Case History
The body was found in a Wooded area at 14420 N.W. 107th Avenue, Miami, Florida on April 19, 2002.
The individual who discovered the body was getting a truck serviced and while waiting, walked across the street to use the restroom. He observed a white plastic box that had flies swarming around it and then noticed a foul odor coming from inside.
The box was opened and he observed the lower body of the deceased. A second box was also found. The boxes were labeled "property of Walgreens Co." Further investigation revealed that her body was cut in half and the only remains that were found was the upper and lower torso.
The outsides of the boxes were streaked with oil. And the inside of one was caked with oil and grease, as if someone used it to store used auto parts; the killer could work at an auto shop.
The letters "RAYE" was handwritten on a piece of tape stuck to one of the crates.

No missing-person reports match her description. That, along with her clothing, makes authorities believe she could have been a recent Hispanic immigrant.

Yikes! The poor woman.

  • #4
Maybe it's not Raye but Ray E. Like, the box belonged to someone named Ray E.

Poor woman. Someone has to know SOMETHING. Even if she had immigrated recently. Where is her family? Or friends? People who just saw her around.

Wow!! Sure hope that hair found in her fingers was preserved. Could lead to the perpetrator. Also could be her own hair.
I agree with previous post that writing on the box was probably a name Ray E.
What a truly horrifying discovery.

The piece of tape labeled Raye or Ray E. is no longer mentioned anywhere. I wonder why that is?

Found 5-6ish years apart, roughly 30-40 mins away from each other. Similar circumstances, as one was found stuffed in a box wrapped in rope/duct tape, and the other (this case) stuffed in a storage container. Similar ages, heights, both potentially... South American? I don't know about believing they're actually connected or anything, it's just so eerie if nothing else. Enough for me to crawl out of my usual cave as a lurker here and make a post, even if it's just to bump this case, cause I could finally find an article on it. But not any new info.

Article from April 26, 2002

Police seek to identify dismembered woman Miami-Dade homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a young woman whose dismembered body was found last week in a storage container. Police released information on Thursday about the type of outfit she wore in the hope it will jar someone's memory. Detectives have purchased a new pair of a Brazilian jean called MIX, size 38 - a duplicate of the bell-bottom ones the woman wore. She also had on a U.S. Tops brand sleeveless shirt with multi-colored diagonal stripes.

Detectives say the victim was a white female believed to be in her late teens or early 20s. She was between five feet one and five feet four. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office said the woman died about a month ago and her mutilated body was stuffed in the container. A week ago, someone scavenging in a wooded field off Northwest 107th Avenue and 144th Street found the container with the body inside. Anyone with information on the woman's identity is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
