O/T ugh a two year old at disney got pulled in by an alligator

I just about had a heart attack. My young niece is there right now. It's not her, she's older than the poor child.

How awful.

Taking pictures of odd things for a Disney guest... prohibited areas, emergency exits....

Disney security have seen so many millions of people -- they know what people look like who are there to have fun. They know what people look like who are having a personal dispute, or misbehaving children. The know what weird things weird tourists take pictures of.

And they have tons of experience to spot behaviors that don't fit any of the common, expected behaviors.

I just called and woke my daughter up. They are there and have 3 two year olds with their party. My heart stopped.

I wonder how they classify me. Annoyed mother who rides almost no rides, clings to only shady spots, and looks longingly at people who are leaving.

I.wonder if Disney gives training to all employees?

They would have enough money to have the best guidance for training.

Unhinged psychopath for sure.

Terrorist, maybe, maybe not. Terrorism by definition has some political component. I haven't been following that case lately -- have they discovered a political component to those killings?
No political leanings but I'm sure it's struck "terror" into the hearts and minds of the family and friends of the victims. js

There's probably plenty like you there. I'm sure you look and act nothing like an Islamic terrorist. :)

Russia warned us about the Tsarnaev brothers, too. Why isn't the FBI taking these warnings seriously?

If you see something say something and then.... ?

That's the kicker isn't it. It seems LE was warned multiple times about this guy and obviously not nearly enough was done to stop this guy. Its not like he was a mastermind or anything.

Its very upsetting and I hope LE and FBI change some of their protocols to get more aggressive when actual valid tips are called in.

Disney has cameras everywhere and watching people every moment.

I know this is OT but, I just saw, in Orlando, that an alligator grabbed a toddler and swam off w/him at the Disney Resort. Already so much sadness, and this just broke my heart to pieces. They're searching for him. :tears:

How could the wife not know his plans for a terrorist attack if he did those things at Disney? Sheesh...

....probably the same way they classify me, Magdalyn. Too funny!

It's a small world after all......

Megyn Kelly on Fox is reporting that "sources" reveal that a grand jury is being convened for the purpose of charging the killer's wife as an accessory.

She knew he was going to do something. Maybe not when, or which target, but she knew. She as much as said she did. She should be sitting in jail w/o bail. imo

Sounds like they really dropped the ball. Were they backed up with other investigations or so jaded their response was meh...no big deal.
Those poor people died probably thinking someone was looking out for their best interest and safety. IMO
What a mess.

Well, he was overheard talking to the 911 operator, according to witnesses.

Orlando gunman Omar Mateen told a 911 operator he carried out the mass shooting that killed 49 nightclub-goers because he wanted "America to stop bombing Afghanistan", a survivor who overheard the killer making the call has revealed.

That's a political leaning, to me.

I think there is terror and there is Terror™. This guy definitely committed the first kind of terror, not so sure about the second.

I think ISIS et al no doubt appealed to him, and maybe inspired him, but it sounds like he was a problem since childhood, well before terrorism was an everyday thought in the West. There doesn't seem to be anything political about his motivations.

It does seem like there were plenty of steps along the way during his life where people could have intervened. Or maybe not. Maybe some people are just born broken. It's a horrid thought, but I ponder it.

ETA: I don't think one statement said in the heat of the moment to a guy at a TV station or a 911 operator is necessarily evidence of true political motivation. They're just words. This guy has been motivated to commit violence since young childhood and well before ISIS existed or before Bush invaded Afghanistan.

My only complaint is why would a grand jury even be needed. I would have charged her as soon as the words she said about trying to talk him out of it left her mouth.

I think common sense has left LE/FBI building.

I am just using your quote and late to the conversation but I thought it was stated the wife did indeed know he was planning something. I could be wrong and it could be bad reporting and can not remember where I saw it.

Does one get bail when charged with accessory to 49 murders?
