GUILTY FL - Megan Todt 42, Alek 13, Tyler 11, Zoe 4, & dog Breezy, murdered, Celebration, Jan 2020 #2

Boy- that sounds quick - when they said the trial would last 2 weeks...

Has anyone found "who" the witnesses were this morning for the State - or did they just come in and rested their case - and now defense is scrambling to come up with their case?

State just came in and said they rested. No discussion. The prosecution seemed surprised and unprepared.

Edit: He seems to have anger issues. He is trying to control it but you can see how he doesn’t like being interrupted with objections. Hopefully the prosecution will use that.

WOW… just… wow…
So, my thoughts. the prosecution gave him enough rope to hang himself with and he willingly took it and even tied a little bow tie for her. If you ever need an example of what not to do on the stand, that was it.

So - is it about 11:10am in Florida now? Lunch until 1:30pm.
Here in sunny Florida, it is now 12:27 PM. We 'sprung ahead' one hour a month ago.

Totally agree! Fake tears for sure - like someone on the side chat box - he was probably pulling his nose hairs to get some tears going - if any! Disgusting person!!

So. . . . he forgot to make up a cover story for cashing Tyler's birthday check.

Pinnell asks Todt when Tyler's birthday is: 12/30/2008. Todt says he was dead before his birthday and Christmas.
Pinnell: "Do you remember cashing a check that was for Tyler’s birthday?"
Todt: "No, I do not."

What got me most, were the curt and snarky responses to the prosecutor. I was hoping the bailiff could move fast, because it looked like he wanted to get in her face in a few spots.

Yes!! A little on the arrogant side... sheesh... I really have to say - Guilty on all counts! ;)

Honestly, I think at least part of his motive was that he couldn’t figure out how to tell his wife about the fraud case. He comes across as very arrogant and I don’t think he would have been able to stand the idea of having his wife think lesser of him or consider him a failure. How someone could think murder was better than insurance fraud, I have no clue but according to the podcast, he seemingly changed in the last 6 months before the murders. It sounded like the stress from the federal case may have caused depression and sent him down some strange mental rabbit hole of dark thoughts. It also mentioned that he had told the federal investigators that he was going to be gone a week for Thanksgiving, then would be back and would talk to them then, so he was likely feeling the pressure of that lie by mid December.

My question is, if we (hypothetically) accept the idea that he and his wife were talking about suicide around Thanksgiving, who bought the Christmas gifts and why?

Bolding mine, I'm not sure they bought them at all, or maybe just a couple. I think they were sent by the extended family since they weren't going to see them for Christmas.

I just read this trial was supposed to take about 2 weeks! It's crazy it's already done.

One of the early articles said the prosecution may call 70(!) witnesses. I think it ended up being 5?

This was one of the strangest trials I've ever watched. MOO, the defense did not want him on the stand. They didn't have enough time to prepare him and it showed, big time. There wasn't much else they could present, though, that would overcome that testimony.

Why is it not a death penalty case? Sorry if this was answered previously.
Death penalty waived in Anthony Todt case in Florida family killings
1/5/21
In her filing, State Attorney Aramis D. Ayala said “after consideration of the facts and law applicable to this case, including serious concerns regarding the mental health of the defendant, it is not in the best interest of the people of the state of Florida to pursue the death penalty as a potential sentence.”

Prosecutors will not seek death penalty against dad accused of killing family at home in Celebration

Jan. 4, 2021
ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange-Osceola State Attorney Aramis Ayala will not seek the death penalty against Anthony Todt, who stands accused of killing his wife and three children at a home in Celebration last year.

Ayala, who has made headlines in the past due to her stance on the death penalty, filed a notice of intent to not seek the death penalty in the case of Todt and several other high-profile cases. News 6 has reached out to Ayala, who did not seek re-election, for comment but has not heard back.

His testimony made me so angry. Looking at jury like he is an expert witness. Wanting to tell his ‘story’, shame his family didn't get a chance to tell theirs. Unbelievable.
Their hate runs so deep to continually want to tarnish the victims.
