They probably had only a Month to month
lease agreement. I believe in Florida landlord must only give a 2 week notice if on mo. to mo.
So he knew his time in the home was very limited and this would fit with when our local news believed the killings happened, around the end of December.

They had a 12 month lease. That eviction notice on the door was effectively a message stating they had 3 days to catch up on their rent or it was going to court.

ETA the legal proceeding for eviction was efiled with the court on 12/22/19.

I agree. I am also on the fence about murder suicide. I don't think Megan did not know anything about their finances. She was a very well educated woman and she worked in the practice until a couple years ago. She may not have known the extend of the fraud if she knew that part at all but I think she was well aware they were living way beyond their means. Maybe they just wanted to live their best life with their kids and built a house of cards which worked for awhile until someone pulled a card from the bottom. Crashes down and lives going into a spiral down turn. I think it was carbon monoxide and possibly kids first and a pact between him and her. Either his did not work on him or he could or would not go thru with it. That would explain them all being in the master bedroom etc. Stab wounds I think were to release the gas bloat from decomp. This is just my working theory at the moment and I could be totally off base with it too. I am still open to she may have not known and he felt he had to eliminate them so she would not find out. To many unknowns at the moment but I do think Tox is also going to be a huge key

BBM

I had the same thought. I just couldn't articulate it. :( jmo

Yes, this! The gas bloat release theory is interesting, and a possibility considering there were no visible wounds on Zoe.

I'm on the fence about murder suicide theory as well. It is plausible, though, if there is any truth to it, that Megan may have felt there was no one left to turn to if her husband went down for fraud.

...I'm on the fence about murder suicide theory as well...

I'm afraid I am too. That "world is going to end" from MT quoted by the sister-in-law seems more fatalistic than being evicted. What is a worry is if he is going to claim that they both had a part in murdering the kids, or worse, that she did that. A CW move.

I dunno. If they all had colds and he doubled up the Benadryl dose they would be very sleepy.
Who said they had colds? In sunny balmy Florida! Was it Tony?

People get colds, the flu, RSV even in Florida.

Keep in mind he did admit to all the murders including Megan. What we don't know is exactly how he said it went down. He may just take full responsibility regardless or he may tell if it was a murder/suicide pact.

In regard to the flu, AT was the only one who stated that and it was to his sister at Christmas when she wanted videos of the kids on Christmas morning. It would have been a good excuse for them to have waited to celebrate until they all felt better. He did say they all had it. They may have had it too but so far it is just his word. He may have used it to buy himself some time once everyone else was deceased.

Yes that concerns me also. The business was an LLC, not sure if her name was on it or just his. Even if she did not commit the fraud but thought she and he would both go to jail, I could totally feel that she saw no way out of this. She most likely would never have left her children and the dog for someone else to raise. She was an only child as far as I know. Her Dad is deceased and she does not have a close relationship with her mother. That would leave Tony's family to raise her kids. I don't think she was going to allow that. JMOO

LE asked Tony if Meghan knew about his criminal activity and he said "only me".

This bothers me a lot. I see there is a whole group of people who had an apocalyptic belief (Montaigne followers) that the world would end on Dec 28, 2019 due to a pole shift.

Do we know if the Todts were apocalyptic believers?

bbm
It's possible that they were "preparing" for a worldwide catastrophe, I guess. If the Mom was also convinced that the Earth's pole would shift, tearing the crust apart and leading to the "end of the world" maybe living beyond their means over the past few years was just another version of running up a bunch of credit cards before declaring bankruptcy.

Or, maybe she believed the end was coming, and didn't expect AT would kill them all before it happened.

If they were expecting the end of the world on Dec 28, maybe AT wanted to spare his family having to face the chaos of the "end," so he ensured they would die peacefully at his hand. Maybe he wanted to be alive to witness the end, satisfied and content that he had assured his family (and family dog) a peaceful and easy transition to the afterlife.

I hate even speculating like this, because I feel crazy just typing out that theory. LOL and IMO

We don’t know what the comment was that Megan supposedly said to SIL. SIL intimates from it that the world was coming to an end on the 28th, if I remember correctly. I’ve got a gut feeling that Megan knew of some of their financial troubles and made a doom and gloom comment, and when SIL found out about fbi investigation, and stopped hearing from the family, she put two and two together and started freaking out. I think they were concerned about their world crashing down, not the world coming to an end.

Not to say she was necessarily in on a murder suicide thing.

Is there any evidence to suggest Megan was in on some murder-suicide plot? It seems unfair to theorize she may have been involved in murdering her children without compelling evidence. For those of you who think she may have helped plan it: What makes you think so?

I'm not suggesting "that she was gonna divorce me and take the kids made me kill her" is an excuse. Often killers cite this as the proximate cause.
Yep, not a good excuse, but actually very common.

Maybe AT tried the poison route and it was described to the relatives as "flu." It didn't work entirely, so he killed them outright.

I have a feeling the toxicology report is gonna be interesting....
Yep.

FBI agent said TT liquidated ALL of his assets just prior to Jan so they suspected something big was about to go down. I wonder if since he rented SUV n liquidated assets he was originally planning on fleeing. He had plenty of time to do so without really anyone breathing down his neck, and didn’t. Then he made that $278,900 payment on a judgement for a loan he had. Maybe he keep some more to flee with or maybe he just gave up. Very odd how he just sat there for over 2 weeks waiting. Or maybe he took a big chunk of the original liquidation amount (we don’t know total), went to casino n made some huge bets hoping to get a big win as a last ditch attempt to save himself, n gave up when he didn’t.

Can you link that again? I missed that one somehow.
