Circumstances of Recovery: At around noon on January 27, 1983, two migrant workers walking along a canal discovered the decapitated body of a man floating in the canal approximately 2.5 miles south of SW 344th Street and 0.3 miles east of 187th Avenue. The body was partially covered by a brown plastic garbage bag. The men initially reported the discovery to Florida City police, who subsequently notified Miami-Dade police.

Two days after the body was discovered, divers recovered the man's head in the canal. It is believed the man was killed elsewhere and his body later dumped in the canal.

Metro police are trying to identify the decapitated body of a man found floating in a South Dade canal. Homicide detectives would not give any details about the investigation begun yesterday after two migrant workers found the body as they walked near SW 344th Street and 187th Avenue.

The decapitated man found floating in a South Dade drainage ditch apparently had been killed elsewhere and dumped into the water, Metro-Dade Homicide Sgt. James Duckworth said Friday.

The victim's head was recovered by police divers from the same ditch, after the body, partially protruding from a brown plastic garbage bag, was discovered by two laborers at noon Thursday.

The unidentified man apparently had been dead for three to four days, Duckworth said.

Bitten fingernails on a man seem odd to me. I know a lot of anxiety ridden women bite their nails. That seems more common to me than a man biting their nails.

What the hell? Almost every man I know bites his nails, and I dont really see women do it as much.

Well clearly we run in different circles. My perspective is definitely white collar workers over 40 years. Those without access to grooming tools, regular sanitation or running water may be forced to bite their nails.

As a payroll person in an office at an airport, I don't ever remember the maintenance crew with bitten nails. Most definitely never saw bitten nails of the upper level office staff nor board members. A few female admin assistants did tho. At Boeing I don’t remember any of the space station engineers with bitten nails. Not even the female engineer did. At the big payroll companies I’ve worked at, and taught classes for, there were many women who did.
