FL - Michelle Aranda, 28, homicide, found deceased in her apt, Miami, 4 May 2017

  • #61
My cousin, known to sort of drop off the radar for days or more than a week at times, was sadly found deceased in his condo last Friday (by his sister who realized 'hey, it's been over a week since I talked to him' and went over to check in on him). He had in fact been gone about a week according to medical examiner.

So yeah, it happens. Sadly.

My condolences to your family...So sad

Memorial held for deceased woman found inside Miami condo

May 17, 2017

A memorial was held for a 28-year-old woman who was found dead in her Miami condo, last Thursday.

Over 40 friends and family remembered Michelle Aranda at her memorial in Miami Beach, Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, officials said they will not know how Aranda died until the Medical Examiner gives them a full report.

Miami Police discovered her body inside her condo at Serenity on the River, along 17th Street and Northwest North River Drive, on May 11. They said the body was so badly decomposed that they could not tell the gender of the person.

[...]

Officials are leaving this case as unclassified until the Medical Examiner releases a cause of death.

Police also continue to search for Aranda’s vehicle, a black Mini Cooper with the Florida tag EACZ50, which has been missing.

I'm surprised they haven't mentioned anything about surveillance cameras, in or around the building and parking garage.

I've read a lot of books and watched a lot of murder/crime in my lifetime and I've never heard of a body being indoors decomposing so quick. What am I missing?

I feel bad for her and her family, not only facing the tragedy but all the news reports reminding us of how badly her body was decomposed. :(

But in response to your question, it is kind of strange that the body would be in such shape. Could she have been in the baththub?

Heat and humidity?
The Body Farm is opening a new location in Tampa FL to help with identifying time of death in areas such as this.
Just a guess, but I am thinking the air conditioning wasn't running in her apartment. Criminals have even been known to turn up the heat or a/c to try and confuse the ME with regards to time of death/alibi for themselves..
The missing car is probably crucial to this investigation, as is who she was with the night of May 4th.

If she worked with the homeless has she ever let any of them stay at her place? I wonder if any of the homeless she tried to help took advantage

That's a good question! There are lots of homeless people hanging around the streets close to her apartment building too. She lived minutes from downtown Miami.

Going by her FB profile, she looked like such a friendly and kind soul. She would have done a lot of good in the world, as it appears that she already has. I'm so sorry that her family has to deal with knowing about the added indignity of her being found the way she was.

I'm wondering however if the perp(s) turned off her AC on purpose to hinder the finding of evidence. Depending on when she died, and imagining that the AC was on, would she have been so far along in that state? I imagine that living in FL, she would have her AC on in May when temps are starting to get warmer.
Also, did she have any drinks with friends after bowling which resulted in someone giving her a ride home? Just throwing some things out there...I hope some surveillance footage surfaces.

Hi all.

So I live in the building next door. Last night there was a large police presence for an unrelated suicide attempt.

Bumping for Michelle. I don't see any Justice for Michelle group - or really anything at all - on FB. Am I missing it? Have the police not stated yet that they think this is foul play?

Haven't seen much but since her car is missing I'm going with foul play. MOO

I was a very close friend to Michelle. She was truly amazing and everyone close to her is devastated by this. She loved life and absolutely would have never committed suicide. <modsnip> Thank you all for caring.

Michelle had a second FB account https://www.facebook.com/michelle.saari.79

Apparently she went by Michelle Saari (maybe her middle name) for modeling.

Instagram: @michelle_saari

There's a photo from a couple of weeks ago with her holding the hand of a guy in Puerto Rico - I can't figure out who the guy is. Also no mention elsewhere that I can see of a boyfriend. So many questions.

I have seen a number of fundraisers though to keep her non-profit for homeless kids going. Incredibly thoughtful group of friends, Michelle's legacy will live on.
