I don't know which country you reside but islamic terrorism is a global problem, not a western one. There's no stopping it at this point when we can't even name or identify the enemy. We can't stop an attack, we can, however, at least for now, arm ourselves so we're not totally defenseless.

There was an armed officer at Pulse, who exchanged fire with the guy. It didn't stop the attacks.

Each time there is a mass shooting, people rush to buy more guns, but all that 'protection' has not prevented a single mass killing event. IF we could find out how and why these things continue to happen, we may be able to prevent them. I do not love terrorists, I don't want to hug them, I want to stop them. To do that I need to understand what makes them do it.

Guns are not the only answer, or the US would be victim free. There has to be more. How can the countries without guns as an option deal with it? Here in the UK we still see terror attacks, usually bombs not bullets. How would your gun fare against a bomb?

Sorry, it wasn't about gun control, it was about responding to the suggestion that you could defend fellow citizens with a gun.

I was simply pointing out that some of us are not 'terrorist lovers', we are genuinely trying to find solutions within our own legal systems.

I just felt that if I couldn't arm myself then I must be a terrorist lover or too PC to want to prevent such things.

It is indeed a global problem, so global solutions need to encompass global thinking.

I am sorry you felt I was attacking your right to own a gun.

Can you even imagine the outrage if, let's say, Dylan Roof and James Holmes attended the same small church in the south‎? That church would be shut down faster than the hug-it-out crew could scream "Ban evil christianity and burn all churches!"

(BBM ^^) I disagree. However, I do think there would be a legitimate outcry for that particular church and minister to be looked at more closely, just as that should be the case here, if true.

83% of Americans are Christians. I doubt Christianity would be banned or any churches burned. Just look at the support Eric Rudolph got while he was terrorizing the nation.

Yes, you should. The USA is the only country where citizens are allowed to carry, yet terror attacks happen everywhere. Terrorists don't need guns to kill, however. We lost 3,000 on 9-11 and not a single shot was fired.

I didn't feel attacked. I just find it horrific that some believe it's a waste of time for people to attempt to defend themselves.

JMO but this is incredibly disrespectful to Muslims who have served or are serving in the US military. Especially those who paid with their lives. I've served along side Muslims and I can promise you they are as dedicated and work as hard as ANY other soldier when it comes to defending our nation and its people.

I didn't think they would advertise they were going over to learn how to become a terrorist or perhaps a fanatical Imam. I don't think either of his family members are that stupid. Most of these terrorists pretend they are going to middle eastern countries for legitimate purposes when they aren't.

I think the FBI is going to investigate this trip very closely.

Feeling helpless is horrible.

There is no electronic stuff that these guys were planning a jihadist terrorist attack - why the FBI moved on

and that stuff the FBI (electronic) is what the FBI excells at. There is no reason , in both instances with OM, that if they found something that indicated terrorist plotting that would not move in , other than they saw no evidence .

IDK about all that, when you have a DHS person who had researched for yrs and had his information on terrorists scrubbed you can never be too sure that this guy wasn't already on a watch list and just got scrubbed...Now why would our president do such a thing?

Neither Adam Lanza NOR Ted Bundy screamed "I am doing this for ISIS" during the murders.

If they tell you why they want to kill you, believe them.

I think the simple numbers that clearly state that white domestic terrorists are killing more americans than anyone else is to close to home.

Let just go blow and murder (casue some of us are getting murdered) all Muslims.

That is totally ignoring the reality that people all over the world now want to kill us, is becasue we have been killing their families by thousands for what 15 years?

The cause of this, is we have been doing that. So if the solution is to ramp that up - the conclusion that would take care of the problem makes no sense IMO.

Lets pretend we go murder an entire race. To keep us safe. If we want to be safer numbers wise, we really should be killing all white american males between 19-25.

They are killing more than anyone else.

If we accept that that is the reality then it really comes down, to , for lack of a better word " our fault" as a society....................
