chuckle

But I am going to go stake out my grocery store, I want some meat .............shhhhhhh!

I've been to my local grocery store hundreds of times. I know where the bread aisle is, who works at the deli, where the bathroom is.

But if I decided I wanted to attempt to pull off an armed robery there, I'd have to do some new reconnaissance. I've never looked at my grocery store with an eye to robbing it.
