Circumstances of Recovery: At around noon on January 27, 1983, two migrant workers walking along a canal discovered the decapitated body of a man floating in the canal approximately 2.5 miles south of SW 344th Street and 0.3 miles east of 187th Avenue. The body was partially covered by a brown plastic garbage bag. The men initially reported the discovery to Florida City police, who subsequently notified Miami-Dade police.
Two days after the body was discovered, divers recovered the man's head in the canal. It is believed the man was killed elsewhere and his body later dumped in the canal.

The victim's head was recovered by police divers from the same ditch, after the body, partially protruding from a brown plastic garbage bag, was discovered by two laborers at noon Thursday.
The unidentified man apparently had been dead for three to four days, Duckworth said.
