His childhood behaviors clearly indicate he had a conduct disorder, which often progresses into antisocial personality disorder as the person gets older

These are mental disorders!

This describes him as a young man- does it not:

Destruction of Property

Angry and irritable mood:

  • Often loses temper
  • Is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
  • Is often angry and resentful
Argumentative and defiant behavior:

  • Often argues with adults or people in authority
  • Often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules
  • Often deliberately annoys people
  • Often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior
Vindictiveness:

  • Is often spiteful or vindictive
  • Has shown spiteful or vindictive behavior at least twice in the past six months

Deceitfulness, lying, or stealing

  • has broken into someone else's building, house, or car
  • lies to obtain goods, or favors or to avoid obligations
  • steals items without confronting a victim (e.g. shoplifting, but without breaking and entering)
Serious violations of rules

  • often stays out at night despite parental objections
  • runs away from home
  • often truant from school
  • "Conduct disorder" refers to a group of behavioral and emotional problems in youngsters. Children and adolescents with this disorder have great difficulty following rules and behaving in a socially acceptable way. They are often viewed by other children, adults and social agencies as "bad" or delinquent, rather than mentally ill. Many factors may contribute to a child developing conduct disorder, including brain damage, child abuse or neglect, genetic vulnerability, school failure, and traumatic life experiences.

He was born in NY I think, in America from birth

'that does not make him automatically American. Just because you are born in a specific country does not mean you believe in that country's beliefs... especially if your parents are teaching you something different.

Dated April 3, 2016:
ISIS has issued another chilling threat to Europe in the latest edition of its propaganda magazine, saying "Paris was a warning, Brussels a reminder."

In the foreword of the latest issue of Dabiq, the terror group praises the slaughter of 130 people in Paris and the bomb attacks in Brussels last month, in which 32 people were killed.

It adds: "What is yet to come will be more devastating and more bitter by the permission of Allah.

Having heeded the lessons of years spent fighting the harshest of wars in modern times, the soldiers of the Islamic State promise their adversaries dark days of death and destruction in their own lands.

Bullets and shrapnel will slash and pierce all those whom Allah’s soldiers reach.

Survivors will be scarred physically and mentally, haunted whenever their eyes are closed, whenever they blink.

The sounds of sirens will fill the air
, preceded by blasts from bombs planted in all the right places.

The magazine Dabiq - the name is a reference to an Islamic prophecy - frequently urges Muslims to kill civilians, steal from non-believers and even justifies rape to its followers.

If you want to post about any other random terrorist topic you post on THIS THREAD

Thank you,

Whether we consider him to be an American or not is immaterial to me.
Take a step back, and let's say this happened in Luxembourg.
Would it matter if he was considered a Luxembourgian?

What matters is what inspired this a-hole to kill and injure a hundred people (self loathing homophobia? Radical Islam? ), did we miss an opportunity early on to stop it, and what we can do to prevent it from happening again.

He killed three more according to this witness. Someone shielded her from being shot at that time, she is AA.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/orlando-survivor-patience-carter-gunman-tried-to-spare-black-people/
I think he hated everyone. Life didn't turn out the way he thought it should, the world according to his father. I believe he targeted Pulse because he was familiar with it. I think hewas "questioning" and that angered him even more, again because of the father.

The more I read about this guy, the more I don't think he was homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual...I think he was HIMsexual. He loved himself and only himself, and if others didn't give him the attention he wanted, he was determined to get it one way or another.

When EMT Julio Salgado arrived at Orlando's Pulse nightclub in the early morning hours of June 12, he saw rows of wounded bodies as law enforcement officers dragged victims out of the building -- later telling ABC News he's "never been on a scene like this before."

There were no medics or emergency personnel allowed inside the nightclub at that time, because the gunman was still firing. So Salgado and his EMT crew approached the injured victims outside with a backboard and stretcher, ducking down behind a shotgun-wielding officer.

"It was like a war scene," Salgado said. "It was load and go. Just get them out of there."

Help!

Is this just me.It is amazing to me that the media is still carrying on about the"release" yesterday. We all knew everything a week ago. Media reported all this

we knew he pledged to ISIS

thats all yesterdays release said , why is this like new details. Only I learned was the first two times he hung up

what am I missing like this is stunning new details. We all are in or5,000 post discussing the validity of the claim to have done this in ISIS name.

None of us would "know" to have this discussion if by the thrid day we did not know that on the phone call he said he is doing this for ISIS

was this thing yesterday anything new to any of you??

Yes, it seems we missed the opportunity once again to stop this radical terrorist due to the FBI not having enough manpower/ funds or additional surveillance tools needed. Even FBI Director Comey believes this radical terrorist could have been stopped before he cut down over a hundred innocent people. Imo, he is admitting their investigations both times of Mateen weren't thorough enough allowing him to slip through the cracks.

It may have even helped to stop the two radical Islamic terrorists in CA too if they had been able to do a much more in depth investigation. The female terrorist in that case gave a phony address that didn't even exist to those vetting her to allow her to enter the states but they never even verified it. All they had to do was Google it and see it was an empty lot. There is a lot we must do differently.

