OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The man accused of killing his wife and three children inside their home then stayed inside with them around Christmas said he doesn’t remember doing it, according to a newly released phone call from jail.

“I don’t remember anything over Christmas and pretty much the first week I got here,” Anthony Todt is heard saying on the call to the woman, who he refers to as “Cheesepuff.” “I don’t remember coming here....

Yep. He's clearly setting up his defense in this call. He will be blaming the murder on Megan - claiming it was a murder/suicide that happened while he was at the condo looking for the mickey mouse necklace and fell asleep. And he's so sweet he's not even angry with her.

Gross. MOO, of course.

On the phone call, Todt tells his family member “I couldn’t take the love out of loving her” He is referring to his wife.

I’ve never heard this “saying” before. Maybe it’s a regional thing. Anyhow, hoping someone could explain what it is supposed to mean.

I too, have never heard that saying. But I immediately took it to mean he (in his delusional state) thought killing them was the best thing he could do, out of love

I've never heard it before, either. I just think he's setting up to blame her and it's his way of saying he loved her even though she killed their family.

Do you suppose she was going to leave him? That's the oddest comment. Jmo

I think the catalyst to all of this was the fraud investigation. It's likely that she found out or was very soon to find out about his house of cards. I think this was all very planned - based on the limited story we've heard in the jailhouse phone call.

ETA: By that, I mean that she either threatened to leave him or he thought he was going to be left.

I tend to agree. I'm not buying the blacking out standard excuse. Shoot, he had the bodies in one room. Jmo

Odd quote. I take it to mean he spared her from living with his crimes (i.e. single parenting, embarrassment of his fraud crimes and his eventual imprisonment), took her life in love to shield her and them from all of this.

I don't necessarily believe that he's going to blame her, but we'll see. I think he's going to go with temporary insanity, if there is such a thing.

I'm super confused, though. He's saying he was at the condo they owned down the street looking for a mickey mouse necklace and fell asleep? But has no recollection past that? No recollection for weeks??? Just walking around in a stupor? Not buying any of that bs.

I'm still on the fence as to whether she knew how dire their financial situation was. There WAS that sister-in-law comment about the end of the world to 911 that was imposed on Megan saying it. Got to take that with a grain of salt, of course. But, I can't discount that Megan knew things were not right.

I just can't get from that place to Megan freaking out and threatening to leave him. By most accounts she was a devoted wife and mother. She wasn't working. She *seemed* to love her husband. I keep thinking she'd approach the situation with, "okay, how do we fix this?"

I’ve never heard that either. Sounds like some gobblygook he made up to get sympathy.

What is so foolish is this is all about money! He was a coward for not speaking up and taking the blame for the fraud and saying to his wife, look I have to pay for this, probably 5 years in prison and payback. If she left so what, she could have easily gotten a job being a physical therapist, they make good money! She could have ditched that $5K@ month rental house and lived in their condo with the kids and gone on with her life maybe even taking him back when his sentence was up! Who does what he did! Come one.

I agree. I am also dumbfounded that no one in his PT practice was speaking out either. They weren't getting paid. They all knew Megan and had multiple friends/co-workers/neighbors in common between CT and FL. Tony was being investigated, sh*t was going to down and the office was getting closed. I find it almost impossible to believe that there was no one in that web that would not have been in contact with Megan.

Maybe there was communication with someone and it's just not been made public. Who knows...

Why drag Megan and the kids into this and kill them. Why not just disappear. He'd eventually be found but at least he would not be humiliated with his loving family by his side and he would spare them the humliation too.
