I found a third reconstruction/edited photo on florida state webpage

Florida Missing Person Flyer

In this one he has hints at a moustache and 5 o'clock shadow. I guess second attempt is at an "older" young adult. Which they believe he was at 16-21 or so in age-range. And the first image is on the younger part of that range.

I reviewed namus list for ruled out ids but if the date is correct they should look at Gregg Allen Haskell. If it’s possible that the date is/was 1998 not 1988 robert Louis grossman could be possible

Hi and welcome @Deel2002 For convenience Gregg's Namus file
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
and CP Gregg Allen Haskell – The Charley Project

Gregg would have been 22 in 1988 when John Doe was found, stretching the age range, but an interesting find. I'm not sure about the dentals.

His upper left incisor tooth was repaired with a temporary crown in May 1984, but by the time of his disappearance the crown had reportedly broken.

That's weird. I wonder where the information he'd been shot came from then, because I remember that being largely accepted and circulated as the COD. I'm gonna have a look on Newspapers.com for any contemporary articles. Will report back if I find anything.

Thank you for height and weight 18-22 sounds more likely then 10-21 but I see a strong resemblance there. The only reason I came across it is because I was in search for a friend Bobby Grossman which also has some resemblance but would only be if the date is inaccurate 1998 versus 1988.

Sorry for your friend. What an agonizing story. I don't think the finding year of John Doe is off or at least not that far off or a typo. The 10 in the age range seems to me a typo though.

Maybe you found it already. This is your friend's thread.

This case has FINALLY gotten some new light. We now know that he was stabbed, found inside a bathtub. Bobby Copeland probably wasn't even his real name after all.

Murder mystery: Victim remains unidentified since 1988

Thanks @Grungster for the additional info. I never thought his real name was Bobby Copeland btw.

Finally we know the name of the arrested person.

“This is a closed homicide case, the offender has been arrested but we don’t know the identity of the victim in this case,” said Detective Johnathan Grossman, of the Miami-Dade Police Departments’ cold case unit.

Police did make a swift arrest: A teen named Mark Robinson from Georgia who was also staying at the hotel. Robinson had run away from home, stealing his father’s car and knife collection. He was arrested in Vegas.

How can a murder case be closed if the victim isn't identified? I would like to know all about Mark Robinson....so he did it, confessed?, could they prove how and when they met, motive? What was the story he had to tell, was he convicted, is he still in jail, etc.

It seems like this inmate might fit? Inmate Release Information Detail (state.fl.us)
If you type the case number in here, it brings up the case. You can't see any documents, but the docket has some interesting coincidences...Miami-Dade County Clerk Criminal Justice (miami-dadeclerk.com)
Yeah, that’s him. The news report showed a part of the report with the conviction date.

I don't understand the "dangerous act" part of it.
He's listed as being convicted of 2nd degree murder, which means he killed someone but didn't do any pre-planning. Perhaps what happened is he and Bobby got into an argument which ended in Bobby being stabbed. The "dangerous act" might be something like waving a knife around.

Thanks @Grungster sniped by me

It would be the murder case that is closed because they caught the offender which doesn't mean they don't have to know the real name. The John Doe part is probably separate as it is a unidentified case. The article states that the homicide is closed.

Don't mean to sound snippy sorry if it came off that way.

@Bit of hope Honestly, from what I understand, Mark didn’t have any explanation as to why he did it. The hotel room was his and let Bobby in after seeing him sleeping in the hallway. Mark said that Bobby attacked him but he ended up drowning in a bath full of water so I think he didn’t say what really happened.

Anything on the woman clothing found in the room? Was one of them a cross dresser...or is this a made up story?