So there are a lot of things that can and must be done differently. 1) truly vetting everyone thoroughly who is wanting to enter our country. 2) our government must keep track of all of these refugees instead of telling congress they have no clue where thousands of them are. 3) more funds, agents and tools must be given to all investigating agencies in order to find those with Islamic radical extremist views. 4) Stop pretending that all Muslims in our country are peaceful and perfect people 4) Send in undercover cops to infiltrate certain Mosques if they are picking up evidence that the Imams of those particular Mosques may be teaching radical Islamic beliefs to their members. 5) Loretta Lynch needs to come forth and assure the American people they will be fully protected if and when they report to the police if they know of any Muslim/s who are advocating violence and hatred against any of us or a certain chosen group. 6) hire more internet savvy investigators to monitor the internet for hate speeches/death threats against Americans and those in the free world.

Two Islamic terrorists came from the same Mosque, one a suicide bomber and the mass shooter, Mateen. That is no coincidence.

"This was the No. 1 legislative priority of the FBI according to James Comey, and those sort of additional surveillance tools could have provided the FBI more information, which would have allowed them to identify this guy as the threat that he obviously was," Comey said.

There was information contained in the release that was new to me either in its specificity or official confirmation.

That said, I have found it more productive for me to separate the substance of what is in the release from any and all of the brouhaha about the redactions.

I spent some time yesterday (and plan to continue today) considering the content contained in the release. No point in me going any further into what I did with that information within any context of the brouhaha.

Speaking only for myself, any further focus on the brouhaha issues is an energy sink.

McConnell says he expects a vote will be taken no later than Wednesday.

There ya go -something meaningful IMO.Or hopefull. That no fly thing is IMo knee jerk useless public pascifer nonesense

How many time, internationally, have we heard that perps were on the no fly list while seeing them exit at the gate - ha! Useless

This stuff sounds like it will focus on trying to find out who the bad boys are BEFORE, not after.

Same thing IMO with background checks bla bla - casue the inherent belief in that silliness is that it is accurate. With Hippa, (which I think is a must for folks to know that what they discuss with a health care provider is confidential) that cant happen.

The dueling problem here is IMO, that is the exact piece of data needed - is there a mental history in ones background. So we remain in quite a quagmire. Just a few that come to mind.

In most of these people around each of these people were aware of oddities. I wonder if there could be some system, I dont know maybe only legal family members, can call a number. But there has to be some mechanism (like child abuse calls where they are starting a bunch of junk to get even with another family member) - I dont know its a felony to call and report or something.

I dont know just thinking out loud, or something . Obviouly I am not ok with violating confidentail/priviledged communication between mental health professinals and pts.

IMo this relentless focus on weapons, is sadly going to lead us nowhere - black market, there are so many out there already.

Maybe expand teacher reporting obligations - expand what could they could alert to isolation, overt rage with peers, discussions of violence, something .

We need to try and get a way flag signs and symptoms - not of mental diagnosis, but the clasic observed histories most of these folks have displayed for years

Expand mandated reporting by mental health folks to include not overt threats verbilized (thats our criteria they have to "say" I am killing my parents). maybe it could be broadened. At least that way there would be some screening in terms of calls . Then link those folks to the gun buying background data base. BUT the database used then has to be redone.

Just gonna do it this way (too much typing!

Like the current database being used for background checks is blue paint. ONLY for the gun background check, on a totally seperate data base, red paint. Cause we cant have it like this angle of the background comes up in any background check. It has to be IMO a database that is SOLELY used by gun dealers - totally seperate entity.

Got to be some privacy stuff still in place

I dunno know......................

Just off the top of my head. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE WERE ON SOME NO FLY LIST, so exactly how our leaders thinking all that nonsense they are engaged in up there is meaningful in any real way.

Just a rough guess (of the follwoing people death numbers )

Lets pretend this no fly cr@p were in place.

The reality is guesstatmate about 145 people are still dead

No fly is focusing only on foriegn stuff - we have a very serious death toll from people that are flying from or to anywhere. Useless. Makes people feel safe, while ignoring more than half of the victims of this type of atrocity, have never been on a dam* airplane.

Adam Lanza had been diagnosed with schzophrenia
The planned planned parent guy was clearly not in touch with reality at all.
Elliot Rodger with Asburgers-and took psychotropic medications.11
James Holmes “was seeing a psychiatrist specializing in schizophrenia
Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged gunman in last year's mass ... "Given the defendant's history of significant mental illness,
Virgina Tech - no discussion needed!
Chris Harper Mercer-graduated in 2009 from a high school catering to troubled ..Mercer had mental health or behavioral issues.

The most amazing thing here is the focus that he came under FBI scrrtiny 2X, while ignoring that 2x the FBI concluded that both were hot air !!

THAT, imo is the takeaway!!
Except of course, the FBI was wrong...

"Mateen asked if there were African-Americans in the stall. One man said there were six or seven.

“I don’t have a problem with black people,” Mateen said, according to Carter. “This is about my country. You guys have suffered enough.”

BBM

This is about my country. Kind of says it all. He didn't identify with America. This was about HIS country. He wasn't American in his heart, mind and soul.

I think the FBI suffered from PC and hands tied syndrome. As was the DHS.

As I see it, Mateen was a terrorist as a child bully, a terrorist as a co-worker, a terrorist as a wife-beating husband, and finally, a terrorist to specifically a club full of primarily LGBT folks, the horror of which has terrorized all Americans...............we wring our hands and wonder how he slipped through the cracks and are angry that someone, somewhere did not intervene. He is responsible for his actions, but WE are all responsible in our own lives, to intervene as best we can, before there is a bloody tragedy to witness.JMO

I agree.

It didn't have to end like this. There are worse people.
